Stock investors are discounting the types of events that usually rattle Wall Street as fear of missing out on future gains grips the market on the eve of SpaceX’s trading debut, Evercore ISI’s Julian Emanuel said. Traders were buying the dip Thursday even after a second day of fresh strikes in the Iran war and President Donald Trump’s threat of further escalation . The bounce followed a run of equity weakness that kicked off last Friday, when an unexpectedly strong jobs report added to fears of higher interest rates. The rebound also came amid a frenzy of orders for Space Exploration Technologies Corp. ’s record initial public offering, with demand for shares more than four times the available supply, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The massive deal has Wall Street trying to gauge how the IPOs of OpenAI and Anthropic PBC will unfold. “I would say that the true FOMO — the wild-eyed, buy at any cost, whatever it is I’ll take it — is still potentially ahead of us,” Emanuel said Thursday on Bloomberg Television’s Surveillance . “Think about the headlines that we’re dealing with this morning,” he said, pointing to events that could normally undermine sentiment, including the latest Middle East attacks. Despite the negative news, “the stock market is incredibly resilient in front of really a landmark moment,” said Emanuel, who is Evercore’s chief equity and quantitative strategist. SpaceX is looking to raise about $75 billion from the share sale, valuing the Elon Musk-led rocket, satellite and AI company at about $1.8 trillion. Along with artificial intelligence developers OpenAI and Anthropic, there is an IPO pipeline with the potential to eventually bring $3.6 trillion in capitalization onto public markets. “It also speaks to the incredible liquidity conditions that we’re seeing,” Emanuel said. Even with the geopolitical upheaval of the last several months, “the economy came into this incredibly resilient. “And what did we find out ...

Elen11/iStock via Getty Images Since June 2nd, the Nasdaq ( QQQ ) is down by about 7%, and the technology sector ( XLK ) is down by about 11%. Data by YCharts This sharp pullback in such a short period of time has officially put the tech sector in correction territory and has erased trillions of dollars from some of the world's leading companies in a matter of about a week. This begs the question: Is this simply a healthy correction after a blistering bullish run higher in the preceding months, or is the AI bubble finally starting to crack? In this article, I will take a deeper look at answering this question and share where I am allocating capital right now. A Blowout Jobs Report Rattles High-Flying AI Valuations One of the biggest catalysts for the pullback was a very strong jobs report last week that showed 172,000 non-farm payrolls added, which was more than twice the 80,000 Dow Jones estimate. This caused traders to begin to question whether the sky-high valuations on AI-related stocks were justified in a world where interest rates may remain higher for longer. Additionally, the very strong jobs report and elevated inflation numbers are signaling that the Fed is actually more likely to raise interest rates than cut by the end of the year, as the CME Fed Watch tool currently demonstrates is being priced in by the market. CME FedWatch Precious Metals: No Safe Harbor in the Selloff Meanwhile, precious metals have not been exempted from this massive pullback either. Over the past four weeks, gold ( GLD ) has been down by about 13%. Gold miners ( GDX ) are down by over 23%, and silver ( SLV ) is down over 27%. Once again, this is part of a continued healthy correction from this extremely strong bull run in precious metals in recent years, but it is also driven by the market shifting towards a more hawkish outlook, where traders are pricing in a much higher probability of a rate hike than a rate cut. Rate hikes are negative for precious metals because they make cash ...

SlavkoSereda/iStock via Getty Images Crude oil prices turned higher Thursday after President Trump threatened to strike Iran "VERY HARD" and take "total control" of the country's oil and gas markets, including a U.S. takeover of Iran’s Kharg Island oil export hub. "At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela," Trump posted. Kharg Island is Iran's most important export terminal, handling ~90% of the country’s outgoing oil shipments, and a U.S. takeover likely would require ground troops. Front-month Nymex crude ( CL1:COM ) for July delivery up 0.8% to $90.73/bbl, and front-month Brent crude ( CO1:COM ) for August delivery up 0.5% to $93.58/bbl. Oil prices had slipped lower after initially rising following fresh U.S. military strikes on multiple targets in Iran near the Strait of Hormuz after Trump said earlier in the day that Iran had taken too long to negotiate a deal and would "have to pay the price." Iran then claimed to have closed the strait with immediate effect. Stock index futures were higher before the bell as Washington said it has "completed" strikes against Iran. Here are the four stocks to watch on the day: Alibaba ( BABA ) fell 3.7% in premarket trading as regulatory pressure weighed on Chinese e-commerce giants. Beijing's market watchdog called out top players for deceptive marketing practices, sending Alibaba shares down as much as 5.9% in Hong Kong trading Thursday morning—the biggest intraday decline in nearly three months. JD.com also dropped sharply, recording its steepest fall since November. Intel ( INTC ) surged about 6% in premarket trading after Bank of America double upgraded the chipmaker to Buy from Underperform. The firm also raised its price target to $135 from $96. Analysts led by Vivek Arya cited higher confidence in Intel's opportunity to address industry constraints in leading-edge wafers and packaging, as well as supply into a larger agentic CPU total addressable market. ASML ( ASML ) rose more than 3% in premarket trading ahead of the company's internal technology conference. The annual event is drawing increased attention this year, as Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is set to speak to employees via video link. The invitation was extended in relation to the ongoing Terafab project, which will see Tesla and SpaceX collaborate on building a semiconductor plant in Texas. Super Micro ( SMCI ) edged up 0.14% in premarket trading after pricing offerings of common stock and depositary shares to raise about $4.9 billion. The AI infrastructure solutions provider is offering approximately 45.45 million common shares at $27.50 each, with underwriters holding an option to purchase up to an additional 6.82 million shares. The company is also offering 75 million depositary shares representing interests in a new 7.0% series A mandatory convertible preferred stock at $50 per depositary share. PM Images/DigitalVision via Getty Images Clearly, my bullish thesis on Figure Technology Solutions, Inc. ( FIGR ) hasn't played out as I expected so far. But I am not throwing in the towel just yet. The stock had a massive rally in January, reaching a $78 price tag . But it couldn't maintain its bullish momentum and declined since then. It's now down 30% since my previous coverage . And while I am not happy with the results, I don't think this was FIGR's problem. If anything, I don't see significant structural problems with FIGR. But it's more that the whole fintech industry remains clouded due to macro concerns and AI-related threats. Quite frankly, I also find that risk overblown here. FIGR: Stock Declined 30% Since My Last Article (Seeking Alpha) Now, while anything can happen and the stock could decline further, I am in the camp it could be bottoming here. Yesterday FIGR announced it was acquiring a real estate lending platform called Kiavi. So, could this be a good time for the stock to turn around? While it's of course not guaranteed, it's possible. So, I maintained my rating here as a Buy. Solid Performance with Improving Fundamentals That's right. While it hasn't been listed for a long time, it's been a solid performer so far. FIGR: Earnings History (Seeking Alpha) Now, roughly a month ago Figure delivered its earnings report . And I'd love to have a deeper look here. Now, for those who may not be that familiar with this fintech disruptor. I'd love you to kindly look at my previous coverage . Quite frankly, I think it's a good way to familiarize yourself with its business. To be fair, I will say right away that I liked this quarterly report a lot. But based on the recent stock's price action it makes me think that Wall Street partially doesn't get the stock. Now, why? Well, the company announced report mid-May. But the stock is down 24% over the past month. Of course, there were other factors too such as uncertainty tied to oil markets and the Middle East co...
