jetcityimage/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Takeda ( TAK ) announced that the Food and Drug Administration has accepted its marketing application aimed at expanding the U.S. availability of its inflammatory bowel disease therapy, Entyvio, for children. The regulator has issued a target action date in Q1 2027 for the Japanese drugmaker’s supplemental Biologics License Application. The biologic treatment is already available in the U.S. for adults with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease for both intravenous and subcutaneous administration. Takeda’s ( TAK ) sBLA seeks to expand its intravenous formulation for children aged two years and older with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Subject to FDA approval, Entyvio will be the only gut-focused medicine available in the U.S. for this patient group, the company said. The Tokyo-based firm has already submitted a marketing authorization application targeting EU approval of Entyvio IV to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease in the same age category. A viral trend based on an eastern classic, this rolled, multilayered dish is a fun way to use up wilting leaves that also looks impressive on the table When I started looking into the idea of a lettuce omelette, mainly to use up leftover dressed salad, I soon found out that it’s something of a social media trend , as well as a classic Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese dish. In the trending recipe, the egg whites and yolks are often separated, then the whites are mixed with lettuce and cooked first. This is rolled, then the yolks go into the same pan and, once they’re set, they’re rolled around the whites to make a beautiful, multilayered omelette with a white-green interior and a golden outside. It’s a great way to use up dressed salad, but fresh or wilted leaves will work, too, if those are all you have. I prefer bitter and spicy leaves such as mustard, mizuna and rocket, but everything works. Iceberg, for instance, is often used in modern Chinese recipes. Serve this plain, or with crispy chilli oil, soy sauce flavoured with minced garlic and ginger, miso mayo, or all three. To make miso mayo, mix 60g mayonnaise with a tablespoon of white miso paste, then stir in an optional teaspoon of sesame oil, some finely grated garlic and ginger, and a squeeze of lemon. Wall Street has spent months debating how much SpaceX is worth. Behind the scenes, a different challenge has occupied the institutions responsible for bringing it public: preparing the plumbing systems needed to support what could become the largest IPO in history. S&P Global Inc. ’s Equity Bookbuild group, which helps underwriters capture and allocate investor demand during initial public offerings, has spent weeks expanding the efficiency and capacity of its infrastructure ahead of SpaceX’s Friday trading debut. At Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. , staff plan to spend the weekend monitoring systems and communicating with industry peers. A blockbuster IPO is not just a test of investor demand. It is also a test of the technology, communications networks and risk-management systems responsible for processing millions of orders, messages and transactions at near-instantaneous speeds. Brokers, exchanges, market makers and clearing firms must all operate in sync as orders are routed, trades executed and transactions settled. SpaceX amplifies those demands. The company is expected to attract outsized interest from institutions, retail investors and exchange-traded funds alike. The offering has already generated more orders than shares available, according to people familiar with the matter, raising expectations that trading volumes could rank among the largest ever seen for a newly public company. At S&P Global’s Equity Bookbuild platform, preparations began roughly six weeks ago. The team used artificial-intelligence tools to identify potential bottlenecks and capacity constraints in what executives described as a “premortem” exercise designed to uncover weaknesses before they emerged in live trading. The result: a tripling of order-handling capacity and a fourfold improvement in response times. “The biggest worry is slowness in the system, orders not getting booked,” said Darren Thomas , head of enterprise solutions at S&P Global Market Intelligence. I listen to a lot of earbuds, but these three I actually use all the time. | Photo: John Higgins / The Verge I have been an audio reviewer for 20 years. My time as a freelance headphones panelist at Wirecutter , and the multitude of reviews I’ve written for sites like Reviewed , Digital Trends , IGN , and now The Verge , have given me the chance to listen to hundreds of earbuds. Some were truly excellent, and some were pretty hideous. Honestly, they tend to blur together as I move from new earbud to new earbud. But when something worthwhile comes around, it gets and holds my attention. These are the three sets that I reach for most often right now. Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Score: 8 Pros Cons Incredible call quality Great ANC Useful case screen Default sound profile needs tweaking Where to Buy: $169.99 at Amazon $169.99 at Anker $169.99 at B&H Photo For ages I relied on the Apple AirPods Pro — first the Pro 2 and then the Pro 3. But the new $170 Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro have been my go-to earbuds for the past month. I’m using them to listen to Lofi Girl as I write this. Their sound quality is really good after you use the Soundcore app to fine-tune the frequency response (out of the box the bass is too high, which causes vocals to get muddy and snare hits to be muffled). They fit my ears securely, and since they have an IP55 rating, I could see myself using them on a run in a pinch — though I prefer running with my Powerbeats Fit buds (see below). And they also support the LDAC high-res audio codec with supported devices (sorry, iPhone users). Noise cancellation is also top-notch and comparable to more expensive earbuds like the Apple AirPods Pro 3 (which we’ll get to in a few paragraphs). The Soundcore buds let in a little more midrange, but handle low-end drone with no problem. But call quality is the Liberty 5 Pro’s greatest strength. I’ve never heard earbuds that block out as much ambient noise, allowing me to sound clear on my calls and in meetings. Whether it’s a...

