Andrew Harnik Crypto was nowhere to be found in U.S. President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, a notable omission given his administration's push to champion digital assets. In the first year of his second term, Trump leaned hard into pro-crypto policy, issuing executive actions aimed at promoting U.S. leadership in digital assets and directing the establishment of a strategic bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) reserve and a broader national crypto stockpile. But in the longest-ever State of the Union speech , crypto received no mention, raising questions about where crypto now ranks on the administration's policy priorities. Instead, the president boasted about how things have improved economically since the Biden presidency, in addition to praising his tariffs and proposing a new program for retirement accounts. "Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) bros were hoping Trump would mention bitcoin strategic reserve and pump their coin last night. But bros, I've got some bad news for you: Trump already got your vote and took your money--he doesn't need you any more," Behavioral Macro blog author and former hedge fund manager Mark Dow wrote in a social media post . The crypto market didn't seem to read much into the silence, with bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) rebounding back toward the $70K mark and ether ( ETH-USD ) jumping back to over $2K in a broader risk-on session. But prices have a long way to go before meeting prior records, with BTC's price nearly sliced in half since its all-time highs of over $126K late last year. DeepSeek, the Chinese artificial intelligence lab whose low-cost model rattled global markets last year, has not shown U.S. chipmakers its upcoming flagship model for performance optimization, two sources familiar with the matter said, breaking from standard industry practice ahead of a major model update. Instead, the lab, which is expected to launch its next major update, V4, granted early access to domestic suppliers, including Huawei Technologies, the sources said. AI developers typically share pre-release versions of major models with leading chipmakers such as Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices to ensure their software performs efficiently on widely used hardware.

Are you looking for a high-octane prospect but don't necessarily want to make a lifetime commitment? That's OK. While somewhat rare, these kinds of opportunities do exist. You just need to find a budding revolutionary development that will inevitably reward investors while this solution becomes the norm. Think online shopping, or smartphones, or artificial intelligence (AI). To this end, largely thanks to Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) , telecom-technology outfit Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is currently one of the market's most underestimated winners for the next 10 years. Nobody will be surprised to learn that the massive amount of digital data being consumed and created by artificial intelligence platforms is putting some serious strain on the planet's communication infrastructure. Indeed, mobile usage of AI solutions is being constrained by the 5G (fifth-generation) mobile networks that were more than adequate to meet the world's mobile broadband connectivity needs just a few years ago. Friedrichsen expressed strong confidence in DISCO's position as an industry disruptor, emphasizing their "cloud-based AI native technology specifically designed for the rigors of high stakes, complex litigation." Friedrichsen reported, "In Q4, total revenue grew 11% year-over-year to $41.2 million and software revenue grew 14% year-over-year to $35.1 million." He noted this was the third consecutive quarter of accelerating growth for both total and software revenue, excluding a contingent deal recognized in the previous quarter, and stated, "We are very pleased to beat the high end of the guidance range that we provided for both software and total revenue." The CEO highlighted record highs in platform usage, double-digit growth in multi-terabyte matters, and a "600%" year-over-year increase in revenue from generative AI features. Friedrichsen described the newly announced agentic capabilities in Cecilia AI and Auto Review, claiming, "After the initial prompt setup, our AI-powered Auto Review completed the review in just 2 days, delivering 98% precision and 97% recall." Richard Crum, Chief Product, Technology & Strategy Officer, announced a new pricing model: "Going forward, we are combining all of our powerful DISCO Ediscovery and Cecilia AI capabilities into a single offering, along with updates to our pricing and contracting approach." He underscored robust credit quality with "non-accruals at less than 1% of the portfolio at fair value" and highlighted the shift to a $0.17 per month distribution for the first quarter, continuing a streak of consistent or increased dividends for over six years. Brown discussed strategic positioning in AI and software, noting, "Enterprise SaaS is currently 9% of our portfolio," and described the company's focus on financing the infrastructure supporting AI, such as data centers and equipment, rather than betting on individual application winners. Software companies will make it through the current wave of artificial intelligence disruption, said Alfred Lin , a co-steward and partner at Sequoia Capital. “Let’s not forget AI is a lot of software,” Lin said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Wednesday. “Legacy software companies of yesteryear like Oracle still exist today.” Lin added that he believes AI ultimately will improve most companies. “The impacts of AI are real,” he said. “They’re going to allow us to do a lot more than we used to be able to do.” Fears over AI disruption have wreaked havoc on software stocks over the last few months. The AI scare trade shook Wall Street again this week after a report from Citrini Research laid out potential risks posed by AI. In one of Lin’s first public appearances since becoming co-steward of Sequoia in November, he said that the firm was focused on using AI to amplify the work currently done by humans. He pointed to Sequoia’s recent investment in Rowspace AI Inc. as an example of how the technology can help people work more efficiently and make better decisions. Rowspace targets the financial services industry, offering companies a single platform to connect data. Sequoia led a $50 million funding round for the startup across its Series A and seed rounds, Rowspace said Wednesday. Other investors in the company include Emergence Capital. With Rowspace’s technology, “there is still a human in the loop,” Lin said. The addition of new AI tools “leaves all of us to do much more strategic work, much more creative work, and much more human work.” At Sequoia, Lin has invested in companies like OpenAI, Airbnb Inc., DoorDash Inc. and Kalshi Inc. Lin, who specializes in early stage investing, leads the firm alongside Pat Grady , who has shepherded Sequoia’s growth team, which focuses on more mature startups. Lin said that Sequoia backs founders for the long term, regardless of stock market fashions, citing Nvidia Corp. and Snowflake Inc. as examples. “The companies that la...
