Spanberger And Dems Lie About Gerrymandering Scheme Authored by Ben Cline via RealClearPolitics , Once you burn your credibility, it’s hard to get back. Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger deceived voters and concealed her true leftist agenda to win the Governor’s Mansion last year. Now she and her fellow Democrats are lying to Virginians about a new gerrymandered congressional district map they placed on the ballot as a constitutional amendment on April 21. It’s a naked attempt to make it impossible for Republicans to win election to Congress in most places in Virginia, and it’s why she was rewarded with the plum assignment of responding to President Trump’s State of the Union address this week. The Virginia Supreme Court has already had one chance to stop the gerrymandering by upholding a judge’s ruling that Democrats cut legal corners to get the measure on the ballot. The justices, however, inexplicably chose to wait until the vote happens. I filed another lawsuit to bring new challenges, along with my colleague, Rep. Morgan Griffith (VA-9), and the RNC and NRCC. We won in circuit court, blocking the referendum again, so our Supreme Court will have another chance to do the right thing. As we wait for a ruling, it’s important that people have the facts. Spanberger masqueraded as a moderate in her campaign and won ceaseless praise from the media for her focus on “affordability.” But she dropped that as soon as she was sworn in and went right back to what she truly believes. She returned Virginia to the multi-state, radical environmental scheme that artificially raises electricity rates by $500 million every year. She’s currently considering a variety of tax increases proposed by Democrats in the Virginia legislature, including bumps in the sales and income tax, as well as taxes on everyday services like dog walking and gym memberships. She has yet to rule out raising taxes on anything. All of this is the opposite of what she ran on. Now Gov. Spanberger and her Democra...

Welcome back to FOIA Files! This week, I’m turning back to the summer of 2022 when the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago to retrieve classified documents and presidential records stored there by then former President Donald Trump. He was later indicted on charges that he unlawfully retained and concealed the documents and obstructed justice by refusing to return them to the National Archives and Records Administration. Last week, the FBI released to me nearly 100 pages of emails that reveal the stark divisions between the bureau and the Department of Justice leading up to the Mar-a-Lago search. If you’re not already getting FOIA Files in your inbox, sign up here. A couple of years ago, in the second edition of FOIA Files, I wrote about FBI personnel who’d complained to the bureau’s ombudsman about the Mar-a-Lago search. “Did this really just happen? Am I dreaming? The FBI served a Search Warrant on a former president?” wrote a bureau employee in an email. “If he took documents, give him a call and ask for them back.” The email, part of a cache of documents I obtained in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit I filed in 2022, laid bare the raw hostility inside the FBI after agents descended on Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022 and removed thousands of documents, including several hundred that were highly classified. Last year, FBI Director Kash Patel fired some of the agents and senior FBI officials involved in the search of Trump’s residence. The additional set of heavily redacted emails I received provides additional context and color. Probable cause The emails show that the agents from the Washington field office who were assigned to the case clashed with leadership at the DOJ over the direction of the investigation and didn’t believe there was even probable cause to execute a search warrant. (A separate set of emails related to the FBI’s search was released by Republican Senator Chuck Grassley in December.) In an email dated April 27, 2022, one FBI agent expressed sharp...

koyu/iStock via Getty Images I previously covered Sterling Infrastructure, Inc. (NASDAQ: STRL ) in December 2025, discussing why I had reiterated my Hold rating then, despite the improved margin of safety arising from the prior meltdown and the consequently cheaper valuations. Despite the robust backlog growth across numerous end markets as its customers also hinted at intensified multi-year data center/commerce capex trends, the baked in premium also implied a potentially mixed return prospect at prior levels. In this article, I shall discuss why I am reiterating my Hold rating for the STRL stock here, given the minimal margin of safety arising from the premium valuations, the pulled forward upside potential, and the elevated short interests. This is despite their AI beneficiary status as observed in the growing multi-year backlog and the richer profit margins along with their accretive M&A activities arising from the robust Free Cash Flows and the healthy balance sheet. STRL Proves Its AI Beneficiary Status STRL 1Y Stock Price (Trading View) Since my last Hold rating, the AI bulls have proven my caution wrong indeed, with STRL charting an outsized double digits rally compared to the wider market's single digits gain and a similar upward momentum also observed in its construction peers with data-center sector exposure in varying degrees. Much of their tailwinds are attributed to the durable data center-related spending trends as numerous hyperscalers offer outsized FY2026 capex guidance in the Q4'25 earnings season, with the higher construction activities naturally buoying numerous construction-related stocks. Higher Data Center Construction Activities (S&P Global) The same has been reported by STRL through the robust signed backlog growth to $3.01B in FY2025 (+78% YoY, partly aided by the CEC acquisition at $488.9M) along with the unsigned awards and future phase opportunities at ~$1.3B, with it bringing forth great visibility into their intermediate-term performa...
