NongAsimo/iStock via Getty Images Shares of foodservice industry technology solutions provider PAR Technology Corporation ( PAR ) have been crushed in the past 16 months despite achieving non-GAAP bottom-line profitability. Part of the fall is attributable to lower-than-expected annual recurring revenue growth in FY25 while multiples for SaaS providers compress due to fears regarding the existential threat from AI. With decent Street support, a new major account with the onboarding of Papa Johns ( PZZA ) , as well as the recent insider buying merited a deeper dive. An analysis follows below. PAR Stock Chart (Seeking Alpha) Company Overview: PAR Technology Corporation is a New Hartford, New York based software and hardware solutions provider to the foodservice industry. Its point-of-sale (POS), customer engagement, loyalty, digital ordering, delivery, payment processing, inventory management, and other solutions are employed in more than 179,000 restaurants and retail locations in over 110 countries. PAR was formed in 1968 as a Department of Defense contractor and developed one of the first commercial POS systems in 1978, later landing a partnership with McDonald’s ( MCD ) in 1980. The company went public in 1982 with its first trade transacted at $18.67 per share, after giving effect to a 3-for-2 stock split in 2006. Shares of PAR trade around $16.50 a share and sport an approximate market capitalization of just under $700 million. November 2025 Company Presentation Approach Collectively, the company’s omnichannel cloud-based software and hardware offerings from an open integration platform represent a one-stop shop for restaurants, eschewing the need for solutions from multiple vendors. PAR concentrates its tech-stack sales efforts on enterprise-level and fast-growing quick serve, fast casual, and table service restaurants, as well as convenience and fuel retailers. To prioritize these verticals, the company divested of its PAR Government Systems offering in 2024. ...

It's no secret that AI data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity, but a surprising new solution has emerged to combat the problem: Lab-grown diamonds. An undisclosed, US-based buyer—likely a tech company or data center developer—has placed a $300 million order for diamond-cooled AI servers, according to Akash Systems, the Peter Thiel-backed company that makes the tech. The diamonds, which are not a typical gemstone shape, will act as a "new layer in the data center cooling stack," according to a company spokesperson. "The diamond component is integrated in a server in between the GPU and the heat sink." The GPUs in this case are AMD's Instinct MI350X. The servers will be manufactured by Taiwan-based MiTAC Computing. Diamonds help prevent heat loss and cool the stack, reducing electricity waste. They have "the highest thermal conductivity of any known material, removing heat five times faster than copper, the industry standard material for heat management," Akash Systems says. When applied to AI data centers, the goal is to enable them to "run throttle-free at higher ambient temperatures" and reduce power consumption. (Credit: MiTAC Computing) "Together with MiTAC's global deployment capabilities, we're enabling data centers to realize impactful compute density and breakthrough energy efficiency," says Travis Karr, AMD's Corporate Vice President, Commercial and Enterprise for its AI business. Akash declined to confirm when the diamond-encrusted chips will go into service or to provide a photo of the solution. The image below shows an Akash-built diamond-cooling plate, though it is "not exactly what's being integrated with the AMD GPUs," the company says. Perhaps they will be more of a sheet or a blanket inside the chips, as IEEE Spectrum outlines in a report on the budding technology, an active area of research. One company, San Francisco-based Diamond Foundry, is working on making a thin layer of heat-dissipating diamond to attach to the back of the silic...

