Fly View Productions/E+ via Getty Images Gentex ( GNTX ) is a supplier of automotive and other engineered parts. They primarily serve the light vehicle market globally. The stock has been relatively lackluster YTD, down about 2%. Following a strong Q1 report, the stock has failed to gain ground, but not enough emphasis is being placed on what could happen as the market looks out to the next fiscal year. I believe the growth and earnings profile of Gentex is changing, which sets shares up for a re-rating. Business Profile Gentex is perhaps best known for auto-dimming rearview mirrors, but also makes integrated features inside the mirrors, smart mirrors, and other electrified products for light vehicles. The company has two primary geographic segments: North America and International. Within these geographical segments, they are broken down into interior and exterior mirrors. From a product standpoint, the company has three segments: Automotive Products, Premium Audio Products, and Other. Automotive Products is 89% of the company's total sales and has really only decreased in mix in the last year as premium audio products have come online as a result of an acquisition. Automotive products include digital vision and connected car products and electronics. Premium audio products include loudspeakers, architectural speakers, commercial and cinema speakers, outdoor speakers, wireless and Bluetooth speakers, A/V receivers, and many more. The other segment has a wide variety of items like fire protection, nanofiber, medical, aftermarket electronics, and biometrics but is a very small portion of revenue at just 5%, albeit growing. The company does detail out light vehicle production globally, most of which is on an LSD% decline regardless of the market we're looking at. Light vehicle production has not grown past 2017 levels. It's the same issue that every auto supplier faces today. While the production has grown since the lows of 2020-2022 due to the pandemic, it has not su...

Budrul Chukrut | Lightrocket | Getty Images Estee Lauder on Friday raised its annual profit forecast and laid out plans to cut up to 3,000 more jobs globally as it accelerates a broad restructuring plan, sending its shares up about 11% in premarket trading. The Clinique and M.A.C owner, which is in talks to merge with Jean Paul Gaultier-owner Puig , said it now expects a total reduction of 9,000 to 10,000 positions, up from a prior estimate of as many as 7,000, and aims to save as much as $1.2 billion in costs. More than 70% of the additional cuts will come from reducing department store staff roles, the company said as it shifts toward faster-growing digital and specialty retail channels. The company had about 57,000 employees worldwide as of June 30, 2025, according to its latest annual filing. Restructuring takes hold Estee's focus on boosting premium launches, streamlining the supply chain and ramping up innovation and marketing to strengthen growth under CEO Stephane de La Faverie's turnaround push helped it revive sales in key luxury markets, including China and Europe, during the reported quarter. The company expects full-year adjusted earnings per share in the range of $2.35 to $2.45, compared with a prior forecast of $2.05 to $2.25. It expects organic net sales growth at the high end of its prior range of 1% to 3%. The company, however, said that its current forecast was based on the assumption that there was no deterioration in the geopolitical landscape or related impacts, including tariffs and consumer sentiment, as well as business disruptions in the Middle East beyond May 2026. Estee posted quarterly sales of $3.71 billion, compared with analysts' estimates of $3.69 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. Its adjusted profit of 88 cents per share beat analysts' estimates...

From 1980s Cincinnati into the interstellar darkness, the stories of four women interconnect across the centuries in a gentle hymn to found families This is the kind of book you pitch by analogy: JG Ballard meets Gabrielle Zevin; Isaac Asimov meets Stephen Chbosky; Ready Player One meets Love, Simon (replete with ferris wheel). I’ve been describing it to friends as a YA Kazuo Ishiguro set adrift in Kevin Costner’s Waterworld. It turns out I have two kinds of friends: those who hear that description as praise, and those who heed it as a warning. Novels that demand comparisons rarely survive them. This one does (though it could do without that mawkish ferris wheel). American author Portia Elan’s debut is a gentle hymn to found families – the kin we choose rather than inherit – and it’s fitting that it reads that way, assembled from allegiances. Elan knows what her characters will discover: stories are how we claim one another. Continue reading...
