Trump’s decision to order airstrikes against Iran will hinge in part on the judgment of Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner The USS Gerald R Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, has reached the US naval base of Souda Bay on Crete, en route to joining a massive military build-up in the Middle East. President Donald Trump – who ordered strikes on Iran last year – has repeatedly threatened Tehran with fresh military action if it does not cut a new deal on its contentious nuclear programme, which the West fears is aimed at building an atomic weapon. Mexico inflation sped up more than expected in early February as new taxes and tariffs that went into effect at the start of the year take hold. Consumer prices rose 3.92% in the first two weeks of February compared to the same period from a year earlier, according national statistics institute data published Tuesday. The reading was above the 3.89% median estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg and up from the 3.82% print in late January. Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and fuel prices, slowed slightly to 4.52%, compared to the 4.56% level registered in the last two weeks of January, and below the 4.57% median estimate . The central bank , which targets inflation of 3%, plus or minus one percentage point, earlier this month ended a near two-year easing cycle that trimmed the key rate from 11% to 7% over 12 meetings. The majority of the bank’s board acknowledged lingering uncertainty on price pressures stemming from tariffs the Mexican government imposed mostly on Asian imports from Jan. 1 and some tax hikes. Still, they described the potential inflationary repercussions of the measures as “temporary and limited,” according to the minutes from their Feb. 5 rate meeting. Read More: Banxico Cites Uncertainty Over Mexican Tariffs on Asian Goods Banxico, as the central bank is known, has struggled to bring inflation down to target, and it has pushed off its forecast for when it expects headline inflation to reach the goal to the second quarter of 2027. It had previously estimated that the inflation rate would converge to its target in the third quarter of this year. In a dissenting opinion in Banxico’s minutes, Deputy Governor Jonathan Heath argued that despite the upward revision of the bank’s inflation forecast, it remains below other surveys. He said the balance of risks for inflation remain biased to the upside and disagreed that it’s “more balanced,” as Banxico stated in its latest monetary policy decision. Heath added that an interest rate cut in u...

On a constant currency basis, sales were up 8.6% for the quarter that ended on December 31, driven by volume/mix growth of 4.8% and favorable net price realization of 3.8%. The acquisition of the Ghost business contributed 3.8 percentage points to volume/mix growth during the quarter. In the U.S. refreshment segment, sales increased 11.5% to $2.7B, driven by volume/mix growth of 7.0% and favorable net price realization of 4.5%. In the U.S. coffee segment, sales increased 3.9% to $1.2B. Favorable net price realization of 8.0% was partially offset by a volume/mix decline of 4.1%. In the international segment, sales increased 21.0% to $604M. On a constant currency basis, sales increased 16.0%, driven by favorable net price realization of 9.2% and volume/mix growth of 6.8%. Adjusted operating income increased 20.0% to $163M during the quarter and totaled 27.0% of sales. Adjusted operating income growth was driven by net sales growth and productivity savings, partially offset by the impact of inflationary pressures. "In 2026, we intend to build upon our momentum with the acquisition and integration of JDE Peet's and progress towards the subsequent separation into two advantaged pure play companies," highlighted CEO Tim Cofer. The beverage company guided for net sales of $25.9B to $26.4B (midpoint $26.2B) and adjusted diluted EPS growth in a low-double-digit range. The guidance is predicated on 4% to 6% constant currency net sales growth and 4% to 6% constant currency adjusted diluted EPS growth for KDP's standalone business, as well as an incremental contribution from JDE Peet's, assuming an early April transaction close. Last year, Keurig Dr Pepper ( KDP ) agreed to acquire JDE Peet’s for $18.4B in cash, aiming to create a global coffee leader. After the deal closes, KDP will split into two independent, U.S.-listed companies, with one focused on coffee an...

Cartel Kingpin "El Mencho" Dead. Here's A Shortlist Of Possible Successors Mexico's most wanted cartel boss was killed Sunday in a Mexican military operation reportedly supported by U.S. intelligence; however, the emergence of potential successors indicates the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) is not at the end of its road, only suggesting the decapitation strike is more likely to drive short-term fragmentation and retaliatory or spillover risks. Local outlet Político MX reports that following the Sunday killing of CJNG leader Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes in the military operation, potential successors have already emerged. This signals heightened leadership transition risk and near-term volatility for CJNG command and control. " The death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes doesn't just close a chapter: it opens the dispute for control of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel ," Político MX wrote on X. Here's the short list according to the outlet: Among financial operators, regional bosses, and key pieces in the criminal logistics, these are the names appearing in the line of succession: El 03' — Financial and logistics operator 'El Sapo' — In charge of recruitment and armed structure 'El Jardinero' — Responsible for operations in several states 'RR' — Key piece in the operational and tactical structure 'El Tío Lako' — Operator with strong territorial control in the Guadalajara area 🚨👑 Tras la caída del 'Mencho'… ellos suenan como sus posibles sucesores para tomar el poder del CJNG La muerte de Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes no solo cierra un capítulo: abre la disputa por el control del Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación.
