adventtr/E+ via Getty Images IonQ ( IONQ ) said it has been awarded a contract in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Heterogeneous Architectures for Quantum (HARQ) program. Shares of the quantum computing company surged about 10% on Tuesday. The company noted that the HARQ contract will support IonQ's development of high-speed interconnects capable of linking multiple types of quantum computers. As a part of HARQ, IonQ plays a key role in enabling a new class of networked quantum computers that combine distinct qubit types — such as trapped ions, neutral atoms, and/or superconducting qubits — into an interconnected, high-performance architecture, according to the company. IonQ said that this effort seeks to use advances in photonic integration and quantum interconnects for reliable communication between diverse qubit species. "We look forward to collaborating with DARPA to strengthen national security by developing the quantum platform which can serve as a backbone for networking and scaling quantum systems - across qubit types - for advanced public and private sector applications," said IonQ's Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi. DARPA is an independent research and development agency within the U.S. Department of War.

Nissan Motor ( NSANY ) has finally hit reset. On Tuesday, under CEO Ivan Espinosa , the company announced a fresh restructuring strategy to fix declining sales, rising debt, and an outdated car lineup. At the core of the strategy, Nissan Motor ( NSANY ) will reportedly cut its total models by ~20%, reducing from 56 to 45, and focus on three core vehicle families that will account for ~80% of total volume. The real focus is on growth markets. Nissan Motor ( NSANY ) aims to cross 1 million car sales each in the U.S. and China by 2030—levels it has not seen in years, reported Bloomberg. The growth will be driven by refreshed and hybridized models, including V6 hybrid versions and the revival of the Xterra SUV for the U.S. market. China is key to Nissan’s comeback—both for sales and production. The company plans to scale EV production and use China-based manufacturing to supply regions like Latin America and Southeast Asia with models like the N7 sedan and Frontier Pro pickup, helping cut costs and improve efficiency. Back home in Japan, the company is betting on small cars. A new compact model is expected to sell around 550K units annually by FY2031. At the same time, the company is upgrading its tech capabilities, starting with an improved version of its ProPilot driver-assistance system in upcoming models. This reset follows major shake-ups, including changes in its long partnership with Renault SA ( RNSDF ) and a failed merger attempt with Honda Motor ( HMC ). Overall, Nissan Motor's ( NSANY ) roadmap is clear—fix the outdated product lineup, reduce costs, build smarter cars, and transition toward EVs. However, NSANY stock traded down 2.43% to $4.29 in after-hours on April 13. More on Nissan Motor Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. 2025 Q3 - Results - Earnings Call Presentation Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Zhanna Hapanovich/iStock via Getty Images Back in August of 2025, I decided to take a fresh look at shares of Fair Isaac Corporation ( FICO ). Honestly, in many respects, it's the kind of company that I love. It is a rapidly growing cash cow of a business that should do well in the long run. But back then, I remained unhappy about how expensive the stock was. In fact, I even went so far as to reaffirm it as a Sell candidate. Since then, shares have fallen 26.8%, while the S&P 500 is up 7.9%. But that's nothing. The stock is actually down 44.9% since I first rated it a Sell back in April of that year. The market, meanwhile, is up 33.5%. Interestingly, this downside can be attributed entirely to the fact that the stock was overpriced. After all, the business continued to post attractive growth year over year all the way up through the first quarter of 2026. Now, the stock is still rather expensive on an absolute basis. But compared to where it has been in the past, it is priced low enough in my view to justify upgrading it to a Hold. Hopefully, as the new data comes in, I will be given a reason to upgrade it even further. I would love little more than to do that. The good news is that, in the coming days, management will be announcing results for the second quarter of the company's 2026 fiscal year on or about April 27th . The current expectation is that revenue and profitability will rise materially. And if we have some insight into what the future might look like, and if that indicates an attractive valuation on a forward basis, upgrading the stock further could make sense. Checking in on Fair Isaac Corporation Operationally speaking, Fair Isaac Corporation strikes me as a fascinating business. The largest chunk of the firm, as measured by profitability, happens to be its Scores segment, which is famous for its FICO Score that has served as one of the three largest credit ratings in the U.S. In fact, management has described its FICO Score as the U.S. industry stand...
