In this article NVO Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT People walk past a sign for Novo Nordisk’s annual general meeting at the entrance to the venue in Copenhagen, Denmark, March 26, 2026. Tom Little | Reuters Novo Nordisk hiked annual profit guidance on Tuesday, as the pharmaceutical group revealed its blockbuster weight-loss drugs sold far more than expected in the first three months of the year. The Danish drugmaker said first-quarter sales jumped 32% on a constant currency basis to reach 96.8 billion Danish kroner ($15.2 billion), soaring above an analyst consensus of 71.3 billion kroner compiled by FactSet. Operating profit surged 65% year-on-year to 59,618 kroner, also hugely beating expectations of 31.7 billion kroner. Sales of its injectable Wegovy drug jumped 12% year-on-year, while Ozempic sales fell by 8%. The broader obesity care category saw adjusted constant currency sales rise by 22%. Novo said the sales increases were positively impacted by a provision reversal related to the 340B Drug Pricing Program in the US. The quarter was the first period covering sales of Novo's oral weight loss drug, the Wegovy pill, in the U.S. Sales of the pill amounted to 2.26 billion kroner. Despite accounting for only a fraction of total sales, investors are closely watching the sales trajectory of the pills, which is widening the market for these drugs. In its earnings release on Tuesday, Novo said the Wegovy pill, which saw around 1.3 million prescriptions in the first three months of the year, had been the strongest-ever GLP-1 volume launch in the U.S. Novo hiked its 2026 full-year guidance on the back of increased expectations for GLP-1 product sales, saying it now expects adjusted sales to contract by -4% to -12% on a currency-adjusted basis. Adjusted operating profit growth is now expected to fall in the range of -4% to -12%. Iuliia Korniievych /iStock via Getty Images I have always found myself to be a curious person. I think that's one of the reasons why I thrive when it comes to investing. I always want to learn more, to read more, and to understand more. My curiosity naturally leads me to new and interesting prospects. And the latest example of this can be seen by looking at Conrad Industries ( CNRD ), a rather small player in the shipbuilding industry with a market capitalization of $174.9 million. Truth be told, there are some signs of weakness that investors should be aware of. But on the whole, the enterprise has done quite well in recent years. Management has grown revenue nicely while improving the enterprise from a net loss position to a net profit position. And right now, shares are trading cheap both on an absolute basis and relative to other companies that are probably the closest comparables that we are going to get. Because I am not a fan of the decline in backlog that we have exhibited, I am a bit cautious about it. But I do still think it justifies a soft "Buy" rating at this time. Taking a Cruise on Conrad Industries Since this is the first time that I have ever written about Conrad Industries, I think it would be helpful to dig into exactly what the company is and what it does. The management team at the business says that the firm specializes in the construction, conversion, and repair of steel marine vessels that are used for both commercial and governmental customers. Examples here include large and small deck barges, crane barges, spud barges, docking barges, tank barges, berthing barges, floodgates, dredges, dry docks, and more. It even is involved in the production of LNG bunker vessels, lift boats, and ferries. The business has been operating since 1948 and, today, has two different operating segments. The largest and most relevant of these is its Vessel Construction segment, which is specifically focused on the construction of vessels, as its name indicates. H...
