Earnings Call Insights: United Therapeutics (UTHR) Q1 2026 Management View Dr. Martine Rothblatt framed the quarter around two Phase III programs, saying, "We just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt with a p-value of less than 0.0001 that we have 2 different therapeutics in 2 different diseases of substantial size." She added, "The 2 diseases we will be the best therapeutic for based on the completed Phase III trials are IPF with Tyvaso and PAH with ralinepag." Rothblatt connected those programs to longer-term scale, stating, "Each of the 2 products will exceed our total revenues of today, a revenue run rate of $3 billion going to $4 billion by the end of 2027." On ralinepag adoption, she said, "I fully expect within 2 years of launch, it will double our number of PAH patients to over 30,000 total." Rothblatt introduced an additional inhaled ralinepag program, stating, "I am excited to announce... an inhaled formulation of our new chemical entity, ralinepag called RALDPI." She also said, "We foresee our RALDPI product rising to tens of thousands of treated patients through PAH, ILD, IPF and PPF," and tied manufacturing to demand by noting the need for "all the capacity of the Danbury, Connecticut MannKind production plant and all the capacity of the new United Therapeutics North Carolina DPI facility." President & COO Michael Benkowitz described near-term commercial conditions and competitive context: "For the first quarter of 2026, we recorded $782 million in total revenue," and said "severe winter weather and pharmacy operations issues... slowed starts during the quarter." He added, "Tyvaso referrals or prescriptions rates are at approximately the same level they were before YUTREPIA launched," and, "Patient shipments have grown for the last 5 months." No prepared remarks from CFO James Edgemond were included in this transcript. Outlook Benkowitz reiterated near-term growth expectations, stating, "As discussed on our last earnings call, we expect to return to seque...

Earnings Call Insights: Northwest Natural Holding Company (NWN) Q1 2026 Management View "Overall, the first quarter results were strong and in line with our expectations" and "we also reaffirmed our 2026 and long-term guidance," said President, CEO & Director Justin Palfreyman, highlighting "solid execution" and "healthy customer growth" across "3 distinct regulated utility businesses." (President, CEO & Director Justin Palfreyman) Palfreyman detailed a Washington regulatory filing: "Northwest Natural filed a multiparty settlement" that "provides for annual revenue requirement increases over 3 years, including $20.1 million in the first year beginning August 1, 2026, $7.7 million in the second year and $8.7 million in the third year," with "a return on equity of 9.5%." (President, CEO & Director Palfreyman) In Oregon, Palfreyman said the company filed "an alternative rate mechanism" with "a modest 1.5% rate increase beginning October 31, 2026" while multiyear rate case rulemaking "could extend into 2027." (President, CEO & Director Palfreyman) On Texas Gas, Palfreyman said SiEnergy filed a general rate case requesting "a $12 million revenue requirement increase" and cited "an increase in average rate base of $176.9 million since the last rate case for a total rate base of $343.1 million," adding the filing seeks GRIP-related factors to "further align capital investment with timely cost recovery." (President, CEO & Director Palfreyman) CFO Raymond Kaszuba said, "Adjusted earnings per share was $2.33 compared to $2.28 in the prior year period" and added, "we have updated our segments" so Northwest Natural Gas is "reported as a single segment, consolidating the gas utility and storage operations." mbbirdy/E+ via Getty Images The U.S. economy is showing no signs of strain from the ongoing Iran war, according to Jonathan Golub, chief equity strategist at Seaport Research Partners. In an interview with CNBC, Golub noted that key market risk indicators, including the VIX and high yield spreads, have actually fallen below their pre-war levels despite the significant geopolitical conflict in the Middle East. Even with oil prices climbing more than $30 since the war began, annual GDP expectations are now higher than they were before the conflict started. Golub observed that the market is effectively dismissing concerns about rising treasury yields and higher inflation expectations, adding that “expectations for this week’s Friday jobs report are strong.” Market volatility remains surprisingly subdued given the circumstances, presenting what Golub describes as a unique opportunity for investors looking to protect their portfolios. “The cost of hedging downside risk is insanely cheap right now,” he said, noting that this exists even with significant geopolitical and inflationary concerns looming over the market. The broader economy continues to demonstrate resilience, with industrial activity holding firm and the ISM indicating business demand is in “clear expansion mode.” Despite higher gasoline prices, Golub pointed out that consumers are “not really showing any kind of offsetting weakness,” suggesting that elevated energy costs have not yet triggered a broader economic slowdown. Institutional investors, particularly hedge funds, remain cautiously positioned after reducing their exposure when the war began. Golub explained that these investors feared the situation “could spiral out of control or it could spike in an unexpected way,” leaving them “substantially underexposed” to both their winning and losing positions. The strategist also identified a notable rotation occurring within technology sectors. While AI chip companies were previously underinvested, that posi...

