Tartezy/iStock Editorial via Getty Images In Piper Sandler’s opinion, the market seems to be pricing in a lot more bad news for Wingstop ( WING ) and views the current risk/reward as attractive, encouraging investors to take advantage of this situation. Accordingly, analyst Brian Mullan upgraded Wingstop ( WING ) to Overweight from Neutral despite his own expectation for same-store sales, adjusted EBITDA, adjusted EPS, and even net unit growth estimates to be revised lower in the coming months. “No doubt, it feels somewhat uncomfortable to upgrade right now,” Mullan says, adding that what is even more concerning is that he hasn’t seen any signs of stabilization in WING’s top-line trends. “But as these things often go, this is the reason why the stock is where it is, which is what we believe is presenting investors with the opportunity, hence the upgrade,” Mullan continues. Despite the risk of getting the upgrade wrong if same-store sales continue to disappoint, Mullan is optimistic that Wingstop’s ( WING ) Smart Kitchen “should prove to be a good thing for the domestic business,” the loyalty program is a plus, and the company’s balance sheet allows it to remain active with share repurchases. Therefore, the combination of the smart kitchen and loyalty program will at least stem the declines in the multi-year trends, “and if that happens, we’d expect to see some stabilization/sequential improvement in the one-year trend, at minimum,” Mullan adds. “Taking everything into consideration, we like the risk/reward on WING at current levels and are upgrading the shares to Overweight. There are things we are worried about still, but we think that these things have been getting priced into the stock of late. Should anything go better than what we are currently modeling, we expect that the upside could prove to be quite attractive.” Wall Street seems to concur with Mullan’s upgrade, lifting Wingstop ( WING ) shares by more than 5% on Thursday. Wingstop ( WING ) reports first-qu...

At a press event on Tuesday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said two 3D-printing companies had voluntarily agreed to adopt technology that would block the creation of guns using their printers; another digital design company agreed to remove some firearm CAD files (the printing blueprints) from their services, Bragg said. A unit of Heathrow Airport is looking to raise around C$500 million ($359 million) through a bond sale in Canada, according to people familiar with the matter, amid improved market conditions there for overseas borrowers. The note from Heathrow Funding Limited could have a maturity of about 10 years, and initial discussions are for a spread of at least 120 basis points above Canadian government benchmarks, said the people, who asked not to be identified as they aren’t authorized to speak publicly. Representatives from the funding vehicle of the London airport are scheduled to speak with Canadian investors on April 6, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. Heathrow didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment on Thursday. Conditions have grown more favorable for issuers of so-called maple bonds. Meanwhile, investors have been increasingly attracted to loonie-denominated bonds from non-Canadian entities as they’re now part of the FTSE Canada Universe Bond Index. Heathrow Funding raised C$600 million last July, with orders nearly six times that.

Trump Puts State Farm, Other Insurers On Notice Over Treatment Of California Wildfire Victims Authored by Chris Summers via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), President Donald Trump on March 31 told State Farm and other insurers to “get their act together” after meeting with California politicians and hearing about the difficulties facing the victims of last year’s wildfires. Josh Edelson/AFP via Getty Images Two areas outside Los Angeles were devastated by wildfires in January 2025. In the Palisades fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported that 6,831 structures were lost, 973 were damaged, and 12 people died. When combined with the nearby Eaton fire, which ignited in Altadena, north of Los Angeles, on Jan. 7, 2025, and claimed 18 lives, the two fires destroyed more than 12,000 structures. “I have just met with various Political Representatives of the tragedy that took place in California concerning the burning of thousands of once beautiful homes,” Trump wrote in a March 31 post on Truth Social. “ It was brought to my attention that the Insurance Companies, in particular, State Farm, have been absolutely horrible to people that have been paying them large Premiums for years, only to find that when tragedy struck, these horrendous Companies were not there to help!” Trump said he had asked Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin to give him a list of the insurance companies that acted “swiftly, courageously, and bravely” and those that were “particularly bad.” The California Department of Insurance said in a June 2025 statement that Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara had launched a formal investigation into State Farm’s handling of thousands of insurance claims. “ Some troubling patterns that my staff will investigate include the frequent reassignment of multiple adjusters with little continuity in com...

Shares of AI data center infrastructure specialist Penguin Solutions (NASDAQ: PENG ) are well up today following Wednesday evening's post-close release of the company's fiscal Q2 results. While revenue and operating income both fell year over year, each also topped analysts' expectations. Unexpectedly solid guidance for the full fiscal year, however, is seemingly responsible for the bulk of today's jump. For the three months ending in February, Penguin turned revenue of $343 million into a per-share non-GAAP profit of $0.52. Sales fell 6% year over year, and income was essentially flat. But, analysts were only calling for a top line of $339 million and earnings of $0.42 per share. The company's advanced computing arm's sales fell more than its integrated memory business expanded during the quarter. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading
