JHVEPhoto The conflict in the Middle East and its impact on the travel industry are weighing on shares of Booking Holdings ( BKNG ) as the company lowered its full-year outlook to reflect the expectations for disruptions to major transit corridors. “We are assuming the direct and indirect impact from the conflict in the Middle East continues through the end of June,” the company said, adding that broader inflationary pressures, including fluctuations in jet fuel prices and airline capacity reductions, will also weigh on traveler sentiment “more broadly.” “These dynamics can create headwinds across the travel value chain, and we are monitoring them closely. Our second quarter and full-year guidance are based on estimates and the information available to us at this time, in an unusually unpredictable environment.” For the current quarter, Booking Holdings ( BKNG ) expects 2% to 4% room nights growth and gross bookings growth of 4% to 6%. Revenue and adjusted EBITDA are also expected to increase by 4% to 6%, translating into a range of $7.07B and $7.21B in revenue versus $7.53B estimates. For FY26, gross bookings are expected to increase by high single digits to low single digits versus prior guidance for an increase of low double digits. Adjusted EPS is expected to increase by low to mid-teens versus a prior outlook of mid-teens, while revenue is expected to increase by high single digits compared to earlier guidance of low double digits. For Q1, Booking Holdings ( BKNG ) earned a profit of $1.14 per share, beating expectations by $0.12, while revenue increased more than 16% to $5.53B, $10M better than anticipated. These results reflect a 6% increase in room nights booked and a 15% gain in gross bookings, both of which were negatively impacted by approximately 2 percentage points by the conflict in the Middle East. The company also announced a quarterly dividend of $0.42 per share, payable on June 30 to shareholders of record as of June 5. Bookings ( BKNG ) results ar...

Chip designers like Nvidia and Broadcom get a lot of the headlines regarding their huge artificial intelligence (AI) business, but Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) is also a great pick in this industry. Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC for short) is the primary logic chip fabricator, and the majority of tech devices use its products. There aren't many stocks that are better picks than TSMC, and because it's staying neutral in the AI race, you don't have to worry about picking a winner -- it's a near-guarantee to be successful. I think this makes it a top buy in the market, and it just proved again why it's one of the best. Image source: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Continue reading

