Similarly, Oakoff Investments has moved Palantir Technologies ( PLTR ) to a Buy rating, pointing to a resilient commercial moat and favorable risk-reward balance ahead of its upcoming earnings report. On the other hand, Seeking Profits has downgraded Mattel ( MAT ) to a Hold due to lackluster execution and persistent margin pressures. Pinterest ( PINS ) has also been downgraded to a Sell by Amrita Roy, who identifies a significant revenue growth slowdown and a lack of clear catalysts for a turnaround in the near term. Upgrades Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ): Upgrade to Buy by Envision Research . The analyst argues that AMD is better positioned than its primary competitors to benefit from structural shifts in AI infrastructure demand, particularly within the realm of agentic AI. “Whether Q1 2026 marks a turning point for INTC or not, the yield from AMD has been much stronger in recent years. As seen, AMD has reported a positive yield every year since 2018. Looking ahead, I expect AMD’s yield to remain superior as its R&D is consolidated around a single and scalable architecture.” Palantir Technologies ( PLTR ): Upgrade Bearish to Buy by Oakoff Investments . The analyst cites Palantir’s unique ontology layer as a critical differentiator that protects its commercial business from competition while maintaining rapid sales cycles. “I believe management will provide several positive commentaries, and PLTR will, once again in its corporate history, report a massive Rule of 40, outshining most other tech firms out there. The risk/reward looks favorable ahead of the earnings print, so I decided to upgrade my rating to "Buy" for the first time since mid-2024.” Downgrades Mattel ( MAT ): Downgrade to Hold by Seeking Profits .

Eli Lilly ( LLY ) and Novo Nordisk ( NVO ), the two pharmas dominating the weight loss drugs market, surged Thursday morning after the US FDA proposed placing a significant restriction on the ability of pharmacies to make compounded versions of GLP-1. The agency is considering the removal of tirzepatide, semaglutide, and liraglutide from the 503B Bulk Drugs Substances List. If a drug is on the list, pharmacies can compound the medications from bulk substances. In addition, in many circumstances, a drug can only be compounded if it is in shortage. The trio referenced in the FDA's news release are not in short supply. Tirzepatide is branded by Lilly as Zepbound and Mounjaro for, respectively, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide is sold by Novo as Wegovy and Ozempic for, respectively, obesity and diabetes. Liraglutide is marketed by Novo as Saxenda and Victoza for, respectively, obesity and diabetes. The agency noted there is no “clinical need” for the three medications to remain on the list. "This action reflects our responsibility to protect patients and preserve the integrity of the drug approval process while continuing to provide a transparent, science-based pathway for public input," FDA Commissioner Marty Makary said in a statement . Getty Images Markets are going through the busiest part of earnings season. In fact, four of the top hyperscalers reported simultaneously after the bell on Wednesday. While the reports appear impressive, for the most part, there are some issues that should be considered now. Also, while the initial reactions to the earnings were mixed, the Nasdaq 100 ( NDX ) futures recovered quickly, and shot up to new ATHs shortly after. Nasdaq 100 Futures NQ (thinkorswim) The Nasdaq 100 futures have surged by over 20% since bottoming roughly one month ago. The trillion-dollar question is what happens here. Does the market continue to rally? Does the tech segment need to consolidate? Could there be a considerable pullback soon? These are pressing questions, and there are various factors that could influence and increase the probability of each of the scenarios. Let's Look at Earnings Microsoft Corporation ( MSFT ) delivered an excellent quarter. GAAP EPS of $4.27 beat the consensus estimate by $0.22. Revenue was also a beat ($82.9B), 18.3% YoY increase. Cloud revenue made up $54.5B of the revenues, increasing by 29% YoY. Azure revenue increased by 40% YoY. The company also guided to solid revenue growth of roughly 14% for the next quarter, and announced full year 2026 will be about $190B. Questions regarding the ROI of the massive investments persisted during the earnings call. While Microsoft's stock initially held up well post earnings, Meta Platforms, Inc. ( META ) stock fell hard. As of early morning Thursday April 30th, Meta was down about $50, or roughly 8%. Also, the headline numbers were quite strong, as the company crushed EPS estimates, delivering GAAP EPS of $10.44, a beat of $3.78 . Sales also beat estimates, coming in at a 33.1% increase over last year's results. However, Meta guided to a muted Q2, growth-wise (roughly $59.5B) 25.2% projected YoY increase, only meeting the consensus estimates. Also, user growth stalled. Additionally, Meta upped its CapEx expectations ...
