When American Tower ( AMT ) announces its fourth quarter earnings on Tuesday, Wall Street expects the independent owner, operator, and developer of multitenant communications real estate to post EPS of $1.47 on revenue of $2.69B for the quarter. The firm beat Q3 top-line and bottom-line estimates as the artificial intelligence boom helped drive demand in its data center business. It also raised its full-year outlook across property revenue, adjusted EBITDA, attributable AFFO, and AFFO per share. The company reiterated organic tenant billings growth of approximately 5% and data center growth of approximately 13% year-over-year. It also cited $50M of FX tailwinds, $5M in pass-through revenue, and $5M in incremental non-run rate revenue in the U.S. as drivers for the outlook raise, partially offset by $20M of revenue reserves in Latin America due to an ongoing legal dispute. Seeking Alpha analyst Daniel Jones noted that AMT continues to post revenue and profitability growth, with strong performance in emerging markets and data centers despite recent performance versus the S&P 500. “Management raised 2025 guidance for property revenue and EBITDA, reflecting confidence in operational momentum and international demand tailwinds,” added Jones, rating the stock a Buy. Seeking Alpha and Wall Street analysts are bullish, rating AMT a Buy . Seeking Alpha author Justin Purohit rated the stock a Buy, saying that AMT’s operating results will remain supported by its long-term demand driver of continuously increasing wireless data usage. Purohit highlighted that mobile data usage continues to grow at a double-digit pace globally. More data usage ultimately requires more network capacity, more densification, and more equipment on towers, directly benefiting AMT’s leasing activity and renewal economics. Add to that the continued momentum in CoreSite and early AI-related workloads, and the runway appears long. On the other hand, Seeking Alpha’s Quant rating is cautious and rated AMT a...

Headquarters of Chinese electric car battery manufacturer CATL, whose manufacturing tech Ford is licensing for the 2027 midsize BEV pickup. zhudifeng/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Ford Motor Company's ( F ) rush to enter the battery electric vehicle, or BEV, market almost a decade ago rested on a consequential shortcut to adapt the automaker’s existing vehicle architectures to accommodate batteries rather than the laborious, costly, and slower design of an all-new structure for BEVs. Ford’s $19.5 billion in write-downs (so far) for investments in new BEV models – notably the F150 Lightning pickup, Mustang Mach-E, and others that were cancelled – may speak in part to that decision. With the benefit of hindsight, Ford would have been better off with a slower development path that relied on a new platform optimized for battery electrification. The other reason for the write-downs appears to be that demand in the U.S. for BEVs, no matter their design, hasn’t lived up to early forecasts and assumptions. That was then Enter Ford’s new Universal Electric Vehicle ("UEV") platform, inspired by engineering teardowns of Tesla, Inc. ( TSLA ) and BEV models from China. Ford CEO Jim Farley has publicly lauded Chinese automotive design and technology as superior to what Ford and other incumbent automakers have been offering. In a briefing to journalists last week, Ford explained how its new UEV has been optimized for batteries and also reduces manufacturing cost, which is intended to translate to a lower price. Specifically, Ford is talking about a $30,000 starting price for a new mid-sized BEV pickup. The Lightning started at about $50,000, and Ford’s Mach-E SUV starts at around $40,000; both had been eligible for $7,500 federal tax credits at various points. Along with various innovations to improve efficiency, UEV’s most important innovation is the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, a chemistry that is less prone to overheating, less costly, and also less energy den...

OpenAI CEO also downplayed concerns about how much water datacenters require at AI summit in India The OpenAI boss, Sam Altman , has tried to ease concerns about how much power is used by artificial intelligence models by comparing it to the amount of energy required by human development. “People talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model – but it also takes a lot of energy to train a human,” Altman told the Indian Express recently while in India for the AI Impact summit. “It takes about 20 years of life – and all the food you consume during that time – before you become smart.” Continue reading...

(This is The Best Stocks in the Market , brought to you by Josh Brown and Sean Russo of Ritholtz Wealth Management.) Josh — Today we're going to revisit a name you may have heard me talking about on TV before called NextEra Energy (NEE) . I used to own it, but I currently have no position. It looks like a fresh breakout to multiyear highs is coming. NextEra is basically two companies in one. The first half of NEE is a gigantic utility powering the state of Florida called Florida Power and Light (FPL). Given the state's population explosion, this is a classic growth story in the regulated utility business in and of itself. The other half of NextEra is a renewable energy business that has rapidly become one of the most exciting stories in the space. About that multiyear high… In the chart above you can see something massive shaping up over the last 10 years. Those are monthly candles, and we're making an assault on the old highs from five years ago right now. The higher low formed during the 2025 swoon looks like a "handle" coming out of the "cup" lows of late 2023. Let's say you don't like patterns and you think it's voodoo. That's fine — but can you at least accept this as a higher low indicating the buyers didn't think it would revisit the mid-40's again? They came in at $60 and they turned the stock. Pay attention! Sean's got a couple more utilities to show you plus our usual rundown of Best Stocks metadata. All five of the top stocks by relative strength on our list are denizens of the physical economy — oil fields, auto parts, drilling equipment, tractors, package delivery. It's still a HALO world where analog businesses have the best stock price action. My HALO idea I've talked about here was featured in the Wall Street Journal over the weekend. You can read it here (but not until you finish this column –- SWEAR TO ME!). OK, here's Sean. Look for me at the end with some risk management strategizing.
