According to statements from US officials, it was an Israeli strike made possible through US and Israeli reconnaissance and communication intercepts. Iran says it will halt strikes on neighbouring nations Iran says it will halt strikes on neighbouring nations The New York Times reported that the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) gave the Israelis details on Khamenei’s location at dawn on the day of the strike.

The UK is preparing an aircraft carrier ahead of a possible deployment to the Middle East, the Ministry of Defence has said. Royal Navy workers in Portsmouth are readying HMS Prince of Wales, the navy’s flagship, meaning it could be deployed more quickly if a decision is made to mobilise it to the region. No decisions have been taken to deploy the aircraft carrier, the Guardian has been told. An MoD spokesperson said HMS Prince of Wales could also undertake other planned missions. Crews have been alerted of a potential deployment to the Middle East, according to Sky News, who also reported that the vessel’s notice to move has been shortened from 10 days to five. The warship would need to be escorted by other vessels and a submarine. If deployed, the aircraft carrier would join HMS Dragon, which is also being sent to the region. Conflict has broken out in the region after US-Israeli airstrikes, which killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with other senior leaders. The MoD said RAF Typhoon and F35 jets have continued to fly air operations over Jordan, Qatar and Cyprus to “defend British interests”. The US has also started using British bases for “specific defensive operations”, with a B-1 Lancer arriving at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Friday evening. Three more followed on Saturday morning. An MoD spokesperson said: “We have been bolstering our UK military presence in the Middle East since January, and we have already deployed capabilities to protect British people and our allies in the region, including Typhoons, F-35 jets, air defence systems and an extra 400 personnel into Cyprus. “Since the strikes began, we’ve had British jets in the sky shooting down drones and have sent additional assets to the region to further reinforce our air defences, including more Typhoons and Wildcat helicopters with drone busting missiles. “HMS Prince of Wales has always been on very high readiness and we are increasing the preparedness of the carrier, redu...

16m ago 15.40 GMT Preamble Daniel Gallan From October 1991 until kick-off this afternoon, matches between England and Italy have been a forgone conclusion. The two nations have met 32 times and England have triumphed on every occasion. The average score is around 40 points to 13. There have been drubbings of 67-7 in 1999, 80-23 in 2001 and 57-14 in 2019. Things have been tighter recently, and the last match in Rome ended with a three point margin, but the story has followed a predictable plot for 35 years. That could change today. England are on the ropes after heavy losses to Scotland and Ireland. Steve Borthwick has made sweeping changes to his team, more than any other England coach in Six Nations history. His players have looked disjointed, out of sorts and short of confidence. Italy meanwhile have continued to impress. They fought hard to beat Scotland in a downpour and have been the only side in the first three rounds to provide something resembling a challenge to the French. They have arguably the best centre pair in the game, have astute operators in the halfbacks and now possess a pack that can mix it in heavy traffic. England should still win. I’d be surprised if they don’t. Then again I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they fall to a third loss on the bounce. Not simply because of their own spluttering form but because their hosts have never been in a better position to finally complete the set in the Six Nations. That’s a lot of words to admit I don’t know which way this is going. If you’ve got any clue please drop me an email. I’d love some help untangling this conundrum. Kick-off at 4:40 pm GMT, 5:40 pm in Rome. Teams and other updates to follow.

Ceri Breeze/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Airbus Defence and Space ( EADSF ) is weighing a joint bid for a German military satellite network as part of a group comprising the European defense giant Rheinmetall ( RNMBY ) and satellite manufacturer OHB ( OHBTF ), Bloomberg reported on Saturday. According to people familiar with the matter, Airbus Defence and Space ( EADSY ) informed the German Armed Forces Procurement Office about its plans to bid for the SATCOMBw Stage 4 satellite communication project as a consortium formed with two other German firms. The company or the German defense ministry didn’t respond to Bloomberg’s requests for comments. Rheinmetall ( RNMBF ) and OHB ( OHBTF ) couldn’t be immediately reached for comments. Comparable to Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite network and worth €8B - 108B, SATCOMBw Stage 4 represents the largest space program in the history of the German armed forces. The military constellation comprising at least 100 satellites is expected to be operational by 2029, creating a low-orbit communications network.

