Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said his decision on whether to support an interest-rate cut at the US central bank’s next policy meeting will hinge on upcoming labor-market data. Waller said it may be appropriate to keep rates steady when the Federal Open Market Committee next meets March 17-18 if labor market data for February indicate, as in January, that downside risks to the labor market have diminished. “But if the good labor market news of January is revised away or evaporates in February, it would support my position at the FOMC’s last meeting, that a 25-basis-point reduction in the policy rate was appropriate, and that such a cut should be made at the March meeting,” he said Wednesday in remarks prepared for an event in Washington with the National Association for Business Economics. Waller dissented from the Fed’s decision in January to leave its benchmark policy rate unchanged, saying he preferred a quarter-point reduction because of signs of softness in the labor market. Startup Humand is betting the next wave of workplace software won’t target office employees but the billions of workers who don’t sit behind a computer. The startup raised a $66 million Series A round co-led by Goodwater Capital and Kaszek Ventures , to expand its US presence and continue to develop AI agents that automate human resources tasks — from internal communications to scheduling and training for the so-called “deskless staff.” The round featured participation from Y Combinator, Newtopia VC and angel investors including Dropbox co-founder Arash Ferdowsi , Lyft co-founder Rajat Suri and MercadoLibre Inc co-founder Marcos Galperin . Humand’s mobile app combines internal communications, scheduling, benefits information and training in a single platform aimed at employees who rely primarily on smartphones. Founded in 2020 by Argentine entrepreneurs who met in college in Buenos Aires, the company began by building its product with steelmaker ArcelorMittal SA before officially launching in 2021. Based in San Francisco, it serves more than 1.5 million workers at 1,500 global firms, including Siemens AG, Home Depot Inc, John Deere and Domino’s Pizza Inc. After reading them, you will be entitled to call yourself a "Jr. Fluidsdoc," with all the rights and privileges that station confers. None actually, but you'll be smarter than you were before, and that's always a good thing. In this article, I am appealing to the segment of the investing community known as "retirees," and will explore some of the motivations and desires commonly shared by these folks. I know what I am talking about here, as I have been formally retired for over 10 years now. I won't keep you waiting for the info-nugget here. Retirees want income , preferably stress-free income . We're calling it "No Drama." We will develop this thesis in more detail a little later in this piece, but if you're a retiree, I'll bet I have your attention. The company has just declared another $0.025-CAD dividend, so we're off to a good start for the year. It's not a lot, but as you'll see, it's adding up. And...hey, there's always next quarter, right? And the quarter after that...all with no drama. HMENF Price chart (Seeking Alpha) Over the last six months, the company has traded in a fairly tight range between the upper $1.30s and the lower $1.60s. It's a fairly regular oscillation that loosely follows WTI ebbs and flows, so there's no rush to pile in, as there is no particular reason for it to break out of this range, absent missiles flying around on the other side of the planet. I rated it a buy at the time , which did not go particularly well, as the market decidedly soured on them for the rest of that year. Data by YCharts Fast forward 13 months, and you can see where the prices have dropped precipitously further. Something else happened Friday though, when Five9 beat estimates with a strong showing in Q4 , and for the first time in quite some time, the stock showed signs of life. Now, of course, the price is still down quite a bit from where we started, but with a whole fiscal year of new numbers in, this seems like a good time to reexamine a company that investors had all but forgotten about, seeing how their margins are going (they were looking strong at the start of 2025) and whether the company’s planned AI offerings are fueling growth. You might suspect from their share price over the past year that things aren’t going so great, but looks can be deceiving, and Five9’s growth actually has steadily continued, with enterprise AI bookings showing robust demand right through the end of the year. Q4 Caps Off a Strong Year Beating estimates on both earnings and revenue, Five9’s Q4 was a pleasant surprise for those who haven’t been paying attention, and we saw the market reward the stock price Friday. Andy Andrews Finland-based quantum computing startup IQM is planning to go public in the U.S. through a merger with Real Asset Acquisition ( RAAQ ). IQM said it entered a definitive business combination agreement with special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, Real Asset to list American Depositary Shares on one of the two leading U.S. stock exchanges. The transaction values IQM at a pre-money equity valuation of $1.8B and makes IQM the first European quantum company to go public, according to IQM. After the transaction closes, IQM’s cash position is expected to exceed $450M. This includes about $175M of cash held in Real Asset's trust account. About $134M in proceeds from a financing at $10 per share from leading new and existing investors and institutional investors, to close concurrently with the business combination. IQM said it is also considering a dual listing that would see its ordinary shares on the Helsinki stock exchange. This is expected to happen after the U.S. listing is complete. IQM noted that it has sold 21 systems to 13 customers to date, including four out of the top 10 supercomputing centers globally. The company added that it generated at least $35M in unaudited revenue in 2025 and has over $100M in bookings/visibility as of year-end 2025. "Quantum computing is a science project no more. It is an industry where customers own, operate, and build on advanced quantum computers. That’s what IQM makes possible," said IQM's Co-Founder and CEO Jan Goetz.
