MicroStockHub/iStock via Getty Images Written by Nick Ackerman, co-produced by Stanford Chemist It has been a while since we've touched on the FT Confluence BDC & Specialty Finance Income ETF ( FBDC ); in fact, this was the First Trust Specialty Finance and Financial Opportunities Fund under the "FGB" ticker previously. At that time, they were looking to merge the fund into the abrdn Total Dynamic Dividend Fund ( AOD ). However, they were unsuccessful in getting the votes required for approval. Thus, they ended up reorganizing the fund from a closed-end fund structure to an ETF . Shortly after that time, they also conducted a 1-for-5 reverse split . Since that all took place, business development companies ("BDCs") had been under some significant pressure. That has seen FBDC head on a pretty sharp and steady decline. While FBDC has a flexible investing policy that can incorporate investments outside of BDCs, the fund is and has historically been almost all BDC-focused. On occasion, we'd sometimes see mREIT exposure and even Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.B ), but it had often been 90%+ BDCs. The new ticker of "FBDC" for this fund makes me assume that they will be even more focused on BDCs. FBDC Basics Dividend Frequency: Monthly Dividend Yield: 12.22% SEC yield, 12.37% Distribution Yield Expense Ratio: 0.95% (total expense 13.69% with AFFE) Leverage: N/A Managed Assets: $33.332 million Structure: Active ETF FBDC's investment objective is "a high level of current income. As a secondary objective, the Fund seeks an attractive total return." In an effort to achieve that, the fund will "invest at least 80% of its net assets in a portfolio of securities of business development companies and other speciality finance companies that the Confluence Investment Management LLC, the Fund's investment sub-advisor, believes offer attractive opportunitfor income and capital appreciation." Performance Comparison FBDC is a fairly small fund, and that likely is why it tends to get overlooke...

Northern Irishman praises ‘good blueprint’ from Nicklaus Scottie Scheffler ‘surprised’ by conditions on Friday Rory McIlroy has explained how weeks of preparation at “home course” Augusta National after advice from Jack Nicklaus played a substantial role in his successful Masters defence . Rather than play in PGA Tour events in the lead up to the Masters and despite a back injury causing him competitive disruption, McIlroy spent considerable time at Augusta in the lead-up to the Masters. On one occasion, it is understood he played the front nine in 29 when playing with a single ball. Continue reading...

The Polkadot (CRYPTO: DOT) cryptocurrency took a 10% dive over the weekend. This time, the crypto-bridging coin saw a security incident. An attacker exploited Hyperbridge, a protocol that moves tokens between Polkadot and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) to generate 1 billion Polkadot tokens out of thin air. In theory, the hack could have been worth more than $1 billion. The hacker found a security weakness in one of Hyperbridge's smart contracts, which skipped one security-checking step among many. As a result, one Hyperbridge transaction was duplicated many times over, letting the attacker generate 1 billion fake DOT tokens. The real damage was limited to $237,000, though. Hyperbridge only had access to 108 Ethereum's worth of liquidity in this specific Polkadot-to-Ethereum link, so that's all the attacker could convert to real-world dollars in the end. Limited liquidity can be an operating problem, but also a damage-limiting security safeguard. Continue reading

salarko/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Shares of Euronet Worldwide ( EEFT ) have been struggling recently, with investors fearing the soft positioning of the firm catching up with the business and its shares down the road. Share prices have been falling, and while organic growth is not convincing, earnings growth continues, and great earnings yields are seen here. Trading at just about 7 times realistic forward earnings, positioning concerns remain. At some point a combination of a great earnings yield, as well as stable revenues and still-growing earnings per share, makes the shares cheap enough, although the positioning concerns make it difficult to have conviction in size here. Other, higher conviction ideas, including recent M&A efforts, can be found at Value In Corporate Events . A Non-Inspiring Performance In February, Euronet reported a 6% increase in 2025 sales to $4.24 billion, albeit that revenues were up 4% on a constant currency basis. While reported revenue growth came in at 6% in the final quarter of the year, organic revenue growth slowed down to just a percent. GAAP operating profits rose by 5% to $530 million, yet in between higher taxes and some other items, net earnings rose by just a percent to $313 million. Thanks to a mid-single-digit decline in the share count, earnings did advance by nearly forty cents to $6.84 per share. Adjusted earnings rose by a dollar to $9.61 per share, and while some adjustments seem fair, that does not apply to a $55 million stock-based compensation expense, which after taxes works out to around a dollar per share. The slower pace of growth towards year-end is attributed to economic stress among low-income households, as well as immigration policy uncertainty. Despite these headwinds, the company sees adjusted earnings growth in the range between 10% and 15% in 2026. So far, part of this growth is supported by continued efforts to grow the business. The company started the year 2026 with an agreement to acquire Cre...
