A halt on trade flows through the strait of Hormuz could spell trouble for many developed economies US-Israel war on Iran – latest updates The US-Israeli war on Iran has ignited fears that escalating military aggression in the Middle East could send oil prices soaring, push up prices at the pump and drive a global economic downturn. The US began “major combat operations” in Iran on Saturday morning, shortly after Israel launched a strike against Tehran. Within hours of the US-Israeli strikes, tankers in the strait of Hormuz were reportedly warned by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard that no ship would be allowed to pass through the world’s most critical oil trade route. aprott/iStock via Getty Images USA Rare Earth ( USAR ) has seen more than its fair share of volatility since listing in March 2025. The stock has more than tripled to current levels from the March lows of ~$6, despite giving back most of its gains after spikes over $40 in October 2025, and another in January, which tested highs around ~$32. The company has been propelled by a string of government funding announcements and a separate $1.5B private placement. However, its fundamental story is lacking and based on speculation. Data by YCharts Pre-revenue with an enlarging cost base Apart from a short trading history (<1 year), USAR remains a company with no revenue. During the first three quarters of 2025, no sales were recorded, while adjusted operating expenses have climbed from $8.8M in 2Q25 to $8.9M in 3Q25. This excludes the $3.2M in stock-based compensation, M&A costs, and severance pay. The management expects 4Q25 adjusted OPEX to reach $13M-$15M, reflecting an accelerated hiring spree and commissioning activity at its Stillwater plant. If we steer back to GAAP, we have to work with a noisy set of data. The net loss in 3Q25 was in fact $156.7M, or -$1.64 per share. This was mainly due to a $142M non-cash fair value adjustment on warrant and earn-out liabilities. In 2Q25, GAAP net loss was $142.5M, or -$1.54/share. The net loss is persistent with growing costs. The company finished the third quarter with $257.6M cash in hand and no significant debt. Operating cash flow burn was $21.1M during the first three quarters of 2025. Capex spend has been steadily increasing—$3M/$3.2M/$7.1M in 1Q/2Q/3Q of FY25. This was primarily for improving plant and equipment. Recapitalization keeps it going In January 2026, USAR closed a $1.5B PIPE deal, and issued 69.8M shares at $21.50, with Inflection Point as the anchor investor. Later in the same month, the company announced a non-binding letter of intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce's CHIPS program, which led to up to $1...

VelhoJunior/iStock Editorial via Getty Images A couple of years ago, in early December of 2023, I acknowledged that The Campbell's Company ( CPB ), known back then as Campbell Soup Company, was seeing some deterioration in its business. Despite this, I made the case that the company offered investors some attractive upside. Because of this, I ended up reaffirming it as a ‘buy’ candidate. Since then, however, the market has strongly disagreed with my assertion. The S&P 500 is up 50.2% since then. But over that same window of time, shares of this prospect are down a whopping 31.9%. Naturally, this is disappointing. And it comes at a time when fundamentals for the business have worsened. Having said that, I maintain that while there are some issues with the company, it is cheap enough to justify a bullish outlook, even with this year's almost certain to be worse off than last year was. Times Have Been Tough Author - SEC EDGAR Data The last couple of years have been a tough time for shareholders of The Campbell's Company. Even though the company has been successful in growing revenue nicely, profitability has taken a hit. In the chart above, you can see financial results for the 2023 through 2025 fiscal years. During that time, revenue expanded from $9.36 billion to $10.25 billion. Some profitability metrics held up well. One great example of this would be EBITDA. It actually increased. Adjusted operating cash flow, which strips out changes in working capital from regular operating cash flow, was virtually flat. But overall net profits and adjusted net profits declined. Author - SEC EDGAR Data The chart above shows financial results for the first quarter of 2026. Unlike what we saw in prior years, this time the business saw a weakening. Sales fell from $2.77 billion to $2.68 billion. But what's interesting is that both categories of revenue for the company took a hit. In the chart below, you can see that, in recent years, the Snacks operations of the company reported co...
