United Parks and Resorts Inc. reported earnings and sales that trailed analyst estimates as the theme park operator struggled with dwindling attendance, especially from international park goers. The Orlando, Florida-based operator of SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Sesame Place parks said in a Thursday statement that its fourth quarter earnings per share were 28 cents. Profit was impacted in part by a loss from a write-off of debt issuance costs and discounts, the company said. Analysts estimated 56 cents. Revenue contracted for the sixth quarter in a row to $373.5 million, missing Wall Street’s expectations of $375.6 million and representing a 2.8% decrease year-over-year. The shares fell as much as 5.2% in premarket trading and had dropped 7% this year through Wednesday. “Our fiscal 2025 results did not meet our expectations,” Chief Executive Officer Marc Swanson said in the statement. “While the consumer environment was uneven and our results were impacted by negative international tourism trends and volatile weather during certain peak visitation periods, we should have delivered better results, particularly on the cost side of the income statement.” Attendance fell 2.6% year-over-year to 4.76 million, narrowly missing analyst estimates of 4.84 million. Park operators are struggling with attendance across the board. United Parks’ report follows Six Flags Entertainment Corp. ’s muted quarterly results , which saw attendance contract for the first time since 2023. Walt Disney Co. reported record sales at its theme park division but gave a tepid forecast for growth in the quarter ending March 28 due to demand headwinds from international tourists at domestic parks.

Borge Brende, said on Feb. 26 he was stepping down as president of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Bloomberg | Bloomberg | Getty Images The president and CEO of the World Economic Forum, Borge Brende, said on Thursday he was stepping down, a few weeks after the forum launched an independent investigation into his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Brende, who became president of the WEF in 2017, announced his decision in a statement following disclosures from the U.S. Justice Department that showed the Norwegian had three business dinners with Epstein and had also communicated with the disgraced financier via email and text message. "After careful consideration, I have decided to step down as President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. My time here, spanning 8-1/2 years, has been profoundly rewarding," he said. "I am grateful for the incredible collaboration with my colleagues, partners, and constituents, and I believe now is the right moment for the Forum to continue its important work without distractions," added Brende, a former Norwegian foreign minister. Brende made no mention of Epstein. In a separate statement, Andre Hoffmann and Larry Fink, co-chairs of the Geneva-based forum that organises the annual Davos summit, said the independent review conducted by outside counsel into Brende's ties with Epstein had concluded. The findings stated there were no additional concerns beyond what has been previously disclosed, it added. The co-chairs said the WEF's Alois Zwinggi will serve as interim president and CEO, and that the forum's Board of Trustees will oversee the leadership transition, including a plan to drive a process to identify a permanent successor.
