Every weekday, the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a "Morning Meeting" livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here's a recap of Monday's key moments. 1. The S & P 500 was lower Monday after Friday's fresh record highs driven by artificial intelligence and data center buildouts. Even with an uptick in oil, Jim Cramer said that AI is what's carrying the market. Our big four hyperscalers — Amazon , Alphabet , Meta Platforms , and Microsoft — boosted their combined AI spending commitments by over 14% to $695 billion alongside their reports last week. It's why Jim explained in his Sunday Column that talks of an AI spending bubble have been proven wrong this quarter. "[Investors] have to look at the vast web of business that is created by the data centers to realize that this is not by any means a small sector that's driving the market," Cramer added. 2. Eaton shares were up modestly ahead of earnings due out Tuesday morning. The Club holding benefits from the data center buildout through its electrical and liquid cooling solutions, hence why the stock hit a record high last Thursday. "If you sell it, it's only because you want to take a profit, not because anything's going wrong," Jim said, adding that Eaton is a well-positioned company. DuPont also reports Tuesday morning. The Street will be paying most attention to the impact of Middle East and high oil prices on the business, but also to continued operational improvements following the Qnity spin off. 3. Corning shares were modestly higher ahead of its Analyst Day on Wednesday. The stock has recovered a big chunk from last week's post-earnings drop and is still up over 80% year to date. Investors are anticipating updates on long-term targets and details on the two new (but yet to be named) hyperscaler deals that Corning announced last week. "Like Eaton, don't sell this stock," Jim said. "These are companies that are going to be in the data center, bigger and bigger and bigger each year." 4. Stocks covered in Monday's ...

New York Stock Exchange insider Jay Woods is keeping an eye on an earnings report from Uber Technologies this week, which could possibly spark a share price rally. Uber will report first-quarter results before Wednesday's opening bell. Shares closed at $75.12 on Friday afternoon. Woods, chief market strategist at Freedom Capital Markets, believes that the stock will find strong support around the $70 to $72 level, and investors should buy shares if the ride-hailing service trades in that area. "Uber's been stuck in neutral, but it's broken a recent downtrend," said Woods "$70, $72 is support. It looks like it's strong support." He added: "So any dip, we believe Uber should be bought. And then on a rally, if you can get back above $78 it should be smooth sailing to $85 — the 200-day moving average — as this stock does try to make that U-turn." Uber had fallen for six straight months until April, when it rebounded almost 4%. (Watch full video above.) There are two distinct phases in retirement planning. The first is accumulation: saving consistently, investing for growth, and staying invested through market cycles. This is the phase most financial advisers are trained for, and the one most people spend their working lives focused on. ( AXSM ), the New York-headquartered, commercial-stage Pharmaceuticals company, reported its Q1 2026 earnings and business updates earlier today. Shares are up >10% in early trading today, trading at a value of $230, and the company's market cap is $11.8bn. Shares are up 25% year-to-date, >70% on a six-month basis, >100% on a 1-year basis, and up >290% on a five-year basis. In my last note on the company for Seeking Alpha, covering Q4 earnings , I downgraded my rating from a Buy to a Hold. Shares are up ~18% since that Hold call and up >100% since my Buy call made in July 2025. Let's take a look at some of the headline figures from today's earnings, but first, let me share a slide from Axsome's earnings presentation providing an overview of the company: Axsome company overview (presentation) As we can see, Axsome's primary focus is on central nervous system ("CNS") diseases, and it has three approved products across four CNS indications: major depressive disorder ("MDD"), agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease ("AADAD"), for which approval was secured just a few days ago, on May 1st, excessive daytime sleepiness ("EDS") in adult patients with narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea ("OSA"), and migraine. Auvelity, approved to treat MDD and AADAD, earned revenues of $153.2m in Q1, up 59% year-on-year; Sunosi, approved for EDS, $33.9m, up 34%; and Symbravo $4.1m. Symbravo was approved in January 2025. The $191m of total revenues represents 57% year-on-year growth, although we may note that Auvelity revenues did fall sequentially, from $155.1m in Q4, as did Sunosi's, from $36.7m. Portfolio Review U.S. Fund A Shares (without sales charge*) posted a return of 1.17% in first quarter 2026. Energy and materials were the leading contributors among equity