DENVER— The Global Positioning System is one of the few space programs that touches nearly every human life, and the stewards of the satellite navigation network are eager to populate the fleet with the latest and greatest spacecraft. The US Space Force owns and operates the GPS constellation, providing civilian and military-grade positioning, navigation, and timing signals to cell phones, airliners, naval ships, precision munitions, and a whole lot more. One reason for routinely launching GPS satellites is simply "constellation replenishment," said Col. Andrew Menschner, deputy commander of the Space Force's Space Systems Command. Old satellites degrade and die, and new ones need to go up and replace them. At least 24 GPS satellites are needed for global coverage, and having additional satellites in the fleet can improve navigation precision. Today, there are 31 GPS satellites in operational service, flying more than 12,000 miles (20,000 kilometers) above the Earth. Read full article Comments

Colombia ’s dollar bonds fell across the curve on Thursday and the peso led emerging-market losses after a new poll showed leftist Senator Iván Cepeda with a wide lead in the race for the presidency. Cepeda, an ally of President Gustavo Petro , led voter intentions ahead of this year’s election with 37.1%, more than double the 18.9% backing conservative lawyer Abelardo de la Espriella , according to an Invamer poll published by Noticias Caracol . The remaining candidates trailed with less than 12% each. In a potential runoff, Cepeda would win 59.4% of the vote versus 37.4% for de la Espriella. Dollar-denominated bonds maturing in 2041 fell nearly one cent to 89.9 cents on the dollar, pushing the yield up to 7.25% from 7.13%, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Yields on notes due in 2036 rose more than 11 basis points to 7.06%. The Colombian peso weakened as much as 1.2% to 3,739 per US dollar, its weakest level since early January. It is the biggest decliner among 22 emerging-market currencies tracked by Bloomberg. Cepeda has said he would continue President Petro’s social policies , aiming to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. Volatility in Colombian assets has intensified as investors weigh the prospect of policy continuity rather than a shift toward a more investment-friendly stance in the Andean nation. Colombia will hold the first round of its presidential election on May 31, with a potential runoff three weeks later.

The company has been through the wringer and has been out of favor with investors for some time. Here are the details of the new activist stake. From Reuters : Feb 20 (Reuters) - Pleasant Lake Partners disclosed a roughly 10% stake in toymaker Funko and said the company should consider strategic alternatives, including the possibility of a sale, according to a regulatory filing from Thursday. Shares of Funko were up about 25% on Friday. The company had a market capitalization of about $245 million as of Thursday's close. The New York-based hedge fund said it will engage with Funko's board and management on ways to boost shareholder value, advocating for an immediate and thorough exploration of alternatives for both strategic and financial acquirers. This company has been writing off a lot of assets, creating a negative GAAP income situation for quite some time. While non-GAAP measures remain positive, the business is seeing a top-line shrinkage: Data by YCharts A shrinking top-line means shrinking demand for the products they sell. Usually not a great premise for exploring a sale unless the prices were fire sale territory for the enterprise value versus the EBITDA. What they do From the most recent 10K: We create products to attract a broad array of fans across consumer demographic groups. We believe our broad appeal comes from our large selection of licenses and properties that we apply across a variety of product categories and brands. We do not limit ourselves by targeting discrete demographics such as only collectors or children seeking the latest (and often short-lived) toy craze. We strive to have something for everyone by offering figures and other product categories including bags, wallets, apparel, plush, accessories, homewares and more. We expect to continue to look for ways to diversify ou...

Richard Drury/DigitalVision via Getty Images Overview The Wasatch International Opportunities Fund—Investor Class declined -5.21% during the fourth quarter of 2025, underperforming the benchmark MSCI AC World ex USA Small Cap Index, which was up 2.96%. On a sector basis, the Fund's holdings in the information technology and industrials sectors were the largest sources of underperformance relative to the benchmark. On a geographic basis, Japan was the largest source of relative underperformance. As the yen weakened, we believe investors gravitated toward the stocks of large-cap exporting companies that benefit from a weaker local currency. Many of these large-cap stocks are also value stocks. The preference for such companies was a direct headwind for our positioning, as we tend to favor smaller, domestically focused, growth-oriented businesses. A weaker yen can be a marginal headwind to those companies, as it diminishes local consumers' spending power. As the year draws to a close, we also wanted to provide an update on annual performance. For the year, the Fund's investor class gained 1.79%, while the Index closed up 29.26%. The Fund performed in line with the benchmark through the first half of the year but then underperformed in the second half, a period in which the stocks of low-quality companies generally outperformed those of high-quality companies. Additionally, value stocks generally outperformed growth stocks during the second half of 2025. This type of market environment was a direct headwind to our investment process, which seeks high-quality, long-duration growth businesses across international micro-cap markets. What's been most frustrating about our relative performance, for both the quarter and the year, is that fundamentals for most of our companies remain quite strong in our view. Our investment thesis was wrong about a few of the companies we owned, and those stocks suffered losses and weighed on our performance. But as we look across the entire p...