SweetBunFactory/iStock via Getty Images The semiconductor sector’s ( SMH ) historic rally has triggered warning signals that investors should consider shifting from buying to selling, Jeff deGraaf, chairman and head of technical research at Renaissance Macro, warned Tuesday. DeGraaf pointed to the PHLX Semiconductor Index’s ( SOX ) recent 18-day winning streak and what he called his “bubble indicator” as causes for concern. “The month was the second-best month ever, next to just 2000,” deGraaf said in a CNBC interview. “When it doubles within a two-year period of time, that usually is a sign that you wanna start dollar cost selling or start thinking about what can go wrong, not what can go right.” While deGraaf acknowledged the signals don’t necessarily predict trouble in the next one to three months, he cautioned that returns typically decline over six to 12 months when these conditions appear. Regarding the broader market’s ( SPY ) rally to new highs, deGraaf said momentum indicators put “the burden of proof on the bears, not on the bulls.” However, he characterized the current environment as “the latter third of the bull run” and more speculative in nature. “Keep your wits about you. It’s good. It’s going. The momentum is there, but there are a few deficiencies to this one,” he said. Mexico leaned on US intelligence to arrest an alleged cartel boss with a $5 million bounty on his head, although officials stressed that no foreign agents were on the ground for the operation. Authorities on Tuesday drew a distinction between the arrest of Audias Flores Silva, a member of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion cartel, and a previous drug bust in the state of Chihuahua, after which two CIA agents died in a car crash. “Rather than US involvement, it was an exchange of information,” Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla Trejo said during a news conference, where officials detailed the Monday arrest of Flores Silva. “It is very different to have an exchange of information, as permitted by law, than to have agents on the ground.” The deaths of the US officials following the Chihuahua operation sparked renewed security-related tensions between the Trump administration and the Mexican government. President Claudia Sheinbaum said afterward that Mexican security officials weren’t told about the presence of foreign agents, which she described as a clear breach of protocol. Still, the use of US intelligence highlights continued efforts to cooperate on security matters as President Donald Trump pressures Mexico to intensify its targeting of the drug trade. Flores Silva, known as “the Gardener,” had been sought for crimes including drug trafficking. The US had also accused him of leading a fraud scheme that scammed older US citizens out of their savings . Read More: Mexico Arrests Cartel Boss With $5 Million US Bounty on Head Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch said Flores Silva oversaw operations along the Pacific Coast and had served as security chief and top ally to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the cartel leader known as “El Mencho” killed in a Mexican operation in February. Authorities also captured Flores Silva’s right-hand man during the operation, a development Garcia Harfuch characterized as a severe blow to the cartel’s operations. Earnings Call Insights: Sportradar (SRAD) Q1 2026 Management View “The appointment of Sameer Deen as COO, the enhanced open market repurchase program and reaffirming of our '26 full year financial outlook. This reflects the great confidence we have in our business model,” said CEO Carsten Koerl (Founder, CEO & Director), while directly addressing “reports published by known short sellers” and adding, “To be clear, Sportradar and I reject the unfounded and misinformed allegations contained in the reports.” Koerl highlighted capital return actions and insider buying plans: “during quarter 1, we repurchased approximately $90 million worth of shares… to approximately $228 million,” and “we have entered into a $250 million enhanced open market repurchase program” under the $1 billion authorization. He added, “I intend to personally purchase $10 million worth of shares in Sportradar when our trading window opens.” Koerl emphasized IMG ARENA integration and cross-sell metrics: “more than 75% of our core betting clients now consuming IMG content, including all Tier 1 operators,” and “nearly 60% are now purchasing IMG content from us,” citing “Our partnership expansion with Hard Rock Bet to include official content from the PGA TOUR and UFC.” CFO Craig Felenstein (Chief Financial Officer) described the company’s priority around buybacks and free cash flow: “we wanted to discuss our financial and operating results as soon as possible so we can better capitalize on the opportunity provided by the company's current share price,” and “what ultimately matters most, free cash flow generation.” Outlook “We are reaffirming our full year 2026 outlook,” Felenstein said, while noting “some short-term headwinds” and listing opportunities including “further IMG synergies, the prediction market ecosystem and global customer renewals.” Felenstein guided to constant-currency revenue growth of “23% to 25%,” and said “at current FX rates is expected to be between $1.56 billion and $1.58 billi...

Earnings Call Insights: NOV Inc. (NOV) Q1 2026 Management view "NOV generated revenue of $2.05 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $177 million during the first quarter of 2026," said President, CEO & Chairman Jose Bayardo, adding, "we estimate that the conflict in the Middle East negatively impacted revenue by approximately $54 million and EBITDA by $32 million." "Bookings in our Energy Equipment segment for the quarter totaled $520 million" and "represented our strongest first quarter order intake since 2019," Bayardo said, while also noting operational disruption: "Freight costs increased significantly during the quarter, at times by as much as 3 to 4x normal levels." "We recently approved a $200 million expansion of our subsea flexible pipe manufacturing facility in Brazil," Bayardo said, and described the order backdrop: "Bookings for our offshore production-related equipment remained healthy in the first quarter, supported by a large subsea flexible pipe order for Brazil and a large FEED study." "Operating profit was $47 million, which included $37 million in other items, primarily related to a noncash stock compensation charge, severance and facility closures," said Senior VP & CFO Rodney Reed. "Since the first quarter of 2025, we've reduced global headcount by 8%, exited over 40 facilities, established a global service center in Kochi, India" and "repurchased 3.5 million shares for $67 million and paid dividends of $33 million," Reed said. Outlook "Second quarter guidance... assumes conditions in the Middle East remain consistent with where they are today, meaning the ceasefire holds, but the Strait remains closed," Bayardo said, adding, "we cannot reliably forecast the second half of the year." "If the conflict ended and the Strait reopened in the near term, we could still conceivably achieve our prior expectation of full year 2026 results that are broadly in line with 2025," Bayardo said. "For the second quarter, we expect Energy Equipment segment revenue to be...