sectors, while information technology, communications services and healthcare were the largest detractors. The US Fund outperformed the S&P 500 Index in the period. Energy stocks broadly outperformed in the first quarter due to surging oil and natural gas prices following the outbreak of war in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which provides passage for roughly 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply. Every major subsector participated in this rally, including integrated producers and service providers. Leading contributors in the First Eagle U.S. Fund this quarter included gold bullion, Exxon Mobil Corporation ( XOM ), Noble Corporation PLC Class A ( NE ), IPG Photonics Corporation ( IPGP ) and SLB Limited ( SLB ). After surging to a new all-time nominal high in January, the price of gold bullion consolidated in February and ultimately sold off sharply in March with the outbreak of war between the US/Israel and Iran. Despite a significant intra-quarter peak-to-trough decline, however, gold managed to deliver a solid first quarter gain. We believe the sustained rally in gold over the past two-plus years reflected growing concerns about a potential large-scale disruptive event, which came to fruition on February 28. Though gold may continue to face near-term downside risks as energy-driven inflation pressures reverberate throughout the global economy and fuel higher real interest rates, its long-term fundamentals remain strong, in our view, as does the case for strategic portfolio exposure to the metal. Nevertheless, the market failed to reward and stock prices fell. Investors worried about weakening cross-border travel and geopolitical tensions . Such a response seems more connected to a broader situation than to the business itself. As for the company specifically, Mastercard remains on a stable course and with strong growth in its primary areas. What is more interesting is how Mastercard is just quietly transforming its business. It’s not just about processing payments any longer. The company has been putting an excessive focus on value-added services such as cybersecurity, fraud detection, and data analytics which not only grow faster but carry higher margins. This trend is slowly transforming the earnings profile of the company and maybe making it more resilient in the long run. Things have not changed dramatically, and the forecasts have been made towards steady increases in revenue and earnings through 2026. Price targets also imply that there is still room for upside. The overall picture indicates that Mastercard will continue to outperform much of its industry, which is another indication that, in the long run, the story remains very much intact. Mastercard has a very good company rating score of 87 out of 100. In summary, it seems to be an extremely efficient business. The US military helped two American-flagged ships go through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a broader effort to open a lane through the vital waterway, the commander of US Central Command told reporters. Admiral Brad Cooper said Iran has tried to interfere with vessels in the area over the last 12 hours, and the US successfully repelled both drone and missile attacks. He said US helicopters had also destroyed small boats going after commercial vessels. “The US military has the clear advantage,” Cooper said. He said the US remains fully committed to maintaining its blockade of Iranian vessels. Asked if the confrontations meant a nearly month-long ceasefire between the US and Iran was over, Cooper said American assets in the region remain a defensive force.

Airlines had actually been at work for months on their route changes as Spirit's shutdown looked more and more likely. Some new flights start this week. It comes after Spirit abruptly ceased operations overnight Saturday, stranding thousands of customers. The quick move shows how carriers are vying for Spirit's valuable assets, like airport gates and a customer base that has one less choice when booking. That could drive up airfare even more than it already has risen after the fuel-driven hikes this year, analysts said. Even though Spirit's already pared-down summer schedule was about 1.5% of U.S. domestic capacity, it could have a broader impact on the industry and travelers' wallets, Barclays airline analyst Brandon Oglenski said in a note Monday. "Beyond direct revenue capture from Spirit's prior network, we also suspect industry pricing could benefit significantly for nearly all airlines given the removal of excess point-to-point capacity, which will likely drive even higher unit revenue outcomes in the near term," he said. For now, other airlines are announcing their new flights as they look to fill the gaps from Spirit's absence and compete for Spirit's routes and gates. Breeze Airways is launching a flight out of Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Charleston, South Carolina. The carrier also plans to run year-round service from Atlantic City to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina and Tampa, Florida.
