Congressional Democrats are vowing to contest the Trump administration’s unprecedented actions against the artificial intelligence giant Anthropic PBC , which include a prohibition on all use in the federal government and by Pentagon contractors. Ron Wyden of Oregon, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, vowed to “pull out all the stops” to fight back after Anthropic was barred by President Donald Trump from all government business, and said he plans to seek bipartisan backing for legislation to address the issue. Anthropic has said AI models were not yet reliable enough for autonomous weapons systems and also objected to using its technology to power mass surveillance of Americans, even if doing so might technically be legal. “I’m going to use every opportunity to try to undo the damage that he did to AI over the last couple of days,” Wyden said of Trump. Earlier: Anthropic Made Pitch in Drone Swarm Contest During Pentagon Feud Representative Sam Liccardo , a California Democrat whose district includes a significant portion of Silicon Valley, said the debate over ground rules for deployment of AI technology shouldn’t be happening behind closed doors between one company and one federal entity. “There’s a reason why there ought to be a public discussion because it’s going to impact all of us certainly when we’re talking about like public surveillance,” Liccardo said in an interview with Bloomberg Television on Monday. Although in the minority, Senate Democrats’ votes will be needed to extend expiring surveillance and other authorities as well as to pass future defense spending and authorization bills. Wyden predicted some conservatives would also join the effort, given what he expected would be bipartisan concerns about widespread surveillance and allowing machines to make decisions on killing. “This is so breathtakingly wrong that I think we’ll have support across the political spectrum,” he said. NicoElNino/iStock via Getty Images It has only been two months since I published my last article about Constellation Software, Inc. ( CNSWF ), and usually I wait between three and six months before providing an update. In most cases, such a timeframe is more than enough, as the fundamental business of a company is not changing within a few months. However, in the case of Constellation Software, the stock price was almost in freefall over the last few months, and therefore I think we should look at the business and stock once again. In the two months since December 2025 (when my last article was published), the stock declined another 25% and is trading more than 50% below its previous all-time high (and the stock already increased more than 10% from its mid-February low again). Finviz The decline is not really surprising, as Constellation Software seems to be in good company. When looking at the heat map for the performance of S&P 500 stocks in the last six months, we see a lot of green, but we also see sectors in red, and two of those stand out: software infrastructure and software applications. Although investors are punishing almost every software company right now, we still can raise the question of whether these fears are justified, and of course we must look at individual companies, as not every software company will be affected in a similar way. Some companies will manage to perform better than others, and our job is to determine whether the sell-off for Constellation Software is justified or not. Looking at Some Metrics Again We start by looking at some metrics to get a feeling of where the stock is standing right now. I already mentioned in my last article that the current decline of the stock is the steepest in its history, and in the meantime, the decline only got steeper, with Constellation Software losing as much as 55% of its previous value (right now, it is 52% below its previous all-time high). Data by YCharts Of course, such a steep decline also has ...

Meta Platforms Inc. is testing a shopping research feature in its artificial intelligence chatbot, rivaling a similar tool offered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. The feature, which allows requests for product suggestions, is being rolled out to some US-based users of the Meta AI web browser. The chatbot responds with a carousel of product images that include captions with information about the brand, website, and price. It also offers a brief explanation of its recommendations in bullet-point form. A Meta spokesperson confirmed that the shopping tool is being tested, but declined to share further details. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has made it a goal for Meta to build “personal superintelligence” as it competes with other popular chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini , which have also begun incorporating ecommerce features to make money from their tools. During an earnings call in January, Zuckerberg said the company will start shipping new products in the coming months that can show Meta’s ability to provide a “uniquely personal experience” based on people’s history, interests, content and relationships.
