A musical number about a woman’s letter to her husband on the second world war frontline unlocked my ability to blub – and made me a happier person I am sure I must have cried as a child, but by the time I was a teenager it had stopped. It was probably a boarding school thing. Very stiff upper lip. My parents are not the most emotionally available human beings, either. I like to tease them by saying: “I love you.” You can see the panic in their eyes. They will normally say: “All right then, bye.” My gran died when I was about 18, and I was sad, of course, but in terms of tears there was nothing, no water. I never cried at movies. I didn’t cry on my wedding day, nor at the birth of either of my daughters. It never alarmed me. I actually thought I might have underactive tear glands. Looking back, it was probably all about control. Continue reading...

With spending for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure through the roof this year and only expected to grow in the coming years, Nvidia remains well-positioned. The company's graphics processing units (GPUs) are the main chips used to power AI workloads, and it has a more than 90% market share in the GPU space . The company has carved out a nice moat, particularly with training large language models (LLMs) , due to its CUDA software program. Nvidia seeded CUDA into universities and research labs that were doing early work on AI, which has led to a generation of developers being trained on its platform and virtually all foundational AI code being written on its software. As the AI data center buildout continues, this helps ensure that Nvidia will be a nice winner. However, it's not the stock I'd be buying to play this spending boom. Instead, I think Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) is the better buy. Continue reading

In fact, that's far from the truth, and the reality is much more nuanced. Here's why Tesla is ending production of two of its EVs. On a recent earnings call, CEO Elon Musk explained the decision by saying, "we're really moving into a future that is based on autonomy." This fits with Tesla's goals, but it's important to understand the full context. Image source: Tesla. Continue reading
Turning the house where Adolf Hitler was born into a police station has raised mixed emotions in his Austrian hometown. “It’s a double-edged sword,” said Sibylle Treiblmaier, outside the house in the town of Braunau am Inn on the border with Germany. Turning the house where Adolf Hitler was born into a police station has raised mixed emotions in his Austrian hometown. “It’s a double-edged sword,” said Sibylle Treiblmaier, outside the house in the town of Braunau am Inn on the border with Germany. While it might discourage far-right extremists from gathering at the site, it could have “been used better or differently”, the 53-year-old office assistant said. The government wants to “neutralise” the site and passed a law in 2016 to take control...

Everyone has a story about the one that got away. Among investors, most could likely name a time when they should've bought or sold a stock, but didn't. Everyone has a story about the one that got away. Among investors, most could likely name a time when they should've bought or sold a stock, but didn't. Take Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) : In hindsight, it would have been a no-brainer buy at most points in its history. The stock is up by nearly 27,000% over just the past decade. While that's a huge gain, the implications of that rise are even more stark. A $10,000 investment in Nvidia made a decade ago would now be worth $2.7 million -- a life-changing amount of money for most retail investors. While some may be kicking themselves for missing that chance, I don't think that's necessary. Though Nvidia isn't going to rise by another 27,000%, it can still produce market-beating returns, and I think right now would be a compelling time to scoop up shares. Image source: Getty Images. Andrzej Rostek/iStock via Getty Images W. P. Carey ( WPC ) completed $2.1B in acquisitions in the 2025 fiscal year and managed to outperform expectations for its 2026 adjusted funds from operations. Due to a rebound in underlying adjusted FFO, the commercial REIT bumped its dividend by a 4.5% as well and raised its dividend every single quarter in the last year. Additionally, the REIT managed to beat expectations for both the bottom and the top lines earlier this month and is on track to buy billions more of real estate in 2026. W. P. Carey is set to benefit from strong growth prospects in its core industrial and warehouse real estate portfolio and generates positive same store rental growth. Although shares recently hit a new 52 week high and are not as cheap as they were last year, I maintain a strong buy rating for W. P. Carey. Data by YCharts Previous rating I rated shares of W. P. Carey a strong buy in my last coverage in July 2025 -- Ripe For A Breakout -- because I liked the reposition and of the REIT's portfolio and the strategic pivot toward industrial and warehouse assets. W. P. Carey supported its dividend with adjusted FFO in the last quarter and maintained a stable coverage profile throughout the year. I see prospects for continued growth of AFFO and the dividend, and view shares as moderately valued given the strength of the value proposition. Strong dividend coverage, dividend growth, well-rented portfolio W. P. Carey is a hybrid commercial property REIT with significant investments in warehouses, industrial properties, retail properties, and even some self-storage facilities. At the end of the fourth quarter, W. P. Carey owned 1,682 properties in its portfolio, showing an 8% increase in property count compared to the year-earlier period. According to the REIT's update for the fourth quarter, the real estate investment company stemmed a total acquisition volume of $2.1B in 2025, which marked a strong rebound year from 2024 which saw a major portfolio ...