Rawbank SA, the biggest lender in the Democratic Republic of Congo, saw after-tax profit increase at 9% to $232 million in 2025. The pace of growth slowed from an 11% increase in 2024. Revenue as measured by net banking income rose by a third to $682 million, driven by a 10% increase in lending activity as the bank deepened its exposure to mining, infrastructure and small and medium-sized business financing, Rawbank’s chief financial officer said Wednesday. “We’ve got 25% growth in our SME portfolio,” CFO Kadija Sangho Keita said by phone, adding that the cost of risk for the small and medium-sized enterprises’ loan book was the same as the bank’s other loan portfolios due in part to risk-sharing financing from the International Finance Corp. and other development finance institutions. Congo, the world’s second-biggest copper producer, still has a relatively small banking sector with vast room for growth. Its economy is set to expand more than 6% this year and only about a quarter of its more than 100 million citizens has formal bank accounts, according to the central bank. Equity Sees Congo Profit Surpassing Kenyan Home Market’s by 2028 Congo’s Biggest Bank Gets $265 Million in IFC-Led Financing Congo Raises $1.25 Billion in Debut Dollar Bond Issuance Kinshasa-based Rawbank, which is mainly owned by Congo’s Rawji family, saw total assets hit $6.82 billion while non-performing loans remained contained at just 2.82%. The bank’s return on equity topped 36% from 33% in 2024. Sangho Keita said the bank is discussing more syndicated loan offerings for the country’s miners and is ready to bring companies to the international debt market after working with Citigroup Inc. on Congo’s first-ever Eurobond offering last month, which was four-times oversubscribed. “We are one of the first local African banks to structure this kind of operation,” Sangho Keita said. “If we have mining sector or other corporates who want to go to the international market, today they know that Rawba...

First-quarter earnings season might be nearing its end, but Morgan Stanley believes there are still stocks worth playing for a post-results boost. Approximately 78% of the S & P 500 — or 394 companies in the index — have reported earnings so far. Of those, nearly 85% have posted earnings that have surprised to the upside, while 78% have posted revenues above Wall Street expectations. But Morgan Stanley sees potential in some stocks that have yet to report. In a Wednesday note, the bank shared a basket of stocks from the MSCI U.S. index that are expected to report earnings between May 7 and June 2, are rated overweight by Morgan Stanley's equity analysts and fall within the top two quintiles of what it calls an Earnings Surprise Composite score. Some stocks from the basket are shown below: Ulta Beauty is expected to report earnings on Monday, June 1. Bank of America upgraded the beauty retailer to a buy rating from neutral on Tuesday. Analyst Lorraine Hutchinson believes Ulta is more attractive after a pullback, especially as the retailer could be poised profit from some recent investments. Shares of Ulta are down 12% on the year and 24% in the past three months. The stock fell after the company told investors in March that it had spent $434 million to renovate and open new stores, improve information technology systems, expand its Wellness by Ulta retail space and expand internationally. "ULTA is using [its recent investments] to build a flywheel to drive growth instead of just running on a treadmill to keep up," Hutchinson wrote. "The pullback has brought elevated investor expectations down to earth in our view, creating an opportunity to invest in a high quality compounder at a discount to peers." The analyst's $685 price target offers upside of 29% from where shares closed Tuesday. Retail giant Target reports earnings on Tuesday, May 19. Shares have rebounded 32% this year after plunging between 2022 and 2025. In a Tuesday note to clients, Citigroup stood by its ...
