Among other decliners in the sector: Celanese ( CE ) down 8.4%, Methanex ( MEOH ) down 8.2%, Olin ( OLN ) down 6.8%, Tronox ( TROX ) down 4.6%, Chemours ( CC ) down 4%, Huntsman ( HUN ) down 3.8%. The potential easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East is pressuring chemical equities because lower oil and gas prices typically compress spreads and reduce pricing power across key products such as polyethylene and other derivatives. The companies had rallied in recent weeks on the back of higher crude prices, constrained global supply, and optimism around improving industrial demand, but with those tailwinds now fading and feedstock costs normalizing, investors are resetting expectations. matdesign24/iStock via Getty Images Thesis Summary In my last article on Tesla, Inc. ( TSLA ), I outlined why I continued to be bearish on the stock, even though I was looking at some positive developments in the company’s outlook. Over the last 30 days, we have continued to see some improved news for Tesla, and this time the market seems to have noticed. The stock is up 11% in the last week, and we may finally be seeing a shift in the technicals. The rollout of the Tesla Semi, the AI5 Chip and full self-drive ("FSD") in Europe are all positive catalysts that could have a meaningful impact over the coming months. I remain bearish but could begin to turn bullish if we break above key resistance and if the next quarter presents more positive news for the business. The Decoupling: Why Bad Deliveries Don’t Matter Tesla recently released its Q1 2026 delivery figures . The company delivered 358,023 vehicles, down 14% QoQ, and also short of analyst estimates of 380,000. While you’d expect this kind of news to hit the stock, Tesla’s shares pretty much bottomed after the release, and have since rallied strongly. This is good news for investors, since the shares seem to be decoupling from the auto business, which is struggling. Tesla has its sights set on much loftier goals, and so do investors. The Semi: From Pilot To Production In my March piece, I highlighted the impressive efficiency results from the Tesla Semi pilot with Mone Transport. As always, Tesla moves fast, and now the Semi, which opens up a $2 trillion market, has begun production. Tesla has officially broken ground and fast-tracked the dedicated Semi factory in Nevada . The factory will be located alongside the already existing Giga Nevada battery facility, allowing Tesla to benefit from vertically integrating the most important part of the truck, the battery cell. Tesla plans to scale to 50,000 units annually by 2027, and this could be a very meaningful source of income. If the math works out, which it does ba...

David Ramos/Getty Images News IBM ( IBM ) appears poised to surpass consensus estimates when it releases its first quarter 2026 financial results post-market on Wednesday, April 22, as it builds on its AI strategy, according to analysts. "While the prior year ended with a broad-based beat in Q4, the software outperformance came despite slower than expected growth from Hybrid Cloud, aka Red Hat," said RBC Capital Markets analysts, led by Matthew Swanson, in an investor note. "We'd expect things to pick up where they left off with a top-line beat driven by infrastructure and software strength being driven by Automation and Transaction Processing." Although Red Hat growth slowed to 8% from 12% in constant currency during the fourth quarter of 2025, IBM expects double-digit growth in 2026. RBC maintained its Outperform rating but reduced its price target to $330 from $361. Wedbush also retained its Outperform rating and $330 price target ahead of earnings. "Recent announcements continue to reinforce IBM's AI narrative heading into the print," said Wedbush analysts, led by Dan Ives, in a Friday investor note. "On April 1, IBM stated that 11 AI and automation software solutions received FedRAMP authorization, with the solutions deployed on AWS GovCloud to support secure and compliant government use cases, expanding IBM's footprint in federal and regulated markets. IBM also recently announced new cybersecurity measures to help enterprises confront agentic attacks, including a cybersecurity assessment and IBM Autonomous Security, a multi-agent-powered service designed to deliver coordinated response and intelligence at machine speed, further broadening IBM's AI value proposition into security." During the call, RBC analysts expect IBM to address concerns related to Anthropic's ( ANTHRO ) COBOL modernization solution. They also expect to hear more about the Confluent acquisition as well as quantum computing initiatives. A consensus estimate expects IBM to report adjusted EPS...

Researcher Valentina Bianchi says holding in information can take a mental toll. Here’s how to manage the stress of it all Tell us: do you use AI for fitness? Usually nothing makes me happier than receiving a message that starts with “don’t share this, but …”. Yet as I played the voice note on my phone, my gleeful anticipation turned to dismay. It was a juicy bit of gossip, but one I ultimately would have preferred not to know. Now I also had to conceal it from others. I’m an adult. Why do I regress under my parents’ roof? I like my own company. But do I spend too much time alone? People say you’ll know – but will I regret not having children? Continue reading...

Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz “completely open” for the remainder of a ceasefire, in what’s seen as a breakthrough toward a potentially lasting peace in the war with the US and Israel. The announcement today from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi came after US President Donald Trump confirmed yesterday a 10-day truce between Israel and Hezbollah Lebanon, which had been a key sticking point in peace talks. Trump said Iran was also removing sea mines from the strait, which couldn’t be immediately verified. However, a US naval blockade on the strait — designed to stop Iran from shipping oil to global markets — would remain in place until a broader agreement is reached, Trump said in a social media post today. Energy prices plunged on the news of the opening of the chokepoint where a fifth of global oil flows pass through. Brent futures retreated to near $90 a barrel in London, erasing this week’s gain, while West Texas Intermediate slumped near $85. European benchmark gas prices also fell sharply. Losses accelerated after Axios reported that the US is considering releasing $20 billion of frozen Iranian funds in exchange for the country’s stockpiles of enriched uranium, and that negotiators from the two sides would likely meet this weekend for another round of talks. Some Gulf Arab and European leaders said that a US-Iran peace deal would take about six months to be agreed. It may also take about two years to recover a significant share of oil and gas production that has been disrupted by the war, International Energy Agency Executive Director Fatih Birol told us. — Zoltan Simon What You Need to Know Today European leaders are meeting in Paris later today to discuss a potential mission to secure sea lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, amid a split between Germany and France over whether the US should take part. Chancellor Friedrich Merz wants the US involved while President Emmanuel Macron insists only “non-belligerent” countries join, we’re told. Any mission woul...

AnnaStills/iStock via Getty Images Introduction Back when I first covered Corsair Gaming ( CRSR ), I highlighted how the “AI Memory Demand And Weak Consumer Environment Create Long-Term Opportunity,” with Corsair still reporting double-digit growth and a solid foundation despite near-term pressure. Following a strong quarter and year, Corsair remains a Buy despite their surge on earnings day, with the business showing fundamental improvements, standing to benefit from the inevitable hardware replacement cycle while still being in a solid position to navigate (pun intended) a very tough consumer environment, with rising pressure following the Iran conflict’s escalation despite tariff tailwinds. Fundamentals Keep Improving Corsair Gaming IR CRSR reported a very strong Q4 report , beating the market’s expectations and jumping ~25% on the day of the release, delivering a 12% increase in net revenue and 84% growth in Adj. EBITDA, with the FCF reaching $34.75 million in 2025, above the $26 million seen in 2024 but below the $76.39 million from 2023, as a result of a mix between macro pressure and a significant hit from working capital changes, while the management highlighted during their Q4 Earnings Call : In line with the broader market, we did see softer holiday demand in North America in gaming peripherals, offset by stronger international performance. We expect demand to improve as we move through 2026, especially with the highly anticipated GTA 6 launch in Q4. Corsair Gaming IR For 2026, Corsair expects between $1.33 billion to $1.47 billion in net revenue (vs. $1.47 billion in 2025), Adj. EBITDA of $100 million to $115 million (vs. $100.6 million in 2025), aiming at improving the quality of their growth through a focus on higher-margin categories, scaling their ecosystem platforms, supply chain management and growth in DTC, expecting another $12 million hit from tariffs in 2026, although that was before the Supreme Court's decision, so that's a potential tailwind. ...

Cybertruck Sales "Propped Up" By SpaceX Buying Spree Bloomberg is out with a new report saying Tesla's Cybertruck sales were " propped up" in the fourth quarter by purchases from companies inside Elon Musk's business empire. SpaceX accounted for 1,279 Cybertruck registrations , or about 18% of all U.S. Cybertruck registrations during the last quarter of 2025. The report went on to say that xAI, Boring Co., and Neuralink also purchased the stainless-steel EV during the period. " That means almost one in every five Cybertrucks registered during the period were delivered from one part of Musk's sprawling business empire to another ," Bloomberg's Dana Hull noted. Hull added, " Without those sales to other Musk-run companies — which included xAI, Boring Co. and Neuralink, in addition to SpaceX — Cybertruck registrations in the fourth quarter would have fallen 51% ." Hull quoted Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting for advisory firm AutoForecast Solutions, who said, " Tesla is running out of buyers for the Cybertruck ." Hull said the registration data was sourced from S&P Global Mobility and, in her words, suggests only that " demand for the pickup is fading just two years after launch ." Cybertruck's struggles are not unique to Tesla. In fact, electric pickups have been a major bust across the U.S. EV market. Ford recently converted its electric F-150 Lightning production lines to extended-range hybrid vehicles. And we're sure in President Trump's war economy, autos will be converting EV lines or other production lines into making weapons ( read report ). Despite the continued downturn in EVs, Cox Automotive data show the Cybertruck was still the top-selling EV truck in the U.S. in the first quarter. High sticker price and elevated interest rates are likely major factors behind the Cybertruck's dismal sales . Bankrate data show the national average 60-month loan rate for new vehicles is still above 7%, down from 8% during the Biden years but still sh...
