Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) slipped on Monday, on track to snap a seven-session winning streak, with shares closing down 1.39% at $13.12. The pullback follows a sharp rally in which the stock rose nearly 35% over the past seven sessions, significantly outperforming the S&P 500 Index , which rose about 1.3% over the same period. Year to date, Nokia shares are up more than 105%, compared with a roughly 5.6% gain in the broader index. On fundamentals, sentiment remains constructive. Seeking Alpha analyst Chris Lau maintains a Buy rating, citing strong momentum and Nvidia ’s $1B investment tied to AI-powered 6G platforms. The company is also benefiting from hyperscaler demand, 800G upgrades, and strength in edge routing, though valuation remains stretched and growth metrics are weak. Another Seeking Alpha contributor, Stone Fox Capital , also rates the stock a Buy, pointing to AI-driven growth across optical networks and AI & cloud networking. Nokia expects network infrastructure sales to grow at a 12%–14% CAGR through 2028, with optical networks projected to expand 18%–20%, alongside meaningful margin expansion. Despite bullish analyst sentiment, Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating remains at Hold, with a score of 3.48 out of 5, reflecting mixed fundamentals including strong profitability but weak growth and moderate valuation metrics. Wall Street analysts and Seeking Alpha analysts are broadly positive on the stock, with most rating the stock a Buy. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul Atkins said the agency is investigating allegations of fraud in private credit firms, though he declined to say specifically which companies are under scrutiny. Atkins spoke Monday at the Milken Institute Global Conference, noting the SEC was monitoring the private credit space alongside the US Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve . “We are taking it seriously, we are monitoring the situation,” Atkins said, adding the agency is examining various firms like the regulator would normally do. “There’s been allegations of fraud and obviously I can’t talk about any specific cases, but we are investigating that as well.” In addition to discussing potential issues, Atkins touted the benefit of private credit and said the markets serve an as an important source of credit and funding for small and private businesses. Atkins has previously said the sector is not a systemic risk but noted in April the agency was tracking “emerging pressures” as redemption requests persisted alongside rising projections for defaults. Investors should continue favoring the winning stocks within the utilities sector, despite the recent cool-off in the rally, according to Wolfe Research. The S & P 500 sector added just over 2% in April. By comparison, the broad index as a whole climbed over 10% for its biggest monthly gain in more than half of a decade . But the sector is up more than 8% for 2026, outpacing the S & P 500's gain of around 5%. "Investor dollars hurried back into tech and growth sectors and out of defensive utilities," Wolfe senior analyst Steve Fleishman said in a Sunday note to clients. Still, utilities "remain 400bps ahead of the market for the year." Fleishman said the story for the sector is that "winners keep winning." Wolfe highlighted the best performers so far this year: Fleishman pointed to Entergy , which has led the sector higher this year with a climb of more than 27%. Entergy is on track for its third straight positive year. The New Orleans-based company announced an additional deal with Meta in March and r aised its long-term forecast , Fleishman said. He also noted that the company is tracking to see a compound annual growth rate for earnings of 13% between 2026 and 2030 — a percentage that he said is "unheard of" for a regulated utility. ETR YTD mountain Entergy, year to date The majority of analysts have a buy rating on Entergy, according to LSEG. The average price target implies shares can add around 4% over the next 12 months. Fleishman said NiSource and American Electric Power — in addition to Entergy — have seen more upside from capital expenditures. That's in part because they are exposed to states and regulators in support of data center expansion, the analyst said. NiSource and American Electric have also been among sector leaders this year, up more than 15% and 17%, respectively. The average analyst polled by LSEG has buy ratings on each name. The typical analyst predicts American Electric and NiSource will each rise more than 5% over the next year, per LSEG.

When you pay closer attention, however, something troubling is happening. In fact, the stock market is doing something right now that it has only done three other times in the past 156 years. Markets have now done this four total times, and history is clear about what happens next. Hint: It's not pretty. hxdbzxy/iStock via Getty Images The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that it's probing potential antitrust violations in the meatpacking industry as domestic beef prices soar. "There is a lot of work that has been done and a lot of work to do,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said at a news conference on Monday, according to a Bloomberg account of the event on Monday. “We are moving as quickly as we can.” Bloomberg first reported late last month that the DOJ had opened a criminal probe into how meatpackers purchase cattle from ranchers. The inquiry came after President Donald Trump in November called for an investigation, accusing the industry of artificially driving up the price of beef. Blanche said the industry is dominated by four major processors that control roughly 85% of the beef processing market. The investigation is centered on potential collusion, price fixing, and other anticompetitive conduct in the U.S. cattle and beef markets, according to Reuters report on the press conference. Major meatpackers include Brazil's JBS ( JBS ), Tyson ( TSN ), Cargill, and National Beef. Spokespersons for JBS, Tyson, Cargill, and National Beef didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment from Bloomberg. More on Tyson Foods, JBS N.V. Tyson Foods, Inc. U.S. Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) looks on during a press conference about the SAVE America Act in the U.S. Capitol on March 17, 2026 in Washington, DC. Heather Diehl | Getty Images House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced on Monday that he's deploying Rep. Joe Morelle this week to meet with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and state legislators about mid-decade redistricting in the state. Jeffries and Morelle, both New York Democrats , said in a joint statement the effort is a response to the Supreme Court's decision last week weakening a section of the Voting Rights Act , a landmark 1965 civil rights law that prohibits discrimination in voting. The 6-3 ruling strikes down a majority-Black, Democrat-held district in Louisiana. And it could lead to similar districts being drawn out of existence in multiple Republican -led states ahead of the 2026 midterm elections . "While far-right extremists on the Supreme Court have twice recklessly cleared the path for partisan gerrymandering, Democrats refuse to unilaterally disarm," Jeffries said. "This is just the beginning. Across the nation, we will sue, we will redraw and we will win. House Democrats will not allow a MAGA majority to be built on rigged maps and the dilution of Black voting strength." AndreyPopov/iStock via Getty Images Building a Yield Shield The first four months of 2026 have delivered an important reminder to income investors: Safety will require an active mindset more often than not. Ending the first quarter, sticky inflation has become a concern once again—bolstered by a 12% spike in energy prices ignited by the U.S. involvement in the Iran War. For those parked in standard dividend appreciation benchmark ETFs, the results have been less than ideal. While the broad market has remained resilient—with the S&P 500 rising 10.4% in April for its biggest monthly gain since November 2020—income investors searching for yield in traditionally “safe” ETFs have struggled to keep pace with the recent reemergence of inflation. As the calendar turns over and we hit the month of May, financial pundits across the media are likely to dust off their favorite annual warning, “Sell in May and go away.” After all, it's a midterm year, right? Recent history writes a different story, though. While the next six months do typically produce weaker gains, it has rarely been negative. In fact, since 2016, only 2022 saw negative performance in May-October. Carson Group Skeptics would be right to point out that 2022, the last midterm year, was also fraught with inflation worries. But 2026 is not 2022. The “noise” may continue to echo across Wall Street this summer, which is why investors should be looking for an “all-weather” diversified solution. Investors can find signals in Seeking Alpha’s Quant Model, which has consistently outperformed the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF ( VIG ) over the past decade.
