A fully-laden Japan-linked oil tanker completed a rare transit of the Strait of Hormuz, as the effective closure of the waterway to most international traffic enters its third month. The supertanker Idemitsu Maru , loaded with about 2 million barrels of Saudi crude and headed for Japan, exited the Persian Gulf on Tuesday following the Tehran-approved route that runs close to Iran’s Qeshm and Larak Islands. It was the only non-Iranian very large crude carrier to leave the region in 10 days and the first tanker linked to Japan to cross since the strait effectively closed in late-February. Tehran’s blocking of the waterway that previously carried about one-fifth of the world’s oil and important quantities of liquefied natural gas and other commodities is heading into its third month with no sign of easing. A retaliatory blockade of Iranian shipping by the US Navy has brought traffic into and out of the Persian Gulf to an almost complete halt. The ban on Iranian shipping, now effectively confined to the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman by US frigates, has left Tehran relying on a fleet of aging tankers to store the crude that it can’t export. Attention remains focused on diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, even as US President Donald Trump told aides to prepare for an extended blockade , while Tehran insists it won’t resume negotiations or reopen the strait as long as the US naval restrictions stay in place. Ship Movements In addition to the one VLCC, the only other ships to leave the Gulf since Tuesday morning were three bulk carriers, a chemical carrier, and LPG tanker and one container ship, according to vessel-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. Two bulk carriers also entered the Gulf carrying food supplies to Iran. The few Iran-linked ships that exited the strait in recent days didn’t get beyond the eastern end of the Gulf of Oman. It isn’t yet clear whether those vessels were scheduled for regional stops or have been forced to wait out the blockade . Vessels tr...

Vladislav Stepanov/iStock via Getty Images Introduction Celcuity’s ( CELC ) Gedatolisib has shown outstanding data in a phase 3 trial called VIKTORIA-1 in HR-positive HER2 negative advanced breast cancer patients. The market is large and there’s a key unmet need. However, at its current market cap of ~$6B, Celcuity is already being priced to achieve a good portion of this opportunity. As will be shown below, the market is already assuming ~$1–1.5B in peak sales, corresponding to a moderate penetration. Management, on the other hand, has guided to a ~$2.5B peak revenue figure, which implies closer to a ~20% share of the market. As I will show, this figure represents my own bull case scenario. This gap is the entire investment case. The current data in wild type patients supports a potentially best-in-class profile, particularly given the safety profile compared to PI3K-alpha inhibitors. The remaining question is whether this extends to the PIK3CA-mutant population, with data from the cohort planned for release in Q2 2026. This is a major catalyst for CELC stock. Business Overview Celcuity has a single key oncology asset, gedatolisib, a pan-PI3K/mTOR inhibitor targeting the PI3K/AKT pathway. Some of its peers, like alpelisib or inavolisib, target selective isoforms. Gedatolisib is able to inhibit multiple nodes, which may explain its effectiveness in both PIK3CA-mutant and wild-type disease. The company right now has an ongoing phase 3 trial called VIKTORIA-1. This will provide support for the NDA. This is the near term value driver, and I would expect approval in 2027 once they get the mutant cohort data in Q2, hopefully submit an NDA by end-2026. They have another trial called VIKTORIA-2 in 1L setting, and early stage work in prostate cancer. Those are optional, but currently, the entire company is tied to VIKTORIA-1 data. Cash Runway Celcuity is pre-commercial so it doesn’t have revenue. It is burning ~$170–180M annually at the current run rate. The company reporte...

Patrick T. Fallon | Afp | Getty Images Bill Ackman's long-awaited push into public markets is set to debut Wednesday, marking a scaled-back but still ambitious step toward building a Berkshire Hathaway-like investment platform. The Pershing Square Capital Management founder's combined initial public offering raised $5 billion, pricing at the low end of expectations after marketing a deal that initially targeted between $5 billion and $10 billion. The haul is a far cry from earlier ambitions floated two years ago to raise as much as $25 billion. The transaction creates two separately traded entities on the New York Stock Exchange: closed-end fund Pershing Square USA Ltd., which will trade under the ticker PSUS, and asset manager Pershing Square Inc., listed as PS. The dual structure allows investors to gain exposure either to the underlying portfolio or to the management business itself. Zoom In Icon Arrows pointing outwards "Hedge funds are sort of known for managing money for rich people. And now we have the opportunity for someone with $50, could be a long term shareholder," Ackman said on CNBC's " Squawk on the Street " Wednesday. "Usually, the retail gets cut massively back, the institutions are favored. We did the opposite." Shares of the closed-end fund were priced at $50 apiece, with the offering structured to appeal to both institutional and retail investors and notably omitting performance fees. Investors in PSUS will also receive bonus shares in Pershing Square Inc., tying the two vehicles together while maintaining separate trading. The listing gives public investors their first direct stake in Ackman's investment platform, which runs a concentr...

Lawmakers are grilling Hegseth and Caine about the Pentagon budget, but the war with Iran is expected to loom large over the panel. The war has now dragged into its second month and has caused global economic turmoil as Iran has choked vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of the conflict. Kevin Warsh, U.S. President Donald Trump's nominee for Chair of the Federal Reserve, arrives for his Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs confirmation hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on April 21, 2026 in Washington, DC. Andrew Harnik | Getty Images The Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday voted to advance Kevin Warsh 's nomination to lead the Federal Reserve , teeing up President Donald Trump 's pick for a final confirmation vote in the Republican-controlled Senate. The vote fell along party lines, with all 13 Republican members voting in favor of the nominee and all 11 Democrats voting against him. Warsh cleared the hurdle, as expected, hours before the Fed was set to deliver its latest decision on interest rates – possibly for the last time under the current chair, Jerome Powell . The central bank is likely to maintain its wait-and-see strategy, as sticky inflation, a seemingly stable labor market and Iran-war-related price shocks keep the prospect of further rate cuts at arm's length. The Fed's cautious approach has been a main source of friction between Trump and Powell, who has faced a near-constant barrage of criticism over his refusal to slash rates as much or as quickly as the president wants. Critics, and Powell himself, say the pressure campaign went beyond rhetoric. The Department of Justice launched a criminal investigation into Powell and the Fed, purportedly focused on cost overruns associated with a multibillion-dollar renovation of the central bank's Washington headquarters. Powell, in a statement revealing the investigation in January, accused the administration of targeting him because of the Fed's decisions on interest rates. The probe threatened Warsh's chances: Banking Committee member Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., vowed to block Trump's nominee unless the DOJ abandoned its efforts. Trump had openly supported the investigation being led by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, even after a federal judge tripped up her effort...

Andrew Harnik/Getty Images News The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs moved the nomination of Kevin Warsh for the role of Federal Reserve chair forward to the full Senate for a vote, where he is expected to be confirmed Thirteen senators voted in favor of advancing Warsh's nomination, with 11 voting against, following party lines. The committee vote puts Warsh on track to be confirmed before current Jerome Powell's term as Fed chair ends on May 15. That means the Federal Open Market Committee meeting that wraps up on Wednesday is likely the last one that Powell leads. His term as a governor, though, has two more years remaining. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) opposed advancing Warsh's nomination to the Senate, saying that the Trump administration is seeking to take over the Fed. She cited the “bogus” investigation into Powell and President Donald Trump's attempt to fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook. Furthermore, she said Warsh is an “unfit candidate” and had a “catastrophic tenure” as a Fed governor during the 2008 financial crisis. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) countered that everything Warren said was "wrong."
