In an attempt to win the photography front of the war between the various Ultra flagships, Oppo has turned to a trick last employed by Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra . It's a better 10x lens than ever before, but is it good enough for the moments you might really need it? The long-distance lens is the best of its kind, but compared to this phone's other lenses it struggles a little with the usual suspects: moving subjects, low light, and moving subjects in low light. Fortunately the Find X9 Ultra is an excellent phone otherwise. It pairs … Read the full story at The Verge.

California School Excludes White Kids From Segregated 'Social Justice' Field Trip Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, In a stunning display of racial exclusion dressed up as “equity,” a California school district barred white students from a taxpayer-funded field trip centered on “social justice.” Albany Unified School District (AUSD) organized the overnight trip to Virginia exclusively for “young men and women of color” from Albany High School. White kids stayed home while their non-white classmates toured Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), visited civil rights sites, and held discussions on social justice, leadership, and self-awareness. The trip was officially approved by the board of education and cost the district $42,845. Documents obtained by the parental rights group Defending Education and shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation lay bare the full scope of this race-based program. EXCLUSIVE: California School Sent Kids On Segregated Field Trip For 'Social Justice': 'Organizing programs and initiatives around racial categories' https://t.co/hxkfukWnkn — Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 20, 2026 “This unique mentoring program encourages Albany High School young men and women of color to develop social, personal, and academic success skills,” the board document states. “Students gather in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to voice their needs and challenges. The students engage in enriching discussions on social justice, education, leadership, mental well-being, and self-awareness. This mentoring program is transforming the lives of young men and women of color to make a significant global impact in society.” Along with HBCU tours, participants visited the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, the Virginia Civil Rights Memorial, and the Black Heritage Trail. This is not an isolated incident. AUSD maintains a host of other race-specific initiatives. Its 2025-2026 Local Control and Accountability Plan includes “You...

Adil bouimama/iStock via Getty Images Intro I’ve had Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc. ( EOSE ) on my radar for years and have always been a fan of their story. In my view, they provide the missing piece in today’s energy landscape: a cost-effective, long-duration storage solution. However, while the technology is promising, the company’s financing history has been challenging. The financial situation improved in 2024 following the deal with Cerberus, which resolved the critical liquidity issue the company was facing at the time. That said, the deal came with harsh terms, and the risk of common shareholders being wiped out or heavily diluted felt uncomfortably high to me. After the latest recapitalization round last year in November, the funding situation improved significantly, and with the production ramp‑up, it seemed like an appropriate time to start following the company more closely again. Having postponed a deeper analysis for various reasons a couple of times, I decided to take a closer look now that the company has released its preliminary Q1 FY26 results, which could potentially mark a turning point in the company's not-so-smooth trajectory thus far. The big question, after the wide miss in last quarter's results and outlook, has become the credibility of management’s forecasts — something we should get more clarity on when the company reports its next quarterly earnings on May 5. Eos’ Differentiated Storage Solution Put simply, their energy storage solution offers a much-needed stabilizing bridge for times when the sun isn’t shining, and the wind isn’t blowing—smoothing out the peaks and valleys in power demand. At a more complex level, there are many use cases across the energy value chain where their technology serves as the critical missing link, enabling the entire system to operate with significantly greater efficiency. Parallels With Tesla Megapack I think another effective way to explain EOSE to someone less familiar with their story is through the lens...

Justin Paget/DigitalVision via Getty Images American Water Works (NYSE: AWK ) is the ultimate AI-proof business, a true forever asset that investors can tuck away forever and get what should be a nice long-term return. Here's why the stock is so attractive today. Introduction There are certain bills that you just can't get out of paying each month. We need electricity. Phone and internet service is also a necessity in today's world. And let's not forget about paying for somewhere to live. Even homeowners with a paid-off mortgage still have home insurance and taxes to pay for, never mind maintenance. And let's not forget the monthly expense most crucial to today's analysis -- water. Unless you want to stop showering and doing the laundry, there's no getting around paying the water bill. Water isn't about to be disrupted by any sexy new technology, either. American Water Works is the largest pure-play water utility in the United States. It owns 55,000 miles of pipe, 600 water treatment plants, 170 wastewater treatment plants, 1,200 wells, and 75 dams which collectively serve some 3.6M customer connections across 14 different states and 18 military installations. Pennsylvania is the largest state with 22.8% of connections, followed closely behind by New Jersey at 21%. Rounding out the top five include Missouri (14.3%), Illinois (10.5%), and Indiana (9.8%). Investor presentation The company was established back in 1886 as the American Waterworks and Guarantee Company. It slowly grew over the years and was one of the nation's largest utilities when it debuted on the stock market in 1947. It was eventually acquired by German utility RWE in 2003, but the marriage didn't last very long. RWE announced plans to divest American Water in 2005 and the company had its second IPO in 2008. RWE was completely out by the end of 2009. It has grown nicely in its second stint as a publicly-traded company, delivering excellent returns for long-term dividend investors. If an investor purc...