Michael Carrick has refused to rule out Manchester United catching Arsenal and challenging for the title, though the interim manager admitted a lot of wins would be needed. United recorded a sixth victory under Carrick when defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday, making it 19 points from 21 since he took over. Their form is the best in the Premier League over that period but United trail Arsenal by 13 points with a game in hand and have 10 matches to play. Carrick was asked before United’s game at Newcastle on Wednesday whether he would rule out catching Mikel Arteta’s team. “You can’t rule anything out in football,” he said, “but we’ve got to be realistic and know where it’s at. I think we’ve just got to try and keep winning games and see. Above us now there’s two fantastic teams. There’s some really good teams around us. We’ve had a good run, we’re certainly not getting carried away. You’ve got to be patient but you’ve got to be living in the moment a little bit, certainly, take the confidence. Wherever that’s going to take us, we’ll just have to see. But we’ll keep pushing.” Carrick won five championships under Sir Alex Ferguson as a United midfielder. It was put to him that the Scot’s fierce competitiveness could offer inspiration that the title can be claimed. “[I am] definitely ‘a glass is half full’ on what you can achieve more than the negative side,” Carrick said. “Of course, I’m being realistic about it – we have to win a lot of football matches for that to happen. “So we’ll do what we’ve been doing and go one at a time. We’ve got one more now and then we’ve got a little bit of a break before [Aston] Villa so we’ll go and give it everything on Wednesday night.” Quick Guide How do I sign up for sport breaking news alerts? Charles Dharapak | AP The House committee investigating the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has asked Goldman Sachs ' top lawyer, Kathryn Ruemmler , to testify about her interactions with Epstein, her spokeswoman said Tuesday. "Ms. Ruemmler welcomes the opportunity to appear before the Committee," said Jennifer Connelly, her spokeswoman. "At the time she interacted with Jeffrey Epstein, she was a practicing criminal defense attorney and shared a client with him," Connelly said. "She has done nothing wrong and had no knowledge of any ongoing criminal activity on his part." The House Oversight Committee's request that Ruemmler voluntarily appear before the panel comes nearly three weeks after she said she would leave Goldman Sachs at the end of June. Ruemmler's announcement came after a wave of new media coverage focused on her often-friendly email exchanges with Epstein. A bill to recognise English as an official language of New Zealand has cleared its first hurdle in parliament amid ridicule from opposition parties and linguists who say it is “unnecessary” and “cynical”. The bill seeks to give English, which is spoken by 95% of the country, the same official status as te reo Māori (Māori language) and New Zealand sign language. The bill said the status and use of the existing official languages would not be affected. Its introduction forms part of the coalition deal between the minor populist New Zealand First party and centre-right National party. On 3 March, the coalition, which also includes the minor Act party, voted in favour of the bill at the first reading, allowing it to move to select committee stage for public consultation and further readings in parliament. The timing is not clear but the bill has widespread support within the government and is likely to become law. During the debate, New Zealand First’s leader and foreign affairs minister, Winston Peters, said English had never been deemed official and the bill would “correct that anomaly”. He argued the use of Māori in public services was causing confusion. “This bill won’t solve the push of this virtue signalling narrative completely,” Peters said. “But it is the first step towards ensuring logic and common sense prevails when the vast majority of New Zealanders communicate in English, and understand English, in a country that should use English as its primary and official language.” Peters – who is Māori – has long opposed affirmative initiatives intended to advance Māori and criticised the use of Māori names for government departments. In 2025, a row erupted in parliament after Peters questioned why MPs were referring to New Zealand by its Māori name, Aotearoa, despite it being widely used, including on currency and passports. The National Party has said the legislation is not a priority, but they would support it as part of their coalition agreement, and MPs from N...

sean zheng lim/iStock via Getty Images Written by Nick Ackerman, co-produced by Stanford Chemist We had noted in our prior update on abrdn Healthcare Investors ( HQH ) that the fund was starting to do well. This was after healthcare started to get some more love from investors, after being one of the weaker-performing sectors. Today, those strong returns have also continued, with the fund outperforming the S&P 500 Index during this time, helped by some weakness in the technology sector. While not an appropriate direct benchmark, it can provide some overall context to the direction of the broader equity market. To help the fund's total share price return a bit more, the fund's discount has narrowed since our last write-up as well. In fact, the fund's premium nearly started trading at parity with its NAV recently, but it has widened back out, making it a more interesting candidate to consider. Though not as appealing as it was formerly. Some of this more recent discount widening appears to have occurred while the overall equity market has been seeing a bit of increased volatility, which is something we tend to observe in closed-end funds. When the broader equity markets start getting jitters, discounts often start to widen in these investment instruments. They will attempt to achieve this through "investing primarily in securities of healthcare companies." More specifically, they will place "an emphasis on mid to large cap biotechnology and pharmaceutical growth companies, with a maximum of 40% of the Fund's assets in restricted securities of both public and private companies." When it comes to its overall breakdown , the fund has favored investing most heavily in the biotechnology sub-sector of healthcare. This can make it a rel...

Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), global streaming TV and film platform, closed Tuesday at $97.7, up 0.63%. The stock’s move reflects continued enthusiasm following bullish analyst calls and optimism after Netflix walked away from a Warner Bros. Discovery (NASDAQ:WBD) deal. Investors are also watching whether advertising and organic growth can sustain recent gains. Trading volume reached 55.9 million shares, coming in nearly 8.6% above its three-month average of 51.5 million shares. Netflix IPO'd in 2002 and has grown 81,562% since going public. How the markets moved today S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) fell 0.95% to 6,817, while the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) slipped 1.02% to 22,517 as growth shares broadly cooled. Within entertainment, industry peers Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) closed at $103.3 (-0.99%) and Warner Bros. Discovery finished at $28.2 (-1.05%), lagging Netflix’s modest gain. What this means for investors Netflix stock bounced even among a sea of red in the markets today. A five-day rally has lifted the streaming service stock nearly 25%. That rally came after investors anticipated, and received confirmation, that Netflix was walking away from its proposal to acquire much of Warner Bros. Discovery. The company received a $2.8 billion termination fee after Warner Bros. deemed the bid by Paramount Skydance (NASDAQ:PSKY) superior. Investors applauded the company’s fiscal discipline after Netflix chose not to raise it’s offer. Today’s move higher was supported by a JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) upgrade that boosted its price target to $120. Investors will now watch as Netflix focuses on its core business and puts the termination fee windfall to work. Should you buy stock in Netflix right now? "The simple answer is that it's gambling. It just is," Mulvaney told CNBC's Contessa Brewer , saying the burgeoning industry needs extra scrutiny following betting activity ahead of the Iran war. "I buy a prediction contract, whatever that is, on the Lakers winning the basketball game. If you ask any ordinary human being if that's sports gambling, it absolutely is, they would think that it is," said the former South Carolina Republican congressman. Mulvaney, whose new coalition is called Gambling Is Not Investing, argued that the Commodities Futures Trading Commission is "set up to regulate markets," but it "is not set up to protect consumers," such as the ones buying contracts on prediction markets, which include Polymarket and Kalshi . The CTFC has argued that it should be the regulator of prediction markets, not state agencies. "Look, I used to be a federal regulator," Mulvaney said. "I ran the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Have nothing but the highest respect for the CFTC , but they're not in the same business as regulating, say, sports gambling." ablokhin/iStock Editorial via Getty Images JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF ( JEPQ ) provides an attractive yield of 10.6%. But this income comes with a large constraint on future upside. 2025-2026 has been a perfect ground for JEPQ to shine. Recent events like sideways markets, higher interest rates, and higher volatility helped JEPQ keep its yield high and show strong relative performance. But its material upside cap is a problem long-term. It limits not only distribution growth but also JEPQ's future total returns. JEPQ’s Focus on Downside Protection Unlike other covered call funds focused on the Nasdaq-100, JEPQ does not follow its underlying index one-for-one. Its stock sleeve is driven by quantitative models. These models rely on inputs like JPMorgan analysts’ forecasts, fundamentals, and more. As a result, JEPQ's portfolio resembles the Nasdaq-100 with 2-3% tracking divergence. This divergence is the result of JEPQ’s focus on stocks with a more conservative risk/reward profile. This likely means less downside/volatility, but potentially less upside too. Also, JEPQ may hold off-benchmark equities. Although their weight is limited to 20%. The options sleeve is where JEPQ places material constraint on its future upside. The fund sells out-of-the-money call options on the Nasdaq-100 index with a one-month expiration. JEPQ targets a certain fixed delta to determine strike prices of its written options. In other words, JEPQ selects strike prices based on probability of profit regardless of underlying price or volatility. Historically, the strike price JEPQ has chosen has hovered around 2.5% above the index price. The problem arises when the Nasdaq-100 rallies by more than 2.5% + premium income. JEPQ’s upside gets capped. While premium income does shield the fund from some downside, it is still exposed to a lot of it, as I will discuss below. JEPQ does not sell call options directly. Instead, it packages them into so-called equity-linked notes, or ELNs. For...

Evercore ISI Reaffirms Amphenol Corporation (APH) Outperform Rating Amid AI Data Center Demand Amphenol Corporation (NYSE:APH) ranks among the best performing S&P 500 stocks in the last 10 years. On February 26, Evercore ISI reaffirmed its Outperform rating and $165 price target for Amphenol Corporation (NYSE:APH), noting that concerns about a shift away from copper are exaggerated, as Nvidia's upcoming Rubin platforms will continue to use copper for connections. Amphenol's involvement in delivering these, in addition to AI-specific components, indicates that it will continue to outperform, with the possibility for further revenue growth from IT/Datacom. Additionally, Amphenol Corporation (NYSE:APH) recorded record revenues of $6.44 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, a 49% increase from the previous year. Given strong demand from AI-focused data centers, the IT/Datacom category, which accounts for 38% of overall revenue, expanded organically by 110%. Notably, Amphenol's acquisition of CommScope's CCS division in January 2026 expanded its fiber-optic services and strengthened its high-speed copper services, positioning the company as a leading provider for AI clusters and large-scale data centers. Amphenol Corporation (NYSE:APH) is a leading manufacturer of electronic and fiber optic connectors, cables, and interconnect systems. Its products serve industries like automotive, aerospace, defense, and industrials. (MU) Price Target Raised to on DRAM Strength and Memory Market Recovery Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) ranks among the best performing S&P 500 stocks in the last 10 years. Morgan Stanley boosted its price target for Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) to $450 from $350 on February 11, while keeping an Overweight rating on the company's shares. The firm highlighted continuous DRAM price rises and supply bottlenecks as major reasons for its more optimistic view. Morgan Stanley reported that DDR5 spot pricing has already grown by 30% year-to-date and is now 130% higher than January contract rates. The company pointed out that standard DRAM pricing might double again while remaining more than 10% below current spot prices, which keep rising. By this point, contract prices are 86% higher than they were in December. Morgan Stanley believes the widespread DRAM scarcity will continue, with supply growth in 2026 estimated to be inadequate in easing market pressure, likely forcing further price rises throughout the year. Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) designs, develops, manufactures, and markets memory and storage products, including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), flash memory (NAND), solid-state drives (SSDs), and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) globally.
