AirPods Pro 3 | Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge Apple's rumored AirPods with cameras are nearing a stage where the company will test early mass production, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports . Currently, Apple testers are "actively using" prototypes that are in the design validation test stage, which is one step before the production validation test stage. The AirPods' cameras "aren't designed" to snap photos or video but instead can take in "visual information in low resolution" that users can query Siri about, like asking the AI assistant what they should cook with the ingredients they have in front of them, according to Gurman. They may also use the cameras to help with things like turn-b … Read the full story at The Verge.

For the past several years, private credit shone bright as the latest form of the “junk” debt revolution — one that began in the 1980s with Michael Milken ’s Drexel Burnham Lambert and spawned a broader universe of leveraged lending. The core idea, then as it is now, is that high-yielding loans to debt-laden companies actually aren’t terribly risky in the aggregate, and offer premium returns in the long-run. At the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills this week, though, the word on financiers’ lips was less “revolution” and more “revaluation.” And, of course, the opportunity to pounce on weaker players during the $1.8 trillion private credit market’s first crisis of confidence. Blackstone Inc. ’s global head of credit and insurance Gilles Dellaert put it bluntly: “Some debt will have to be restructured,” he said. “Large sponsors will succeed. Others will not.” Blackstone, of course, is the world’s biggest alternative asset manager. On panel after panel, executives salivated at the opportunities created by what Purnima Puri , founding partner at BlackRock Inc. ’s HPS Investment Partners, described as “this whole retail pullback in private credit.” Investors have sought to pull about $20 billion from private credit vehicles this year, concerned about underwriting standards, loan quality and the potential that advances in artificial intelligence are about to obliterate software businesses that loaded up on loans from the funds in the post-pandemic boom. For technology-focused private equity shop Thoma Bravo , that means doubling down on software as others look to trim those holdings to assuage investors. “We’ve been going through pretty much everyone’s book, looking at every investable deal, notably within software, where we have the most edge,” the firm’s partner and head of credit Jeff Levin said Monday. There was talk also about investing in the AI infrastructure boom as some asset managers embrace the “HALO” strategy of buying into hard assets with l...

A few banks are paying more interest on cash you might have lying about — if you're willing to lock up those funds for a few months. In April, several banks boosted the yields they pay on certificates of deposit, with rates on CDs maturing in a year or less rising 6 basis points to 3.71% and rates on 13- to 36-month instruments gaining 1 basis point to 2.62%, according to a Wednesday analysis from Morgan Stanley. A basis point is equal to one one-hundredth (0.01%) of a percent. Eight of the 35 banks under Morgan Stanley's coverage raised their CD yields. "During 1Q26 earnings, many management teams highlighted rising competition, driven by improving loan demand and an increasingly uncertain rate path," wrote analyst Manan Gosalia. Net interest income measures the difference between the revenue a bank generates from interest on assets such as loans and mortgages, and the interest it pays on deposits. Stronger demand for loans can help banks cover the cost of sweetening yields on CDs. Another factor to consider is the likelihood the Federal Reserve will stand pat on interest rates, as it did again in April. Three central bank officials have recently said they don't think it would be appropriate to signal that the next move for interest rates is lower. "April's increase in CD rates corroborates bank commentary around intensifying competition," Gosalia wrote. "With loan growth accelerating and expectations for rate cuts pushed out, we expect CD rates to remain flat to slightly higher." See below for the banks that raised their highest CD yields in April, according to Morgan Stanley. As attractive as the rates may appear, yields aren't enough to keep up with inflation over the long term. But they do allow investors to make a little extra money on cash they may have set aside for a near-term purpose. Here are the banks currently paying some of the highest rates.

Two of the most consumer-facing growth companies in America -- one feeding 1.1 million people daily, the other streaming music to 761 million -- just reported earnings that were better than feared. Yet the market responded to one report with indifference and the other with a sell-off. Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) stock is down roughly 34% from its all-time high, still carrying the hangover from CEO Brian Nicol's departure in mid-2024 and a year of traffic softness that shook investor confidence in the brand. For much of 2025, the question was whether this was a fixable execution problem or a structural crack. Its Q1 2026 results gave a credible answer: fixable. Image source: Getty Images.