SparshFoto/iStock via Getty Images The last article that I wrote on Shell ( SHEL ) noted that the turnaround efforts often take a while before shareholders of a large company see the results. Shell reported the best quarterly earning s in two years while also spending some time on the ARC Resources acquisition. At the same time, there is a potential loss of a few hundred thousand BOED's because of the damage due to the Iranian war. That loss can easily be made up by growth projects that are scheduled to come online. Depending upon the actual schedule it make take a few quarters to make up for that shortfall. But it is not going to be a major disruption that would take years to make up for. Furthermore, much of the Middle East is considered relatively low risk by the industry. Therefore, the production loss may not translate into the same profit loss because often times, the profitability happens due to volume rather than margin. The low-risk accounts for the switch to a volume-based business for profitability whereas a margin emphasis would indicate a higher risk situation. Now whether the current Middle East crisis changes that is probably up for discussion. Earnings The company has been getting rid of businesses that are not meeting profitability guidelines. At the same time, there is the acquisition of ARC Resources ( AETUF ) because it is very profitable. All of this points to the idea that the improving profitability goal will finally become apparent to investors. That may just provide some downside protection in the next cyclical downturn. Shell Summary Of First Quarter 2026, Earnings (Shell Earnings Press Release First Quarter 2026) Shell had an unexpectedly large first quarter earnings. Note though that cash flow did not follow suit as the volatility at the end of the month had a big effect on working capital. Now that particular effect may stay in working capital as long as commodity prices remain high. Fortunately, the jump in earnings (and the correspondi...

AlexLMX/iStock via Getty Images By Kelvin Wong The US CPI shock and a hawkish Fed The market enters today’s US CPI print, facing building macro headwinds and energy shocks stemming from the ongoing Middle East conflict. Following a complete evaporation of Fed rate cut bets for 2026, the market is aggressively positioned for a bear-flattening yield curve environment under Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. With futures now pricing in a 61% probability of a 25-bps hike in October, an upside surprise in today’s CPI, potentially pushing inflation to multi-year highs, will solidify the higher-for-longer regime and maintain structural upward pressure on the greenback. BoJ’s balancing act - The June rate hike vs. bond taper pause Next week (June 15-16), the Bank of Japan is widely expected to shift its narrative toward becoming an active “inflation fighter”. Aggregated polls show nearly 94% of economists expect Governor Ueda to deliver a 25-basis point hike, lifting the short-term policy rate to 1.00% from 0.75%, a level last seen in 1995. This hawkish tilt is directly responsive to the persistent inflationary impulses generated by the US-Iran war. Crucially, to mitigate political friction with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and stabilize a volatile sovereign bond market where the 10-year Japanese Government Bond (JGB) yield has recently hit a 30-year high of 2.8%, the BoJ is leaning towards pausing or slowing its bond-purchase taper next fiscal year. By freezing further monthly purchase reductions (potentially keeping them steady near 2.1 trillion yen), the central bank hopes to cap the blowout of debt-servicing costs before yields breach the painful 3% threshold. The European Commission shouldn’t have given in to pressure from governments seeking extra leeway for energy-related aid, the European Union’s budget watchdog said. In one of the most stinging rebukes delivered since its creation a decade ago, the European Fiscal Board highlighted risks posed to consumer prices and to the credibility of revamped deficit rules, and criticized how an exemption for military spending has been exploited. “This new and additional element of flexibility could generate an unwarranted positive fiscal impulse and comes at a moment where the level of fiscal support is still high and inflation increasing markedly,” the panel said on Wednesday. “Moreover, the apparent treatment of the energy shock in extending the scope of the national escape clause to energy support measures in addition to defense expenditure is highly questionable.” The report from the EFB, a panel of fiscal experts created during the euro zone’s debt crisis but limited to only an advisory role, points to wider unease at the commission’s move in the same week that finance ministers will discuss its proposal. In the announcement last week, the bloc’s executive arm surprised some governments and officials by offering flexibility for green-related measures that breach the EU’s fiscal framework, despite previously claiming such a step wasn’t warranted. That followed pressure from leaders including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni . The EFB’s report arrived on the eve of a decision by the European Central Bank , which is poised to raise interest rates to contain energy-driven inflation and could signal further tightening ahead. When the last cycle began four years ago, governments also showed little fiscal restraint. “Main lessons from that period relate to the fact that broad-based energy support measures with an expansionary impact on aggregate demand are not helpful and potentially fuel inflation,” the EFB said, before observing that under current plans, “member states seem...