Scott Barbour/Getty Images News A Dutch climate activist group launched a new court case against Shell ( SHEL ) on Tuesday in the Netherlands, seeking to prohibit the company from developing any new oil and gas projects, Reuters reported. "Shell must stop bringing new oil and gas fields into production. This is necessary to protect us from Shell's climate-disrupting activities," Friends of the Earth Netherlands said in the summons it filed against the company. Shell ( SHEL ) called the case "unreasonable" after Friends of the Earth announced plans to file the legal action last year, saying the activist group ignored the global economy's need for fossil fuels and production would simply shift to other companies if Shell were ordered to halt operations. In 2024, the Court of Appeal of The Hague awarded Shell ( SHEL ) with a victory in a landmark climate case, overturning a lower court ruling that had obliged the company to slash its greenhouse gas emissions. Like many of its peers, Shell ( SHEL ) has scaled back its renewable energy operations and lowered emissions targets, and the company told investors last year that it was targeting a 4%-5% annual increase in liquefied natural gas sales over the next five years. A date for a hearing in the new case has not been set yet. Most orchestration frameworks were built for agents that run for seconds or minutes. Now that agents are running for hour s — and in some cases days — those frameworks are starting to crack. Several model providers, such as Anthropic with Claude Code and OpenAI with Codex, introduced early support for long-horizon agents through multi-session tasks, subagents and background execution. However, these systems sometimes assume agents are still operating within bounded-time workflows even when they run for extended periods. Open-source model provider Moonshot AI wants to push beyond that with its new model, Kimi K2.6. Moonshot says the model is designed for continuous execution, with internal use cases including agents that ran for hours and, in one case, five straight days, handling monitoring and incident response autonomously. But this growing use of this type of agent is exposing a critical gap in orchestration: most orchestration frameworks were not designed for this type of continuous, stateful execution. Open-source models, such as Kimi K2.6, that rely on agent swarms are making the case that their orchestration approach comes close to managing stateful agents. The difficulties of orchestrating long-running agents While it is true that some enterprises would rather bring their own orchestration frameworks to their agentic ecosystem, model providers and agent platforms recognize that offering agent management remains a competitive advantage. Other model providers have begun exploring long-running agents, many through multi-session tasks and background execution. For example, Anthropic’s Claude Code orchestrates agents with a lead agent that directs other agents based on a set of user-instructed definitions. OpenAI’s Codex runs similarly . Kimi K2.6 approaches orchestration with an improved version of its Agent Swarms, capable of managing up to 300 sub-agents “executing across 4,000 coordinated steps simultaneously,” Moonshot AI wrote in a blog post . e-crow/iStock via Getty Images Vox Royalty Analysis Data by YCharts Royalty and streaming companies don't attract as much attention from retail investors compared to the miners. There's typically no new discovery drill hole to post about (you often have to check the mine operator websites for those releases), and no quarterly production beat to cheer, as you see with the miners. But the business model is very appealing for investors. An investment in Vox gets you leverage to metal prices (mainly, gold prices) and upside from production growth, without the downsides of mine cost inflation, capex overruns, or labor issues. Vox Royalty Vox ( VOXR ) today trades as one of the smaller nams of the names in this sector, especially after EMX Royalty's merger with Elemental Altus. It has a market cap of roughly $361 million at $5.24 per share, as of writing on April 19. But make no mistake about it, this is a company with a pretty diverse portfolio of assets. It currently owns over 70 royalties and streams spread out over six jurisdictions. Its revenue is heavily weighted towards gold (75%), plus some copper and other commodities mixed in. I recently wrote about Vox's peer, Metalla Royalty & Streaming ( MTA ), and the two companies are similar. Both are paying-for-growth stories. Both look expensive on current earnings. But after going through Vox's 2025 results and 2026 guidance, I think this is the better of the two right now. Vox: A 2025 That Actually Delivered Look at what the company did last year to see how it has been delivering wins for shareholders. Annual royalty revenue reached $16.6 million, representing growth of 50% year-over-year. The company was active on the deal front, investing $75 million across four deals which added 13 new royalties to the portfolio. Meanwhile, it still managed to deleveerage the balance sheet, fully repaying its debt (while maintaining access to a $75 million credit facility). Finally, Vox benefited from its inclusion to the Russell 20...

mustafaU Attention is increasingly focused on the leadership outlook at the Federal Reserve as Kevin Warsh, nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as chair, faces scrutiny during his Senate Banking Committee confirmation hearing. Lawmakers are expected to press Warsh on key issues including monetary policy independence, inflation dynamics, and the future path of interest rates. Meanwhile, market-based indicators suggest growing uncertainty around his nomination. Prediction market data from Kalshi currently implies just a 24% probability that Warsh will be confirmed by May 15, the date marking the end of Jerome Powell’s term. The relatively low odds highlight investor skepticism about the timing and likelihood of a leadership transition, even as the nomination process continues to unfold in Washington. Below is when traders on Kalshi believe Warsh will be confirmed as Fed Chair: Before May 1, 2026 — 2.9% chance. Before May 15, 2026 — 24% chance. Before June 1, 2026 — 68% chance. Before July 1, 2026 — 83% chance. Before August 1, 2026 — 90.7% chance.