asbe/iStock via Getty Images Introduction Last year, I mentioned Paladin Energy ( PALAF ) ( PDN:CA ) appeared to be a good proxy to gain exposure to the uranium sector as the Australian company was restarting the Langer Heinrich uranium mine in Namibia. That was a timely article, as the share price (expressed in USD) is now up by approximately 60% . This is a good time to have another look at this uranium stock. Data by YCharts Selling two million pounds of uranium in a strengthening market As the company’s financial year ends in June, it recently reported on its H1 results. Its flagship Langer Heinrich mine was able to sell 1.96 million pounds of uranium at an average realized price of US$70.5 per pound , for a total revenue of just over $138 million . This resulted in a gross profit of approximately $26 million as the operating expenses remained high during the ramp-up phase of the mine. Also keep in mind Paladin is holding some uranium back in inventory, as the actual production numbers were approximately 17% higher at 2.3 million pounds, as a total of 2.36 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 501 parts per million uranium were processed, with an average recovery rate of 89%. At the end of the first semester of its financial year, Paladin Energy had approximately 1.61 million pounds of uranium in its inventory. This inventory has a current fair value of approximately US$150 million. Looking at the income statement, Paladin Energy established positive earnings in the final quarter of the calendar year. As you can see below, the total revenue in Q4 CY 2025 came in at US$102.4 million , resulting in a gross profit of just over $18 million. This ultimately resulted in a net profit attributable to the shareholders of Paladin Energy of $6.3 million. Paladin Investor Relations While the quarterly EPS of US$0.014 isn’t really anything to get excited about yet, keep in mind the mine still has to reach its cruising speed. Mining activities are still ramping up, and...

Owning blue chip stocks is a far superior method of generating durable wealth. 10 stocks we like better than Nvidia › Have you ever forgotten to buy something while you were out at the store? In today's world, that's not such a big deal -- after all, Amazon can have that item on your doorstep the next day. Or what about not wanting to cook once you get home because that "quick meeting" extended your time at the office? No worries, DoorDash can deliver a meal straight to your home. People are becoming increasingly reliant on instant gratification. This concept is swiftly extending beyond consumer goods thanks to a company called Polymarket. This allows users to bet on just about anything -- from sports games to elections and even company product launches. As someone who has dabbled with Polymarket, I'll be the first to admit that the dopamine from winning a bet is awesome. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Let's dig into the key differences between steering your capital into a binary outcome platform such as Polymarket versus investing in a stock such as artificial intelligence (AI) chipmaker Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA). Save the allure of binary betting for speculators Polymarket has captured the attention of numerous demographics due to its focus on gamifying any topic. What most people don't think about before placing a bet, however, is that the outcome is always binary: You're either right or wrong. No partial credit. While betting markets can serve as a way to gauge sentiment, gambling is a zero-sum game. This means that if yo...

In the spirit of the sport, we are going to talk about a couple of "rebound" picks. With investing, as with all aspects of life, not everything goes perfectly. The best-laid plans rarely survive contact with reality. Whether you are trying to shoot a 3-pointer or you thought you had an easy layup, sometimes things are a little off. Yet when things go wrong, that doesn't mean that it is over. You grab the ball on the rebound and find a way to score. Today, we're going to look at two companies that both ran into tough times, but they grabbed the ball and are looking to generate strong returns for shareholders in 2026. Pick #1: ACRE – Yield 11.5% Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation ( ACRE ) had a rough 2025; at one point, it was down 40% for the year before starting to recover. While the tough year was shared among peers, ACRE saw the biggest sell-off. Coming into 2026, to our members, we wrote this : "ARI is currently ahead of the others in this process, with BRSP close behind. ACRE seems to be a few quarters behind, which is likely why it has underperformed the most. In terms of dividends, we are confident that ARI and BRSP will comfortably cover their dividends. ACRE has a path to cover its dividend, but it is less certain. We could see dividend raises from ARI or BRSP in mid-to-late 2026. We believe ACRE will regain coverage but will keep its dividend flat for 2026." We didn't have to wait long. ACRE announced earnings, and we are pleased to report that they have regained dividend coverage for Q1 with $0.15 in distributable earnings. However, there is a caveat as they realized a $2 million gain on the sale of a property they previously foreclosed on. The most important thing to keep an eye on is the size of the portfolio. ACRE's earnings declined from 2023 to 2025 because its leverage declined. A larg...

