xphotoz/iStock via Getty Images Introduction: Time To Take A Closer Look At GCI Liberty, Now Renamed Liberty Capital In the summer of 2025, GCI Liberty, just recently renamed to Liberty Capital Corporation ( GLIBA )( GLIBB )( GLIBK ), was spun off from Liberty Broadband Corporation ( LBRDA )( LBRDB )( LBRDK ). Since then, the Alaskan cableco once again operates as a standalone listed company, primarily serving Alaskan households and businesses. Just before the spin-off, I wrote an article for Seeking Alpha, titled “Liberty Broadband as the inroad into Alaskan telecoms,” with the aim of determining what the enterprise value of the standalone GCI Liberty/Liberty Capital would likely be. This could then serve to determine a fair value for the trading price of the Liberty Capital common stock as soon as they started trading. This could then support investors with a decision to buy the shares or not. This article, nearly a year later, is a follow-up to the previous one. The aim with this one is to take a closer look at how Liberty Capital has fared since the spin-off, what the outlook is, and if it makes sense to invest in the company at the current share prices. I'll start by revisiting the estimated enterprise value from the previous article and by comparing that to what the market is saying now. The shares have now traded on the exchange for nearly a year, so we have a much more exact view on what the company is actually worth according to the market. Furthermore, the quarterly earnings reports from Q2 2025 until Q1 2026 for the standalone company are now available as a basis. We'll go into the numbers and take a closer look at the business, but to immediately state the key conclusion here: Liberty Capital's shares are certainly not a bargain, in my opinion, but, with the recent dip in the share price, they're not trading way over the initial estimate for a justifiable enterprise value either. There are some developments surrounding the business that justify a slightl...

Sign up now! Sign up now! Sign up now? Sign up now! There’s an elemental force to football that can never be bottled and sold off. For reasons only known to Gianni Infantino and attendant pen pushers, the Azteca has been renamed the Mexico City Stadium for the Geopolitics World Cup. You can change a name for admin purposes, make punters pay through the nose for tickets, and charge 280 pesos ($17) for a beer (!) but legacy endures. It cannot be costed, sliced and diced. The ghosts of 1970 and 1986 were present and correct, just as present as JJ Balvin, Salma Hayek, David Guetta, EJAE and Andrea Bocelli were for a decent enough opening ceremony as these autotune extravaganzas go. Few would term Mexico 2-0 South Africa a classic tournament opener for the GWC but it served plenty of reminders this still actually means more. At the Euros I think we got a few things wrong off the pitch, I don’t feel the group connected as well as it could have for a number of reasons. When it came to the tournament, we were seen as one of two or three teams that could win it. We weren’t playing well, which doesn’t help, so even when we were winning, we didn’t get the feeling that we were as happy as we should be” – Jude Bellingham, there , suggesting that England were lacking vibes at the Euros. Where was Conor Coady when they needed him? Back in the 1994 World Cup, it was suggested the games should be split into four quarters to pander to increased advertising revenue. Needless to say, this idea was treated with the intense derision that it deserved and quickly booted into touch before it was implemented. Thirty-two years later we have ‘hydration breaks’ splitting the game into quarters and two extra advertising breaks. The more things change, the more they stay the same” – Nigel Sanders. Re: yesterday’s Football Daily . Apologies if this sounds like a story meant for a campfire but it’s hard to convey the feelings and the emotion that this tournament brings to the surface. The first tou...

SpaceX 's $1.77 trillion valuation has had many on Wall Street scratching their heads, but the dominance of the company's launch business supports the massive headline number, according to one Wall Street firm. Launch is the core of SpaceX's business, offering "compelling unit economics everywhere else," Wolfe Research wrote in a Friday note to clients, where it initiated the stock at an outperform with a $175 price target. The target represents nearly 30% upside from the stock's debut price. Wolfe noted that SpaceX pretty much has a monopoly when it comes to launch. "Is there a bigger moat to exploit than having a near-monopoly on escaping earth's gravity?" analyst Myles Walton at Wolfe wrote. SpaceX performs five out of every six U.S. space launches, according to a 2025 report from the Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology. Oppenheimer initiated coverage on SpaceX this week with a buy rating and a price target of $190 for the next 12 to 18 months, implying a 40% increase from the IPO price of $135 . New Street Research started their coverage on the company with a year-ahead $165 price target, predicting a 22% gain off the IPO price. Rocket reusability gives SpaceX a cost advantage that helps maintain its dominance. Reuse is a big part of the strategy following Friday's initial public offering, Wolfe analysts said. "Successful reusability of Starship is the single most important value unlock," Walton said, adding that cost efficiencies will also be a key for SpaceX's AI business as it competes with OpenAI and Anthropic, which are also expected to go public this year. "We don't expect SpaceX to out-innovate Anthropic or OpenAI on the model side, but we expect SpaceX to build a cost advantage into the compute end game through verticalization and space access," Walton wrote. Correction: Myles Walton is the lead analyst covering SpaceX at Wolfe Research.

Olga Yastremska/iStock via Getty Images Intro Perrigo Company plc ( PRGO ) has been a very disappointing investment for investors, as seen on the long-term 35-year chart below. For context, Perrigo is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and provides over-the-counter health and wellness solutions in the US and international markets. This company's operating model has changed in recent times, with its new reporting segments being Self Care, Infant Formula, and Specialty Care Suffice it to say, this stock has flattered to deceive since topping out in 2014, where our analysis in years past predominantly reflected caution due to the consolidating technical trends at the time. What the chart does reveal, however, is that PRGO stock has failed to trade above its 40-month moving average since 2015. Therefore, irrespective of the perceived bargain-basement valuation currently on offer as well as the 10% dividend, investors should remember that history many times repeats itself in financial markets. In fact, the long-term bearish trend has accelerated since last July, demonstrated by the rising ADX trend-following indicator, which is still nowhere near the elevated levels we witnessed back in 2014 and 2015. PRGO Long-Term Technicals (Stockcharts.com) Q1-2026 Earnings Trends Management reported many adjusted figures on the Q1 earnings call. Still, when we look at the core numbers, we see a business in decline, irrespective of how management continues to 'talk up' the pending turnaround. Top-line revenues came in at $969.2 million compared to $1,043.9 million in the same period of 12 months prior. However, what was more concerning was the drop of operating income from $79.4 million in Q1 in fiscal 2025 to $33.6 million in the first quarter this year. The above numbers demonstrate how this company remains heavily reliant on top-line growth to maintain its profitability. A 7%+ drop in revenues in the quarter, resulting in a 58% decline in operating profit, remains concerning, espec...
