Investor focus remained highly concentrated around a narrow set of perceived secular winners while many growth-oriented businesses outside those themes faced sustained pressure. Market performance was shaped less by macroeconomic developments and more by a reassessment of growth durability, competitive positioning and valuation. As a result, earnings reactions were often sharp and uneven, with stocks moving meaningfully despite solid underlying execution, reinforcing a challenging environment for diversified growth portfolios. Contributors: Holdings in Expedia ( EXPE ), RBC Bearings ( RBC ) and an underweight to Roblox ( RBLX ). Underweight to the communication services sector, stock selection in consumer staples and consumer discretionary. Detractors: Holdings in Doximity ( DOCS ), United Rentals ( URI ) and underweight to Rocket Lab ( RKLB ). Stock selection in materials, industrials and financials. Outlook: We believe the portfolio is well-positioned for a more balanced growth environment, as valuation dislocations and improving fundamentals create opportunity beyond the most crowded growth themes. Performance Review The Portfolios underperformed their benchmark (gross and net of fees) for the quarter as results were shaped by a highly selective growth environment and sharp market reactions to individual earnings outcomes, despite solid execution across many holdings. Industrials was a meaningful detractor during the quarter, reflecting stock selection challenges rather than a broad-based sector trend. Several holdings faced pressure as investors reassessed near-term expectations following earnings and outlook updates. United Rentals, an equipment rental company, detracted as uncertainty persisted around the timing and durability of a recovery i...

Zimbabwe suspended exports of lithium concentrates and raw minerals as it pushes mining firms to set up processing operations in the country. The export ban is effective immediately until further notice, Mines Minister Polite Kambamura told reporters in the capital Harare on Wednesday. The African nation has quickly emerged as a major supplier of lithium concentrate for refineries in China, after firms such as Chengxin Lithium Group , Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co. and Sinomine Resource Group spent billions of dollars to develop mines. Governments across the continent have sought to compel mining companies to refine minerals locally to increase the economic gains from their countries’ resources. Zimbabwe has some of the largest lithium reserves in Africa and is among the top global producers, with resources estimated at 126 million tons, according to official data. Kambamura said the ban will only be lifted if miners comply with government requirements. Drew Angerer/Getty Images News Investment firm General Atlantic is selling an equity stake in ByteDance ( BDNCE ) in a transaction that values the Chinese social media company at about $550B, Reuters reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. The deal reflects a sharp increase in the valuation of the privately held shares. According to the report, the potential divestment would be the first since the Trump administration approved the sale of ByteDance’s U.S. TikTok operations in January, and represents roughly a 66% surge from last year’s share buyback that valued the company at more than $330B. The deal also marks roughly a 15% increase from a November secondary market transaction that valued ByteDance at about $480B, according to sources. General Atlantic, which first backed ByteDance in 2017 when the company was valued at around $20B, began exploring a partial stake sale in recent weeks and aims to complete the transaction in March, one of the sources said. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, including the size of the stake being sold, General Atlantic’s current ownership in ByteDance, or the level of its holdings following the transaction.
