The Russell 2000 is the market's most commonly used benchmark for small caps . While it has its flaws, it's consistently demonstrated that it can do very well in the right environment. And it provides investors one of the most comprehensive ways to invest in this category. The Vanguard Russell 2000 ETF (NASDAQ: VTWO) is one of the best and cheapest ways to target this index. Its expense ratio of 0.06% is one of the lowest in this space. And its willingness to hold every stock in the index, rather than just most, to achieve a close approximation ensures that this ETF remains very tightly linked to the Russell 2000 . There is a system, though The flock of 50 or so pigeons lifts from the barn roof as one. The loud clapping of wings makes the horses jump, even though this happens several times a day. I scan the sky for a peregrine but can’t see signs of danger. They swirl once, then settle back on to the corrugated metal roof. These farmyard pigeons are a mix of feral and wood pigeons that hang out happily together. The group will reduce soon. Some of the wood pigeons are probably continental winter migrants who will depart. The remaining males will then leave the communal roost and set up territory ready for the breeding season. Each will defend its area diligently, with that resonant, repetitive cooing. Continue reading...

While supply chain constraints limit growth and AI CapEx spending limits free cash flow, I do believe that Nebius Group is on the verge of transformative growth through contracts with hyperscalers such as Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Meta ( META ). In this report, I discuss the company’s most recent earnings, and I update the price target in support of my continued buy rating. Nebius Group is Finally Profitable on an EBITDA Basis Nebius Group (Shareholder Letter) In my prior report, I noted that Nebius Group was closing in on generating positive EBITDA. The company already was EBITDA positive on its cloud AI business, but its other business segments were still loss-making. In the fourth quarter, sales grew 547% to $227.7 million, and driven by cloud growth, which already had positive margins and improving operating leverage, the company generated a $15 million EBITDA, indicating a 6.6% EBITDA margin. Core AI cloud revenues grew 63% sequentially and 830% year-on-year, with margins growing 5 points sequentially to 24%. The company had an $834.3 million cash flow during the quarter primarily from upfront payments, while CapEx was $2.1 billion. So, free cash flow remains negative, but we note that receiving upfront payments reduces some of the capital needs to finance capital expenditures. The company ended the year with $529.8 million in revenues and a $64.9 million EBITDA loss, but we note that the Q4 performance and continued growth in 2026 position the company for a year with positive EBITDA. Free cash flow was negative $3.7 billion, and the company ended the year with $3.7 billion in cash. A significant portion of the cash pile and free cash flow burn was covered through the issuance of $4.16 billion in convertible notes and $1.15 billion in capital raised directly from shareholders. I believe t...
