NicoElNino/iStock via Getty Images Exponent ( EXPO ) is a small company that operates in a unique niche of scientific and engineering consulting. It has a moat and market leadership, but many retail investors know little about the company and analysts cover it only on occasion. The company’s share price has experienced severe downward pressure since I last wrote about it, despite being consistently profitable with no debt. As a dividend growth stock, Exponent has a Dividend Contender status, a 13-year streak of consecutive annual increases, and outstanding safety. The company has many attractive characteristics including its bespoke business model, growth drivers and AI-related demand, and a sound balance sheet. That said, growth was previously a concern, but the firm is signaling rising top and bottom lines in fiscal 2026 and valuation is the lowest in some time. Hence, I view Exponent as a long-term ‘buy’. Overview of Exponent Exponent, Inc. traces its history to 1967 and is headquartered in Menlo Park, California. The firm operates in two segments, Engineering and Other Scientific segment and Environmental and Health segment. Apart from the two operating segments, the company divides its business into Reactive Services and Proactive Services. Reactive Services focuses on litigation support, accident and failure investigations, product recalls, regulatory actions, and insurance investigations. Proactive Services is forward-looking and focuses on product and process improvement, research and development, risk management, and regulatory consulting. The firm is a science and engineering consulting company with 950+ scientists, engineers, physicians, regulatory experts, etc., of which 650 are doctoral-level professionals. The firm’s employees serve on over 250 standards committees and advisory boards and 50+ editorial review boards. Total revenue was $537 million in fiscal year (“FY”) 2025 and $558 million in the last twelve months (“LTM”) without reimbursements. Reve...

Melchie Dumornay continues to make a strong claim for that accolade after her starring role in OL Lyonnes’ comeback to beat Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals. The fearless Haiti international won a first-half penalty and provided a superb assist for Jule Brand’s late winner in the second leg, as well as being a constant thorn in Arsenal’s side with her pace, trickery and energy. The attacking midfielder, having missed the first leg through injury, helped the French side come from 2-1 down to win 4-3 on aggregate. Tom Garry Continue reading...

Jonathan Kitchen Artificial intelligence chipmaker Cerebras Systems ( CBRS ) said on Monday that it is seeking to raise up to $3.5B in its upcoming initial public offering. It is looking to sell up to 28M shares, priced between $115 and $125 each, according to an amended S-1 that was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. That would value the company, which competes with Nvidia ( NVDA ) and AMD ( AMD ), at roughly $26.5B, based on the number of shares outstanding. AMD is also a backer of Cerebras. Cerebras filed for its initial public offering last month, after it signed a pair of significant deals with OpenAI ( OPENAI ) and Amazon Web Services ( AMZN ). Cerebras' revenue increased 76% year over year to $510M in 2025, according to the filing. The company produced a net income of $237.8M in 2025 after a net loss of $481.6M in 2024. Cerebras' chips focus on inference, which is increasingly what the bulk of AI workloads require. Cerebras originally filed for a public offering in September 2024, but the effort stalled amid a federal review of its ties with the Abu Dhabi AI company G42. In October 2025, Cerebras withdrew its plans to pursue an IPO. Last month, Cerebras indicated that the issue had been resolved, and G42 is no longer listed as a commercial partner and minority investor in Cerebras. If approved, Cerebras stock will appear on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol CBRS. The offering is being led by Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Barclays, and UBS. Marcus Lindstrom Pop Mart International Group Limited ( POPMF ) ( PMRTY ) has reopened its theme park in Beijing as the company leaned heavily into the explosive popularity of its Labubu character franchise, which has become a standout success across collectibles, retail, and entertainment. The reopening of Pop Land reflects the company's broader strategy of extending its intellectual property beyond toys into immersive, experience-driven formats to deepen fan engagement and monetize its growing portfolio of original characters. Of course, the elf-like Labubu figure created by artist Kasing Lung has emerged as one of Pop Mart's ( POPMF ) ( PMRTY ) most commercially powerful IPs, driving strong sales both domestically in China and internationally. By centering the park’s attractions, themed zones, and merchandise around Labubu and related characters, Pop Mart ( POPMF ) ( PMRTY ) is looking to turn the consumer product hit into a lifestyle and entertainment ecosystem that outlives its viral social media phase. The park includes character-themed rides, interactive installations, exclusive collectibles, and experiential retail that mirrors the treasure hunt appeal of the company's blind-box business model. Pop Land first opened in 2023 and is expected to be expanded further in the upcoming years. Norwegian Cruise Cuts Outlook On Gulf Disruptions, Fuel Shock Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings shares fell in premarket trading in New York after the cruise ship operator lowered its full-year 2026 outlook, as disruptions in the Middle East, higher diesel costs, and softer travel demand in Europe weighed on first-quarter bookings. "The Company is experiencing headwinds related to disruptions in the Middle East, including higher fuel expense and signs of softer demand as consumers reevaluate travel plans, particularly to Europe," Norwegian Cruise wrote in a press release . It continued, "As previously noted, the Company entered 2026 behind its targeted booking curve, and these headwinds have hindered the Company's ability to accelerate bookings and close that gap," adding, "These external pressures come as the Company continues to enhance its revenue management system and improve execution, resulting in additional pressure on the business and a reduction in its full-year guidance." Norwegian Cruise now expects adjusted EPS of $1.45 to $1.79, down from its prior forecast of $2.38 and well below the Bloomberg Consensus estimate. The downgraded outlook reflects, as management noted above, higher fuel prices, weaker European travel demand, and softer-than-expected bookings across all three of its brands. Here's a snapshot of the full-year outlook (courtesy of Bloomberg): Sees adjusted EPS $1.45 to $1.79, saw about $2.38, estimate $2.13 Sees adjusted Ebitda $2.48 billion to $2.64 billion, saw $2.95 billion, estimate $2.79 billion Sees depreciation and amortization $1.09 billion, saw $1.09 billion, estimate $1.08 billion Sees net yields -3% to -5% Sees Constant currency net yields about -3% to -5% Norwegian Cruise's second-quarter forecast also missed the Bloomberg Consensus, reinforcing all the concerns management noted above. Here's a snapshot of the second-quarter outlook (courtesy of Bloomberg): Sees adjusted EPS 38c, estimate 53c (Bloomberg Consensus) Sees adjusted Ebit...
