Richard Drury/DigitalVision via Getty Images Introduction & Investment Thesis The Trade Desk ( TTD ) stock has had a rough start in 2026, down 33% YTD. In my previous post on the stock, I kept my “buy” rating, as the company was reportedly loosening its grip on pricing to secure a higher portion of ad spend among their JBPs (Joint Business Plans) at a time when the DSP (Demand Side Platform) battles have been intensifying and the company’s narrative is under immense pressure. While Jeff Green, CEO of The Trade Desk, expressed his optimistic views on the future of the "open web" at the CES 2026 conference at the start of the year, it soon afterwards terminated its CFO, who had been at the job for less than 6 months. Such kind of executive leadership instability is never good at a time when investor confidence is already at its low. Meanwhile, The Trade Desk’s new archenemy in the CTV (Connected TV) space, Amazon ( AMZN ), reported their Q4 earnings , where Amazon Ads continued to grow at 22%, while The Trade Desk is expected to grow their Q4 FY25 revenue at just 13.5%, demonstrating market share loss. The way I see it, the management has a LOT to prove at this point to reinstill investor confidence. While one may point to its depressed forward price-to-earnings ratio, I believe the stock won’t be re-rated higher until management can demonstrate meaningful revenue acceleration ahead. At this point, I have chosen to abandon The Trade Desk ship at a significant loss and instead chosen to reallocate to a relatively “safer” bet, which I will discuss below. In the meantime, I will also downgrade my rating on The Trade Desk stock to a "hold." What I Said Earlier In my previous post, I discussed that The Trade Desk is reportedly loosening its grip on pricing as the battle of the DSPs intensifies. Based on this article , a couple of large media agencies have been able to procure a 1-2% reduction in fees as well as post-auction discounts with The Trade Desk if they surpass a c...

The latest in our series of writers on their most important comfort films is a celebration of Nicolas Cage’s finest action moment It’s easy to poke fun at Nicolas Cage. Between the meltdown memes, dodgy hairdos and his more taxman-friendly choices of roles, he has frequently made himself a target for ridicule among the masses. Fresh off an Oscar win for Leaving Las Vegas, the actor’s decision to follow up with three action films must have seemed baffling at the time. The gambit paid off, though. Consisting of The Rock, Con Air and Face/Off, this unofficial “trilogy” of blockbusters would showcase the fundamental unknowability of Nicolas Cage. Continue reading...

Thursday’s stakes could not be higher. We know Labour has failed and Farage’s Reform is poisonous. I want to win Gorton and Denton as a fresh start Hannah Spencer is the Green party candidate in this week’s Gorton and Denton byelection I didn’t grow up planning to be a politician. I’m a tradesperson from Manchester. I left school at 16 and have been a plumber ever since. Last week, I also qualified as a plasterer, with a distinction. So until now, I’ve spent my working life fixing homes. But after years of watching things fall apart, I’m done waiting for someone else to change things. It’s time to turn my hand to fixing whole communities – and join our Green MPs determined to repair our broken politics. Gorton and Denton deserves an MP rooted in this community – someone who works here, understands this place and genuinely cares. After thousands of doorstep conversations, it’s clear people are done with Labour. This byelection is now a straight fight between the Green party and Reform UK. Labour knows it, and Reform’s candidate, Matthew Goodwin, knows it too. Continue reading...

A huge vaccination drive has been launched after the country’s first outbreak in years of the paralysing disease. But the battle to wipe out the virus is struggling elsewhere, so how can it be eradicated? As a seven-year-old boy is treated for polio at a hospital in Malawi, the country has launched a major vaccination campaign to stem an outbreak of the disease. The effort in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries and badly hit by the aid cuts, has seen an astonishing 1.3 million children already vaccinated against the disease in just four days after emergency supplies were airlifted in by the World Health Organization (WHO) just over a week ago. Arousal may be spontaneous, or arise in response to sensory stimulation, memory, fantasy or emotional connection. Here’s how to understand the differences What turns you on? Depending on the person, the answer to that question will vary wildly. But what is really going on under the, ahem, hood when we start to get in the mood? The first scientists to really take the physiology of sex seriously – or at least break the taboos around talking about it – were William Masters and Virginia Johnson, sexologists who began their studies in the 1950s (and got married in 1971). “They came up with what’s known as the four-stage model, which was that the body gets aroused, you hit a plateau, you have an orgasm, you go back down to baseline,” says Dr Angela Wright, a GP and clinical sexologist based in Yorkshire. Anthropic dropped a bombshell on the artificial intelligence industry Monday, publicly accusing three prominent Chinese AI laboratories — DeepSeek , Moonshot AI , and MiniMax — of orchestrating coordinated, industrial-scale campaigns to siphon capabilities from its Claude models using tens of thousands of fraudulent accounts. The San Francisco-based company said the three labs collectively generated more than 16 million exchanges with Claude through approximately 24,000 fake accounts, all in violation of Anthropic's terms of service and regional access restrictions. The campaigns, Anthropic said, are the most concrete and detailed public evidence to date of a practice that has haunted Silicon Valley for months: foreign competitors systematically using a technique called distillation to leapfrog years of research and billions of dollars in investment. "These campaigns are growing in intensity and sophistication," Anthropic wrote in a technical blog post published Monday. "The window to act is narrow, and the threat extends beyond any single company or region. Addressing it will require rapid, coordinated action among industry players, policymakers, and the global AI community." The disclosure marks a dramatic escalation in the simmering tensions between American and Chinese AI developers — and it arrives at a moment when Washington is actively debating whether to tighten or loosen export controls on the advanced chips that power AI training. Anthropic, led by CEO Dario Amodei, has been among the most vocal advocates for restricting chip sales to China , and the company explicitly connected Monday's revelations to that policy fight. How AI distillation went from obscure research technique to geopolitical flashpoint To understand what Anthropic alleges, it helps to understand what distillation actually is — and how it evolved from an academic curiosity into the most contentious issue in the global AI race. At its core, distillation is a process of extracting knowledge ...

India has “every reason” to attract foreign funds, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, even as overseas inflows remain modest and lag behind regional peers following months of volatility. “You would expect the funds to flow toward such economies like India,” Sitharaman told reporters in New Delhi, adding that the country has all the hallmarks global investors look for, ranging from macroeconomic performance to policy stability. “If it doesn’t flow, all of us will have to see what is holding it back,” she said on Monday at a press conference after addressing the Reserve Bank of India board. Her comments come as global funds have resumed buying Indian equities, with net purchases of $1.7 billion so far this month compared with an outflow of $3.3 billion in January. Still, the inflows pale in comparison to Taiwan and Japan, and may barely cover the gap between India’s imports and exports. Foreign investors pulled a record $19 billion in 2025, which analysts attributed to delays in securing a trade deal with the US and weaker earnings growth. “There is something else, probably strategic, probably global politics,” the finance minister said on the reasons behind the muted flows. India remains one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with the government predicting growth of as much as 7.2% in the fiscal year starting April 1. Sitharaman also said there is no roadmap for bank consolidation, adding that the issue was neither discussed at the RBI board meeting nor considered ahead of the federal budget. Interest Rate At the same press conference on Monday, India’s central bank chief declined to comment on the interest rate trajectory, saying such decisions are for the Monetary Policy Committee. The committee “will be taking decision meeting by meeting” and the interest rate “will be depending on growth and inflation dynamics,” Governor Sanjay Malhotra said. The central bank left its benchmark interest rate unchanged in February at 5.25% and signaled that policy is...
