Olena_T Stock index futures eased in early trading on Wednesday after the U.S. carried out retaliatory strikes on Iran, raising concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East, while investors also monitored key developments in the tech sector. Here are some of Wednesday's biggest stock movers: Biggest stock gainers Cracker Barrel Old Country Store ( CBRL ) +7% - Shares jumped after a beat-and-raise quarter that showed the chain is in turnaround mode and was strikingly better on a sequential basis from the prior few quarters. Total revenue fell 2.9% year over year for the quarter that ended on May 1. Comparable store restaurant sales decreased 2.6%, while comparable store retail sales decreased 1.8% to beat the consensus estimate for a decline of 5.4%. Cellectis ( CLLS ) +6.8% - Shares rose after the company said that its CD22-targeting allogeneic CAR-T therapy, lasme-cel, received FDA Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation for a severe form of leukemia. The granting of RMAT designation reflects the FDA's recognition of the potential for lasme-cel to address the unmet medical need faced by patients with r/r B-ALL, the company said. Biggest stock losers Supermicro ( SMCI ) 9% - Shares fell after the company proposed a series of equity and equity-linked financing transactions totaling $7B to help it fund the purchase of components necessary to complete recent orders for its advanced AI servers. The proposal includes $5B in underwritten public offerings consisting of $1.25B in common stock and $3.75B of depository shares. It also includes an up to $2B at-the-market offering program for common stock, which is expected to begin no sooner than the third quarter of 2026. Summit Therapeutics ( SMMT ) -6% - Shares plunged after announcing on Tuesday that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of $500M of shares of its common stock. Johnsen将这套架构概括为"这一切相互咬合、协同运转"(all of these play into each other and work together),并强调每个业务层面均对外开放——竞争对手可购买SpaceX发射服务,Starlink面向所有人,地面算力对外销售,Grok亦开放使用。

China is pitching its far-western Xinjiang region as a commercial gateway to Central Asia and Europe, courting neighbors at a moment when overland trade routes are drawing renewed attention due to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Chen Xiaojiang, who was appointed Communist Party secretary of Xinjiang a year ago , used a rare speech before foreign officials on Wednesday to set out his vision. He vowed to deepen cooperation with neighbors and touted the region, once plagued by ethnic unrest, as “a bridgehead for China’s westward opening.” “Xinjiang has entered the best period of development in its history,” Chen said, adding that the region “is opening ever wider to the outside world.” Chen spoke at the start of a conference on regional cooperation in Altay, a city near the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Nyamtaishir Nomtoibayar was among the attendees. While overland routes carry only a fraction of China’s trade, which moves overwhelmingly by sea, the near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the US-Israeli war against Iran has sharpened Beijing’s interest in corridors beyond unstable waters. Read More: Iran Turns to China Rail Link to Try to Bypass US Blockade The disruption has triggered a global energy crisis, pushing up China’s producer prices at the fastest pace in nearly four years. This forces Chinese companies to absorb the oil shock as weak domestic consumption prevents them from passing on higher input costs, squeezing profit margins and weighing on the economy’s long-term outlook. Chen called for the development of “efficient and convenient major transport corridors,” citing the planned China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, and expanded China-Europe freight services. Xinjiang handled 18,000 freight trains to Europe and Central Asia last year, he said, more than 60% of the national total. The address marks one of the most comprehensive public statements ye...

What about using voice notes, or calling someone totally unannounced? Experts give their verdict on how to use your phone without causing offence It is not news that many of us are addicted to our phones and nor is it a revelation that inconsiderate public behaviour now appears to be the norm, but when the two collide it can cause anger. Last week, at the end of a performance of the drama Inter Alia in London’s West End, the actor Rosamund Pike took to the stage after the curtain call to announce that she had seen someone texting during the performance. “I just wanted to say for anyone going to the theatre, it’s a huge thing that we’re trying to give you. I am trying to tell you a story, and I’m feeling you, and I hope you’re feeling me too … Maybe it was very important, and maybe you’re a doctor, and you’re saving someone’s life, and I hope you are, but we do see these, we do feel them.” What is the correct etiquette when using your phone? Myka Meier, author of Modern Etiquette Made Easy, says: “It is always thinking about other people before yourself when you’re on the phone.” This also means being aware of how disabled people might use, and rely on, their phones. As an academic with hearing loss pointed out to the BBC after Pike’s comments, bans on phones in theatres, or public shaming, could exclude disabled people in audiences, such as those who use hearing aid apps and need to adjust the settings. These sprays have a blurry finish that flatters everyone I don’t know how any makeup wearer lives without setting spray, but for oily skins I do recognise it has pitfalls as well as many benefits. Setting spray keeps makeup in place when warm weather might otherwise melt it away, and allows for creamier, more flattering products to be used in place of powders. But it also cuts through the dusty look of any powdery makeup to give it a softer, more youthful finish. Continue reading...

Turkey’s central bank is poised to leave its benchmark interest rate unchanged in the face of a cooling economy and subdued foreign currency demand despite rising prices driven by the Iran war. All but three economists in a Bloomberg survey of 21 participants expect the Monetary Policy Committee to hold the one-week repo rate at 37% for the third consecutive meeting on Thursday. JPMorgan Chase & Co is one of the few calling for borrowing costs to rise to 40%. Since the start of the Iran war, the central bank, led by Governor Fatih Karahan , has tightened policy without touching the benchmark rate. It paused lending from the 37% facility and shifted to the costlier overnight rate of 40%. Gross foreign exchange reserves have fallen by $20 billion since the start of the war, and the central bank has sold or swapped gold holdings to resist further pressure on the lira. Turkey, a major oil and natural gas importer, also faced a surge in energy costs after the Strait of Hormuz was effectively closed. This has contributed to annual inflation accelerating for two straight months. Although some economists argue that seasonally adjusted measures point to an underlying improvement in consumer prices, most see inflation ending the year around 30% — a more pessimistic outlook than the central bank’s forecast of 26%. “We think the Turkish central bank is likely to hold rates, keep effective funding at 40%, and reassess its stance” once there’s a clearer picture of the Iran conflict, Bank of America Securities economist Hande Kucuk wrote in a note dated June 5. She added that weaker-than-expected first-quarter gross domestic product growth and low retail demand for foreign currency were likely to reinforce the bank’s view to continue with current policies. Karahan has sent mixed signals on the path ahead. At a presentation last month, he defended April’s hold decision by citing limited deterioration in the inflation outlook and expected long-term improvement. But he also cautioned...
