Moreover, post Computex we lift our CPU 2030 TAM model to $137B from prior $132B and still expect AMD to be the key beneficiary of the CPU renaissance due to its performance leadership, greater core counts, X86 ISA, broader SKU offerings, and support for both multithreading and single threading.” Malik raised his rating on AMD to Buy from Neutral and upped his price target to $575 from $460. The SpaceX facility and a Falcon 9 rocket booster are shown, as the company prepares to file for an initial public offering (IPO), in Hawthorne California, U.S., April 23, 2026. Mike Blake | Reuters Elon Musk 's SpaceX will need to achieve at least two of its three "moonshots" to justify its huge valuation, a former Tesla board member told CNBC Friday. Musk's reusable rocket company is looking to raise $75 billion, selling 555.6 million shares for $135 apiece, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The deal values SpaceX at $1.77 trillion, making it the seventh most-valuable U.S. company, ahead of Tesla . Venture capitalist and former Tesla board member Steve Westly told CNBC's "Squawk Box Europe" on Friday that pricing SpaceX's imminent IPO is going to be hard to predict, as its three core companies are "completely disparate." In addition to its space business, Musk's company owns the Starlink satellite internet service, which accounts for the bulk of its revenue and is the only profitable unit. It also includes xAI, which Musk merged with SpaceX in February. "SpaceX is three moonshots in one company, but I think they're going to need to make at least two of these moonshots successful to keep that $2 trillion valuation," said Westly, who also founded venture fund, The Westly Group. SpaceX has achieved its goal of becoming the largest IPO on record. The number of underlying businesses could expand further still, as speculation builds that Musk could eventually merge Tesla into SpaceX. CNBC reported in May , citing people familiar with the matter, that Tesla and SpaceX already have a laundry list of shared resources, and Musk has discussed with colleagues the possibility of folding the companies together. Westly told CNBC's Arjun Kharpal that a move to fold Tesla into SpaceX is "absolutely likely." "It's going to be a tricky one. There will be a lot of governance issues, people will have complaints about that, but… I think there's a good c...

Investors used to watching US equities go nowhere but up since late March have spent the past week without a reliable playbook. Conviction in technology megacaps, the market’s most reliable bets for most of the spring, has deteriorated, forcing the group to flip-flop between losses and gains. Reversals stung the broader S&P 500 Index, too, as the gauge earlier this week clocked one of the biggest swings since the peak of the tariff-related rout in April 2025. The back-and-forth rotation is likely here to stay, say strategists at 22V Research, as investors weigh signs of a solid economy against rising prospects of restrictive monetary policy. The firm’s regime dispersion indicator, a rough measure of how fast the moods are shifting from fear to greed, has jumped to the 94th percentile of observations, signaling increased disagreement among investors regarding where stocks are headed. “The internals of the market are oscillating between risk-on and risk-off backdrops in a more extreme way than we have seen historically,” said Dennis DeBusschere , chief market strategist at 22V Research. Appetites for risk have ebbed and flowed since Friday, when stronger-than-expected labor data all but put to bed hopes for interest-rate cuts this year. The report pushed the market into a “risk averse regime” for the first time since January, according to 22V Research. The information technology sector spent the next four days oscillating between the worst and best-performing group in the S&P 500. The Nasdaq 100 Index plunged 4.8% last Friday. It has posted a move of 1% or more in either direction for five straight days, which ties for the most since August 2024. “The market may be in a much-deserved rest” after “a historic run, and two-sided trading is more the norm,” said Ken Mahoney , chief executive officer at Mahoney Asset Management. “Just like in the movie The Perfect Storm, this market was hit with high winds, a cold front and heavy rain all at once.” ‘Fear and Greed’ Volatili...
