Donny DBM/iStock via Getty Images U.S. equities sold off sharply through late March on geopolitical tensions and Fed caution, then rebounded in early April on stronger-than-expected jobs data and easing macro fears. ImmunityBio ( IBRX ) entered at the maximum 3% weight on a social sentiment surge around its cancer immunotherapy ANKTIVA, joined by four crypto-related equities signaling a broad inflection in digital asset sentiment. U.S. equity markets experienced continued volatility and a broad-based defensive retrenchment through much of the recent period between selection dates (March 12, 2026 – April 9, 2026, the “Period”), before staging a sharp recovery in the opening days of April that lifted the major indices back into positive territory. The opening phase extended the risk-off dynamics that had taken hold in early March, with the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict showing no immediate signs of resolution. Elevated energy prices, still reflecting earlier disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, kept inflation concerns elevated, while the Federal Reserve’s March 18 meeting delivered little reassurance, holding the target upper bound of its policy rate at 3.75 percent and maintaining a cautious stance amid unresolved macro crosscurrents. Investor positioning shifted decisively away from long-duration growth and AI-related equities, with software, semiconductor, and digital infrastructure names among the hardest hit as valuation support eroded and correlations spiked. By late March the Nasdaq Composite ( COMP:IND ) had slipped into correction territory, and both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq had recorded intra-Period drawdowns of approximately 5 percent. Against this backdrop, the BUZZ NextGen AI US Sentiment Leaders Index (the “ BUZZ Index”) proved especially vulnerable, selling off more than 10 percent during the Period as its higher-beta constituents participated disproportionately in the liquidation phase. The tone improved materially in the first nine days of April, though the...

A_Columbo/iStock Editorial via Getty Images I reiterate my Strong Buy rating on GE Vernova Inc. ( GEV ) after the stock price obliterated my $1,000 price target following a blowout Q1 2026 earnings report . The quarter did more than beat the Street's estimates. What caught my eye in the report were several signs that suggest that the gas turbine and electrification supercycle is far from its peak. In the power segment, the combined Gas Power backlog plus slot reservations increased from 83 GW to 100 GW in just one quarter, with management now expecting at least 110 GW by year-end. On the electrification side, the company booked $2.4 billion of data-center-related equipment orders in Q1, more than all of 2025. I think this is enough proof for me to hold my position after the blowout quarter. The wind segment is still under pressure, so I wouldn't discard more quarters like Q3 2025 ahead. However, I think the growth story of the two main segments (power and electrification) points to a higher price tag this year. Q1 2026 - Another Blowout Quarter By far, the item that caught my eye was the proof that the gas-turbine supercycle is still tightening, far from its peak. In Q1 , the combined Gas Power backlog (plus slot reservations) rose from 83 GW to 100 GW, and management now expects at least 110 GW by year-end 2026. On top of that, management said that the H1 2026 orders are being priced 10-20 points above Q4 '25 on a dollars-per-kilowatt basis. The outlook for the power segment in Q2 is looking at 15-17% organic revenue growth (vs. 10% in Q1). Notably, management expects an expansion to EBITDA margins as well, projecting 17-18% for Q2 vs. 16.3% in Q1. GE Vernova To me, this is a strong sign that the gas power supercycle is far from its peak. That's essentially the main concern of the bears on this stock. Why? Because of its grotesquely overvalued multiple . As I'm writing, the stock is trading at 75x forward earnings. At that valuation, any signs of a deterioration in...

Gilead Sciences ( GILD ) shares snapped a six-session losing streak, closing 0.56% higher at $133.64 on Thursday. The biopharmaceutical company began its downward trend on April 15, and the stock lost nearly 5% over the preceding six sessions. GILD closed 0.3% lower at $132.90 on Wednesday. The firm’s shares have slipped more than 2% over the past month. Looking at Seeking Alpha's Quant Rating , GILD has a Hold rating with a score of 3.11 out of 5. The company received an A+ for profitability prospects, while it got a D+ for revisions. Turning to the Wall Street community , 22 out of 30 analysts rated GILD a Buy or higher, while eight gave it a Hold recommendation, and none recommended Sell or lower. However, Seeking Alpha analysts are cautious and view the stock as a Hold . Seeking Alpha analyst Edmund Ingham highlighted that despite a recent $11B M&A spree targeting oncology and immunology, GILD faces skepticism due to a poor track record and a lack of near-term revenue contributions from new acquisitions. “I expect Q1 earnings to be somewhat underwhelming, with sluggish growth and minor IPR&D charges, but GILD trades at a below-average forward P/E of ~16x versus peers,” Ingham noted. He added that I continued to hold GILD for its robust HIV franchise and a dividend yield of over 2%, while awaiting evidence that management can successfully execute on oncology ambitions. The stock rose 8.6% last year, compared to a 4.3% gain in the broader S&P 500 Index.
