Iran's Ghalibaf Tells Iranians 'Unify' As US Blockade Seeks To 'Make Us Collapse From Within' Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who has since the war's start and prior assassinations of top leaders including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei become the most visible figurehead representing the Islamic Republic to the world, has continued trolling the United States even as President Trump is renewing fresh military strikes amid an uneasy extended ceasefire and ongoing US naval blockade of Iranian ports. He stated Wednesday that the United States' naval blockade of the country has a goal to create division and "make us collapse from within." His message was delivered through state TV and he is warning citizens about "maintaining unity" in the face of this unprecedented economic and military pressure. Ghalibaf went on to explain that Trump falsely " divides the country into two groups: hardliners and moderates , and then immediately talks about a naval blockade to force Iran into submission through economic pressure and internal discord," according to more from state media sources. via state media "The enemy has entered a new phase and wants to activate economic pressure and internal division through naval blockade and media hype to weaken or even make us collapse from within," he continued, urging Iranians that the only solution is to keep national unity amid the assault. This hearkens back to Trump having said earlier this month that the Iranian government was "seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so." This was quickly followed by reports that Ghalibaf himself was being sidelined by the IRGC when it comes to the next potential US-Iranian talks. But Tehran quickly rejected reports that the influential parliament speaker had been removed from the negotiating team. As for definitions of 'hardline vs. moderate' - these are somewhat superficial and manufactured by the West (akin to prior Middle East wars and regime change operations, with one recent example being s...
I am upgrading Solid Power ( SLDP ) to a buy rating following substantial progress toward commercialization. I am upgrading Solid Power ( SLDP ) to a buy rating following substantial progress toward commercialization. I think the chance of success (by success I mean a major auto OEM adopting SLDP product in mass production models) has increased from around 20% at the time of my first article to around 80% today. There is still a non-zero probability that it does not succeed, but I have taken a small position and will look to increase it. Solid Power is hoping to disrupt the enormous market of lithium-ion batteries in EVs . The market was around $91 billion in 2024 and is forecast to top $200 billion by 2034. Despite being a small-cap company, the business model, chosen technology, and leadership within that technology have convinced me to invest. Business Model: The Strategic Pivot SLDP has adopted a B2B licensing and supply model. The new model ensures it can partner with incumbent manufacturers, helping them stave off threats from potential replacement technologies. The SLDP electrolyte can be used in existing roll-to-roll manufacturing of battery cells, making the technology highly compatible with existing large-scale manufacturing plants and reducing adoption costs by up to 90% compared to building entirely new production lines. Revenue Streams: Income is now driven by three pillars: Electrolyte Sales: Supplying proprietary sulfide-based powder to partners. Technology Licensing: Allowing OEMs to use SLDP cell designs in their own factories. Joint Development Agreements (JDAs): Collaborative R&D funded by partners like BMW, SK On, and Samsung SDI. The core of SLDP’s technology is its sulfide-based solid electrolyte, which replaces the flammable liquid electrolytes found in traditional Lithium-ion batteries. Key Tech Advantages Safety & Stability: By removing flammable liquids, SLD has improved the safety profile of batteries. Chemistry Agnostic: SLDP technology supports Lithium Metal Anodes and Silicon Anodes, which could increase EV range by up

The US dollar is heading for its worst monthly slump since June as the promise of peace talks to end the Iran war led traders to unravel bets on the haven currency. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index has fallen 1.8% in April, with most of the drop spurred by a US-Iran ceasefire struck earlier in the month. The moves have tempered more recently after a rebound caused by a renewed spike in oil prices and speculation that the Federal Reserve may hike interest rates next year. “Going forward, the dollar is likely to trade lower but remain range-bound, with declines tempered by relative US growth strength and ongoing global uncertainty,” said Nathan Thooft , a senior portfolio manager at Manulife Investment Management. The ceasefire between the US and Iran has largely held up since earlier this month, despite some escalating tensions. President Donald Trump said this week he won’t lift a naval blockade of Iran’s ports until a deal addressing the country’s nuclear program is secured. Axios also reported that Trump will be briefed Thursday on military options in Iran. The greenback fell 0.7% on Thursday while Brent crude slid from a four-year high. April’s losses are a U-turn from the dollar’s record rally in March. As the war upended energy markets, the dollar advanced given its haven status and the US’s position as the world’s top oil producer. Interest-rate dynamics are also at play for the dollar. The US currency rose Wednesday after the Fed, in a split decision, held rates steady and hinted that the uncertain economic impact of the war could keep it from cutting down the road. Traders have added to bets of a rate-hike next year. Other major central banks, meanwhile, have been clearer about their willingness to raise rates sooner to fight inflation, which would boost their local currencies against the dollar. The Australian dollar and Norwegian krone have strengthened against the dollar this month, up 4.1% and 4.3% respectively, as traders price in potential hikes by the ...
