Mexico’s president says there is ‘no risk’ for those visiting for Fifa games after military killed drug lord ‘El Mencho’ Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum has said that there is “no risk” for visitors coming to Fifa World Cup games scheduled to be held in the country, after the death of a top cartel boss triggered a wave of retaliatory violence from gunmen who blocked roads and attacked security forces across the country. The Mexican military attempted to detain “El Mencho”, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, in a dawn raid on Sunday, leading to a firefight in which he was fatally wounded, before dying while being airlifted to hospital. Photo: VCG China’s domestic travel and tourism spending climbed to record levels during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, as an extended nine-day break fueled a surge in cross-regional mobility. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said Tuesday that domestic trips totaled 596 million, up 95 million from the eight-day holiday in 2025. While the headline figure points to strong travel demand, the underlying data reflect more cautious consumer behavior. Total domestic tourism spending reached 803.5 billion yuan ($116.3 billion), an increase of 126.5 billion yuan from a year earlier. Average spending per trip, however, fell to about 150 yuan from roughly 169 yuan during the 2025 holiday, indicating that although more people are traveling, individual outlays have tightened.

Earnings Call Insights: Ziff Davis (ZD) Q4 2025 Management View CEO Vivek Shah described 2025 as a year of modest growth, with revenue up 3.5% and nearly $290 million in free cash flow generated. He stated, “Given the headwinds that some of our businesses experienced, we're glad to have produced a year of growth, however, modest.” Shah explained the company deployed $174 million, or 60% of its free cash flow, in share repurchases, continuing to view its own stock as a highly attractive investment. Shah highlighted a 1.5% revenue decline and a 5% drop in adjusted EBITDA for the fourth quarter, attributing this primarily to an 18% decline in the Tech & Shopping segment due to lower web search traffic impacting affiliate commerce revenues. He reported that “Tech & Shopping's revenues declined largely due to a drop in web search traffic, which had a meaningful impact on our affiliate commerce revenues.” Growth in other segments offset Tech & Shopping: Gaming & Entertainment revenues grew 1.5% in Q4, with the Humble Bundle Storefront achieving its best revenue quarter in five years. Health & Wellness delivered an 8.6% year-over-year revenue increase in Q4, driven by increased ad spend from pharma clients and subscriptions for the Lose It! weight loss app. Connectivity segment revenues rose 11% in Q4, supported by product launches such as Speedtest Pulse and Speedtest Certified. Shah noted that the company is deferring formal guidance due to ongoing strategic review, stating, “Our evaluation of potential strategic opportunities remains ongoing. As a result of that process, we have decided to defer issuing formal guidance at this time.” CFO Bret Richter reported, “Fourth quarter 2025 revenue was $406.7 million as compared with revenue of $412.8 million for the prior year period, a decline of 1.5%.” He added, “Fourth quarter 2025 adjusted EBITDA was $163.2 million... reflecting a 5% decline.” Richter also stated, “We reported fourth quarter adjusted diluted EPS of $2.56. Panuwat Dangsungnoen/iStock via Getty Images Overview Traditional investing advice tells us to buy an index fund and dollar cost average over a longer holding period. However, the S&P 500 Index ( SPX ) contains many companies that I consider fluff. These are the companies that have a long-established history of sales and revenue growth, but they may no longer be innovating within their respective industries. Therefore, earnings growth is slow but reliable. The Vanguard Mega Cap Index Fund ( MGC ) makes it possible to trim the fluff out of the index and focus on the largest companies that are leaders within their respective industries. Looking at the performance over the last twelve months, we can see that MGC has provided a total return of a little more than 15%. The fund has a starting dividend yield of about 0.9% and instantly provides exposure to the highest quality businesses in the world. The positive performance over the last year is a clear indication that the fund is capable of capturing bullish market momentum over time. Although MGC takes a more refined approach, the ETF is still a great choice for long-term accumulators that want to implement a straightforward buy-and-hold approach. Data by YCharts When comparing the historical performance of MGC against more traditional index-tracking ETFs, MGC's strategy has proven to be efficient at providing alpha. Despite this, there are some risks that must be considered for investors with a lower tolerance for volatility. The more focused approach has historically translated to greater downside risks during market declines. So let's start by taking a look at the underlying strategy that MGC implements to provide value for shareholders. Fund Strategy According to the latest fund overview , MGC has total net assets of $9.6B that are spread across the largest companies in the U.S. MGC is very cost-efficient since the expense ratio sits at 0.05%, making it a great low-cost option for investors that want to maintain a l...

Michael Derrer Fuchs/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Canada’s aviation authority has signed off on Gulfstream’s G700 and G800 business jets, a move that could help defuse a recent cross-border dispute over aircraft certification. Transport Canada granted approval for the aircraft to operate in Canadian airspace, with certification for the G700 and G800 disclosed publicly on Tuesday. The regulator had already authorized Gulfstream’s G500 and G600 models late last week. The approvals follow tensions earlier this year when President Trump warned that Bombardier ( BDRBF ) ( BDRAF ) ( BOMBF ) aircraft could be barred from flying in the United States if Canadian officials did not speed up certification of four newer Gulfstream jets. He also floated the possibility of tariffs on Canadian-built aircraft sold into the U.S. Gulfstream operates as a subsidiary of General Dynamics ( GD ). Shares of General Dynamics rose 0.8% in New York trading. In recent weeks, both the head of the Federal Aviation Administration and Bombardier’s chief executive had indicated that the aerospace trade disagreement between the two countries was close to being settled.