Things are going from bad to worse for Novo Nordisk (NVO 1.27%). The Denmark-based drugmaker had already seen its blockbuster weight loss medicine, Wegovy, lose ground to Eli Lilly's (LLY +0.70%) Zepbound in this fast-growing market. But Novo Nordisk just released data from a clinical trial for its newer obesity drug, CagriSema, in which it was pitted against Zepbound. The result: Zepbound came out on top, suggesting that even Novo Nordisk's next launch in this niche won't allow it to keep pace with its rival. Is there any hope left for the pharmaceutical leader? Novo Nordisk quietly announced results from a phase 2 study of another candidate that investors should consider. Impressive mid-stage data Last year, Novo Nordisk acquired the rights to commercialize UBT251, an investigational weight loss medicine, in most countries from a China-based drugmaker. There's one notable thing about this therapy: It mimics the action of three different gut hormones: GLP-1, glucagon, and GIP, which play various roles in the body, including blood sugar and insulin regulation, and satiety control. Targeting three different pathways to induce weight loss could improve efficacy. On Feb. 24, Novo Nordisk announced that, in a study conducted in China, UBT251 led to a mean weight loss of up to 19.7% in just 24 weeks. Comparing results across studies is always tricky, but it's worth noting that in Novo Nordisk's recent phase 3 study pitting CagriSema against Zepbound, the former led to an average weight loss of 23% compared to the latter's 25.5% -- but that was over 84 weeks. In fact, in a 72-week study, Zepbound's 20.2% mean weight loss was only slightly better than UBT251's 24-week performance. UBT251's phase 2 results suggest it could outperform Zepbound and CagriSema (and Wegovy) in a study of equal length. British Lawmaker's Husband Arrested On Suspicion Of Spying For China Weeks after China's mega-embassy opened in London (the one that's right next to all of their tappable communications cables), the husband of Labour Party whip Joani Reid was arrested over Chinese espionage concerns , prompting the lawmaker to step aside amid ongoing probes. A member of the Metropolitan Police patrols the Oxford Street retail district in London on Oct. 2, 2025. Leon Neal/Getty Images Reid's membership in the party is now under suspension while she remains an elected lawmaker, as her husband, 39-year-old David Taylor, was one of three men arrested on Wednesday under the National Security Act. The men allegedly assisted a Chinese intelligence agency. In addition to Taylor, former Labour Party press officer Matthew Aplin and former Welsh government special advisor Steve Jones were identified as the other two who were arrested. As the Epoch Times notes further, Reid stressed that she’s not under investigation and that neither she nor her children are involved in her husband’s business activities. “I have done nothing wrong. I love my country,” she said in a statement, noting she has not seen anything to make her suspect her husband has “broken any law.” She described the suspension as voluntary. “ This week has been the worst of my life, ” she said. Chinese espionage concerns have grown in the country recently, with domestic intelligence agency MI5 warning the country’s politicians that they are targets of Chinese agents. On the same day of the trio’s arrests, two other men—a Hong Kong police superintendent and a UK border official—went on trial on charges of spying on the Hong Kong diaspora in the country. There was no shortage of setbacks for stocks last week. Surprising economic data, another batch of earnings, and an intensifying conflict in the Middle East all combined to move the market, mostly downward. The S & P 500 closed out Friday with a weekly loss of 2% as the broad-market index flipped between the positive and negative sessions over the past five trading days. The Nasdaq fell 1.2% over the same period, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 3%. It was the second consecutive week of losses for all three major averages. The S & P 500 has had only one winning week in the past five as concerns about AI disruption continue to weigh on the market. The tech-heavy Nasdaq has notched only one positive week out of the past eight. We'll see whether the market can break its losing streak on Monday. Until then, here are three forces that drove Wall Street and the Club's portfolio over the past five sessions. An escalating war in the Middle East This was the first week of trading since the U.S. and Israel first started bombing Iran last Saturday, which immediately put pressure on stocks around the globe. The conflict spread across the Middle East, with no clear end to the fighting in sight. President Donald Trump on Friday shared that there wouldn't be an end without an "unconditional surrender" from Iran. Qatar's energy minister, Saad al-Kaabi, also said that the Gulf energy producers may need to shut down production in the coming days due to the situation in the Middle East, which could "bring down the economies of the world," he told The Financial Times in an interview published early Friday. "If this war continues for a few weeks, GDP growth around the world will be impacted," the energy minister said. In response, oil prices spiked amid worries about disruptions to global fuel supplies. West Texas Intermediate crude oil topped $90 per barrel Friday and closed the week out with a 35% advance. That's its biggest gain since oil futures trading began back in 1...
