But I have an obvious and important question about Apple's investment case for the future: where is the AI story? At the time I am writing this, Apple’s conference call has not started yet, so I expect more details to come from management, especially on guidance, iPhone 17 demand, Services, margins, China, and hopefully AI. In terms of immediate market response, the stock price declined by approximately 1 percent in after hours trading. This is certainly not a collapse. However, it indicates that investors were not willing to buy the headline fiscal Q2 beat without asking harder questions. Yahoo Frankly, I think this market reaction makes sense. For me, the three reasons this quarter matters are simple: stronger-than-expected iPhone 17 demand, a Services business that is becoming Apple’s real profit engine, and the unresolved AI/Siri question that could define the next re-rating. In many ways today was the quintessential strong fiscal Q2 2026 quarterly report from Apple. Apple beat headline revenue and [EPS] expectations, while iPhone revenue was broadly in line with consensus and still showed very strong year-over-year growth. On paper, today’s results were everything an investor could want out of a quarterly reporting period. However, Apple will never be evaluated purely on a single quarter. Instead the larger discussion about Apple is whether the company remains merely a mature, iPhone and buy-back driven entity or is there another growth phase on the horizon? While I believe the market may be moving too quickly toward putting Apple in the former category, the iPhone 17 appears to be developing more strongly than had been anticipated, services continue to grow at a pace consistent with other companies within this space and Apple continues to control one of the largest and most valuable consumer ecosystems globally. This is significant. As such, if Apple can make AI par...

patty_c/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images We’re at a strange crossroads in the stock market as we move through the Q1 earnings season. For the most part, we’re getting mixed messages on a tough economy and mixed earnings results against the backdrop of unresolved uncertainty in the Middle East. At the same time, the S&P 500 sits at record highs . My strategy for this market is to chase value rather than momentum and buy decliners that have earnings growth potential. Wayfair ( W ), the online furniture retailer, is looking particularly more compelling after a 10% post-Q1 earnings decline, extending a 35% correction since January: Data by YCharts I last wrote a "Neutral" article on Wayfair in February, when the stock was hovering near $80 per share. Since then, a number of tailwinds have moved in Wayfair’s direction. First and most obviously, the stock has corrected by ~20%, making its valuation multiples more appealing. Second, growth trends have remained more or less stable - and yet that’s an impressive achievement against a tighter macroeconomy where most retail peers have reported weaker spending. With both of these factors in mind, my confidence in Wayfair’s prospects has risen, and I’m boosting my rating on the stock to a "Buy." At current share prices, I see a more compelling bull thesis for Wayfair, which consists of the following: Wayfair is achieving market share gains in a tough climate. The company’s mid-single-digit revenue growth contrasts against what the company has cited to be low single-digit declines for the furniture industry. Broad set of brands at multiple price points. The company has higher-end labels like Perigold, while its everyday value-oriented Wayfair caters to the lower and middle segments of the furniture market. This breadth of choice may be helping Wayfair to retain and grow share in a tough macro. Reducing ad spending. Wayfair doesn’t have a “growth at all costs” mentality. Amid the tougher macro, the company has reduced ad spendin...
