Apple Inc. and Google have continued to offer mobile apps that let users make nonconsensual sexualized images of people despite their policies prohibiting such content, according to a report published Wednesday by the Tech Transparency Project. Searching for terms like “nudify” and “undress” in the Apple and Google app download stores gives customers access to software that can be used to alter images of celebrities and others to make them appear nude or in a state of partial undress, according to the group , a research arm of the nonprofit Campaign for Accountability. The companies also run ads for similar nudifying apps in their search results. Apps identified by the group have been downloaded 483 million times and generated $122 million in revenue, according to the report, which cited revenue estimates from market researcher AppMagic. A spokesperson for AppMagic said the Tech Transparency Project’s work has resulted in several apps being removed and prompted others to change their user policies. Over the past year, politicians around the world have ratcheted up calls to curb the spread of nudifying apps. Earlier this year, the companies removed apps flagged by the Tech Transparency Project. But just a few months later, dozens of similar ones could be found, researchers from the organization said. “It’s not just that the companies are failing to actually appropriately review these apps and continue to approve them and profit from them,” Katie Paul, director of the project, said in an interview. “They are actually directing users to the apps themselves.” From its app store searches, the group identified 18 apps with nudifying capabilities in the Apple App Store and 20 in the Google Play Store. In addition, both Apple and Google sometimes directed users to the apps via their autocomplete feature by suggesting the names of more nudifying apps as users typed, the researchers said. Some of the apps used names and images that cast them in a sexual light. Others could ea...

Operating revenue rose 5% year-over-year to $3.06B. GAAP EPS of $1.49 was ahead of the consensus estimate of $1.46 and topped last year's mark of $1.17. Operating income rose 16% to $207.0M, driven by higher revenue, execution on the company's initiative to eliminate structural cost, and improved productivity across the organization. Those factors were partially offset by higher purchase transportation expenses, particularly in the ICS and JBT segments. The intermodal segment volume increased 3% during the quarter, and revenue was up 2%. Transcontinental network loads were flat, while eastern network loads increased 7% compared to a year ago. Dedicated Contract Services segment revenue was up 2%, driven by a 2% increase in productivity (gross revenue per truck per week) as average trucks were approximately flat versus the prior-year period. Integrated Capacity Solutions segment revenue increased 20% during the quarter. Overall segment volume increased 10% versus the prior year period with growth in both contractual and transactional volum CEO update: "We began the year with strong financial results, building on the momentum we established in 2025, and once again executed well in safety performance by setting a first-quarter record. While the operating environment remains dynamic, we continue to leverage our investments in our people, technology, and capacity, positioning the company to drive long-term value for our shareholders." During FQ1, the company purchased approximately 383K shares of common stock for approximately $80M. As of March 31, the company had approximately $888M remaining under its share repurchase authorization. Shares of J.B. Hunt ( JBHT ) were up 1.3% in the late session. Schneider National ( SNDR ) and Old Dominion Freight Line ( ODFL ) also showed minor gai...

White House: 'Era Of Amnesty Is Over' Authored by Catherine Salgado via PJ Media , “ No more activist judges shielding criminal illegals. No more endless delays. Only results .” The Trump White House is celebrating multiple massive immigration enforcement wins that signal the era of mass migration and mass amnesty is over. AP Photo/Gerald Herbert Since Donald Trump came back into office, federal authorities have removed three million illegal aliens from the United States through ICE deportations or voluntary deportations, which is the biggest reduction in illegal migration in modern history, according to a White House press release on April 9. This is exactly what the American people voted for. This is the sort of reform we hoped to see when immigration became one of the top issues in the 2024 election. Besides the three million deportees, border officers have not released a single illegal alien into the United States at our borders for 11 straight months. The “era of amnesty is over,” indeed. The overwhelming majority of asylum claims have long been fraudulent, and that is one major area where the Trump administration implemented reform. The U.S. immigration authority now grants asylum in only 7% of cases, slashing the number of criminals and illegal aliens who tried to use asylum claims as a free ticket into our country. In contrast, under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the government approved over 50% of asylum claims, according to the release. I will give just two illustrations of why this is a big deal. First, just this week, the U.S. State Department revoked the lawful permanent resident status it had granted to Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of mass-murdering Iranian jihad leader Qasem Soleimani. Afshar had obtained residency and a life of luxury in the United States by claiming asylum here. Yet she repeatedly returned to Iran and regularly spouted pro-regime propaganda, illustrating how bogus her asylum claim was . And second, back in 2024, an Ecuadoran “...

Davis Turner/Getty Images News Duke Energy ( DUK ) said Wednesday it has filed a request with the North Carolina Utilities Commission to raise customer rates to recover more than $800M in higher fuel and power purchase costs incurred during an extreme winter cold snap. Duke ( DUK ) said the request for recovery of fuel and purchased power costs incurred this past winter - totaling $500M for Duke Energy Carolinas and $309M for Duke Energy Progress - represents the actual expenses, without markup, necessary to supply power. The company said extreme cold in late January and early February in its service area drove demand beyond existing generation and storage capacity, forcing it to buy additional power from neighboring utilities at high market prices. Typical residential customers of Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress using 1,000 kWh/month would see an increase of ~$6.90/month and ~$7.88/month, respectively, starting June 1, the company said. Just_Super/iStock via Getty Images Investment Thesis While I am probably one of the biggest bulls out there, shares of quantum computing firm IonQ, Inc. ( IONQ ) have dropped over 8% YTD on the back of a risk-off market that has punished companies that are mainly valued on their future potential (such as IonQ). As a bull, this has been frustrating. While shares are clearly in a bear market compared to their all-time high, I think the fundamental story has continued to improve for the quantum industry as a whole and for IonQ. Recent papers put out both by Google ( GOOGL ) and by researchers here in the US have shown that the number of estimated q-bits needed to hack traditional encryption techniques (such as the technology that secures Bitcoin) has dropped by over 90% in the last year. In essence, the ‘doomsday’ for many cybersecurity analysts in the future, where hackers can break traditional encryption and steal financial data, money itself, or do something even worse, is far closer than people originally expected. The result is really a game changer for IonQ. I believe this will accelerate the timeline many CISOs follow in making their networks ‘quantum ready.’ For IonQ, this is a huge accelerant for their Quantum Key Distribution business. IonQ could be on the precipice of their own ‘ChatGPT’ moment, where quantum cyber becomes just as real as AI has become over the last four years. With this, shares continue to be a Strong Buy despite the sell-off. Why I'm Doing Follow Up Coverage While IonQ shares have had a big move this week on the back of World Quantum Day and their new DARPA contract , they are still down roughly 10% from the last time I wrote about them before Q4 earnings (back in January). I think this drop is unwarranted. IonQ’s story over the last two and a half months has improved significantly. The market is really starting to realize the need for making global IT networks post-quantum secure. With this, I believe the company is now facing its ‘ChatGP...
