VTT Studio/iStock via Getty Images JPMorgan believes the K-shaped economy remains firmly in place, especially in the restaurant sector. Analyst John Ivankoe noted that the top 40% of consumers, who generate approximately 65% of all restaurant sales, are seeing increased spending power, supported by rising home values, robust stock market participation, and outsized benefits from recent tax policy changes and refunds. Meanwhile, Ivankoe highlighted that the bottom 60% of consumers are experiencing stagnant wage growth, with many unable to participate in recent wealth creation. "About 35% of households have not benefited from asset price appreciation. Legislative changes — including the expiration of ACA tax credits and expanded SNAP work requirements — are expected to further pressure this cohort," he warned. Adding it all up, Ivankoe and his team said the combined effect of the policies is net negative for the bottom 70% of income earners, while only the top 30% can offset headwinds through tax cuts and market asset gains. The recommendation to investors is to add to positions in its favorite names, such as Domino's Pizza ( DPZ ), Dutch Bros ( BROS ), and Brinker International ( EAT ). While the level of Treasury yields impacts restaurant sector valuations, the firm still sees value in shares of Darden Restaurants ( DRI ), McDonald's ( MCD ), Restaurant Brands International ( QSR ), and Yum! Brands ( YUM ). While noting valuation is stretched, JPMorgan is sticking with bullish views on CAVA Group ( CAVA ) and Starbucks ( SBUX ). The firm is less positive on Bloomin' Brands ( BLMN ), Cheesecake Factory ( CAKE ), Krispy Kreme ( DNUT ), and Wendy's ( WEN ). More on the restaurant sector P.F. Colombia is buying back $4.4 billion in outstanding bonds, closing out its third such transaction in the last year as it looks to lower borrowing costs weeks before a pivotal presidential election. The South American nation agreed to purchase the entire amount investors tendered last week, according to a Monday press release . The offer included nine series of notes due between 2035 and 2061. Citigroup managed the deal, with the settlement scheduled for Tuesday. Public credit director Javier Cuellar “delivered on his word once again: he announced a $4 billion deal and executed it,” said William Snead , a strategist at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria in New York. “After the bond tender, the main driver of performance will be the presidential elections.” Read More: Colombia Credit Chief Eyes $4 Billion Buyback of External Bonds Colombian dollar bonds were the biggest gainers across emerging markets on Monday, with notes due in 2053 advancing 1.4 cent to 115.6 cents on the dollar, according to indicative pricing data collected by Bloomberg. The debt have handed investors a 4% return this year, one of the best performances in emerging markets, according to data compiled on a Bloomberg index. The advance comes even as the latest polls for the June election show leftist Senator Ivan Cepeda beating conservative candidates in a second-round runoff for the presidency. The country is looking to appease markets amid growing concerns over a budget deficit, which is forecast to reach 6.7% of gross domestic product this year. S&P Ratings recently cut the nation’s credit score further into junk, citing a persistently large fiscal gap and a high debt burden. Worries around the country’s accounts have intensified since last year, when the government decided to suspend a legal cap on fiscal spending.

Nes | E+ | Getty Images If you receive Social Security retirement benefits and are still working, you may see your monthly payments reduced, depending on your circumstances. But that all could change if one proposal — the Senior Citizens' Freedom to Work Act — becomes law . The bicameral bill , recently proposed by Sen. Rick Scott, R-Florida, and Rep. Greg Murphy, R-North Carolina, would repeal a provision known as the retirement earnings test. It reduces Social Security benefits for individuals who start retirement benefits early and continue to work. The retirement earnings test affects those who claim Social Security before full retirement age , when beneficiaries are eligible for 100% of the retirement benefits they've earned. That typically is age 66 to 67, depending on year of birth. Read more CNBC personal finance coverage Social Security benefits can be reduced for retirees who work. Trigrey/iStock via Getty Images Western Digital ( WDC ) and Seagate Technology ( STX ) both maintain clear trajectories to higher earnings, prompting Bank of America to increase its price objectives on both stocks. "Hard disk drive supply remains tight as manufacturers are not adding unit capacity, and we see this as a structural change," said BofA analysts, led by Wamsi Mohan, in a Monday investor note. "As such, we continue to see demand exceeding supply and see continued scope for OEMs to raise prices." BofA increased its price objective on Seagate to $700 from $605 and Western Digital to $495 from $415. In a bull case scenario, BofA finds that both companies could see significantly higher earnings per share totals by 2028. "We estimate that the current stock price of around $587 factors in a C28 EPS of $29 (derived using nearline $/TB CAGR of 4% and C28 OM of 47%) and assuming a 20x multiple (which we see as appropriate for the growth and margin profile of STX)," the analysts said of Seagate. "But, in a bull case, we see the potential for EPS of $45 ($/TB reaching $20 in C28 with a 3-year $/TB CAGR of 16% and OM of 55%)." For Western Digital, BofA said, "We estimate that the current stock price of around $400 factors in a C28 EPS of about $20 (derived using nearline $/TB CAGR of 0% (no growth) and C28 OM of 45%) and assuming a 20x multiple (which we see as appropriate for the growth and margin profile of WDC). But, in a bull case, we see the potential for EPS of $33 ($/TB reaching $20 in C28 with a 3-year CAGR of 12% and OM of 55%)." Visibility is also improving for both companies as they lock in long-term contracts with customers. "The market remains an oligopoly (with three OEMs providing hard disk drives), and we see a low threat of new entrants coming into the market," Wamsi added. The share prices of Seagate and Western Digital have both more than doubled year-to-date. More on Western Digital and Seagate There's A Storage Problem With AI Inference - And Wes...
